We have been doing animal rescue for many years and have experience with many vets. This is by far my worst vet experience. I recently started raising chickens and was refered heer by my regular vet when my chicken became sick. I was told they would charge $10 for a fecal exam or $50 for the vet to examine the chicken. I took chicken and fecal sample to vet for my scheduled appointment, but the chicken died before I arrived. Since I had other chickens at home, I was concerned about why the chicken had died and if my other chickens were at risk.
Even though I had an appointment, I had to wait almost 30 minutes before the vet assisted me. He started by running tests on the fecal sample. There were no signs of any problems, so the vet could not tell me what was wrong with the chicken or why it had died. The vet indicated that he could examine the dead chicken or send the chicken off to be autopsied, but everything would cost a lot more money. I asked what he could accomplish by examing the dead chicken, and he said he could make no promises about anything. The vet never introduced himself, never asked for signs and symptons of disease with the chickens, potential problems with other chickens, what to look for, preventative measures, nothing.
The breeder who had sold the chickens to me recommended that I keep certain medications on hand for potential illnesses the chickens can get, and the vet refused to give me any medications - ""none were indicated."" You can buy these meds on the internet, but he refused to sell them to me.
This vet was arrogant, insensitive and completely uninformative. To top it off, I got a bill of $37 for the $10 fecal exam.
Never, ever use this vet!
