Editorial review from Citysearch 7/21/2013

Beyond filthy.....cold food everytime.....always hateful man at check-out......tasteless....nasty and dirty. Worst in Houston...(I normally do not complain but this is a nightare...visited several times thru the years to be fair - no improvements). more

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/30/2012

The food could not be worse. Even if they clean the scum off the air vents over the tables and invest in some quality servers, Andy?s cannot redeem the gross food items they put in front of me on my first/last visit. more

Yummy! 10/4/2010

Love. love, lovin the Andy's and have been for over a decade! Always order one of the combos- and it never disappoints. If you are in the mood for a delicious plate of good 'ol tex mex style cheese enchiladas with gravy this is your place. Service can be a little hit and miss but I still love it. A true Houston gem more

Worst Mexican Food I've Ever Had 6/10/2010

Went to eat their with some friends who recommended it... I can't imagine why. Habit, I suppose? Pros: Friendly waitstaff, 24/7 Cons: The food is God-awful. more

Best BLT ($2.79) and pancakes!!! 10/12/2008

I absolutely love the warm, almost creamy salsa! Even though I go in to order pancakes, I usually alternate bites of salsa/chip and pancake. The BLT is wonderfully crispy and excellent if you ask for avocado to be added in. The pancakes are delightfully fluffy and fulfilling for late-night cravings. Pros: 24/7, cheap, friendly!!! more

24 Hour Houston @ Its Finest 5/26/2008

Hey, a little grease on the menu is human, and frankly craved at 4:30AM in this sleepy city. \r \r The breakfast is delicious, especially items with potatoes, and definitely worth the extra buck or whatever it is at non-breakfast time. It's a Houston milestone and one of the few Mexican Restaurants that is not a(n evil, okay not evil) chain. Andy's is scrumptious greasy Mmmexican. more

credit cards 3/27/2008

Although it was a very small amount charged my stolen credit card that has my picture on it was used in your resturant. Maybe the employees can check a little more closely when people are paying with credit cards of any kind. more

Best Menudo in town! 2/21/2008

So, this is your typical mom and pop place. It's food is a little greasy, but it's worth it. I love the Carne Guisada plate (add cheese over everything) with HOMEMADE flour tortillas. Their FAJITA's are great. I just have to say that no matter what you try you'll love it. Oh and by the way BEWARE the green sauce it'll burn a whole in your throat. Pros: Menudo, Guisado, Homemade tortillas, the list goes on and on. Cons: parking lot is small, but park across the street on the side of the school and you'll be fine. more

Local charm I suppose but very very disappointing 11/24/2007

Finally went there a few months ago after moving to the area and reading several short articles about the resturant but was supremely disappointed. The place definitely has a homey feel to it, by no means spectacular but comforting. Very nice waitress and hostess. I ordered fajitas and my fiance ordered cheese enchiladas. The cheese enchiladas had a peculiar aftertaste and my fajitas were disappointing. The fajitas came as a fairly dry piece of meat with some peppers and onions on the side with what looked like a slice of quasi-melted cheese on top. The meat was dry and had hardly any flavor. Making good/great enchiladas and fajitas would seem to be a prerequisite for a mexican resturant. The ideal image of Andy's is great. Has been in the neighborhood a long time, family run, open 24 hours but the food is very disappointing. more

GREAT FOOD FOR A GOOD PRICE 10/29/2007

ANDY'S IS A GREAT LITTLE PLACE. THEIR FOOD HAS FLAVOR (WICH SOME PEOPLE SEEM TO NOT KNOW ABOUT). THE BEST THING ON THE MENUE IS THE #6. IT GIVES YOU A LITTLE OF EVERYTHING.THEY ARE A CLEAN PLACE WITH A WONDERFUL ATMOPHERE. THE WAIT STAFF IS VERY ATTENTIVE AND HAVE PATIENCE WHEN IT COMES TO FAMILY WITH CHILDREN. more

Why do we keep going back? 7/10/2007

Again, we keep going back b/c we just want to remind ourselves why we don't go there. Food is terrible. My hubby never complains about anything. He's got a stomach of steel, but he couldn't stand to be in this place more than a half hour. The tables were sticky as were the greasy menus. Ewww.\r \r I've never tasted mexican food this terrible.\r \r My hubby's boss says the same thing. The three times he's been there , he always vowes will be his last times there. Unfortunately for him, this is the place that his clients bring him to (believe me - he's not paying, the clients pay for the meal.)\r \r I don't recommend this place to even my enemy.\r \r Pros: their name makes you think they serve american food but they don't Cons: if food is what you call -what they serve more

WOW! By far the worst tex-mex i have ever had! 12/25/2006

I truly love mexican food, but andy's takes the cake on bad food all around.. i ordered fajitas, they looked microwaved and i couldnt even chew my food so i didnt eat.. lol. My girlfriend and her friends food was really salty and looked microwaved as well.. I was fooled by the other reviews.. they were nice enough to take the fajitas off our bill and the waitress was nice. thats about the only good thing i can truly say about this cafe. Pros: waitress was nice Cons: food was horrible.. more

love, love, love andy's 9/18/2005

wonderful food. i dont know what it is but even despite the fact that i've been to some of the best mexican places in houston i find that this one keeps me coming back to order my usual cheese enchiladas. i love them, very addictive. the service is also great- wonderful ladies- treat them right. and the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. modest place, not for the snooty. Pros: great food, service, prcie Cons: parking at peak times, restrooms are small, salsa isn't great more

Overrated 8/6/2003

Totally overrated, if that's possible for a place like this. Had a milanesa, and it was inedible. Cheap, and it tastes like it. more

I love andy's 2/7/2003

When I moved from Houston, one of the things I missed most was not being able to go to Andy's at 3 am to get mexican food. Andy's does mexican food the way it should be done. Pros: food, service more

NOT TOO BAD 12/11/2002

Ok, it's not the best mexican fare in town, but hey, what can you expect for $3.50. At Andy's you can expect a crispy taco, tostada, cheese enchalada, beans and rice. And fast service too. I can't say it's the best but it has to be the cheapest. And ya gotta love a place in the Heights that's open 24 hours a day. Pros: price, hours more

All night every night 8/20/2002

This is the place to go at 3 in the morning. The flour tortillas are always fresh, the fries are homecut, and the bistec ala mexicana is my favorite dish of comfort food. Also a good jukebox and sometimes surreal people. Pros: Good breakfasts, 24 Hours, Fine Juke Cons: Awful coffee, Teensy Restroom more

Best Dive Resteraunt 7/24/2002

I really like this place for some reason. Maybe it's because it's in the Heights, it's cheap, good food, fun atmosphere and I can take anyone there and they seem to really enjoy it. The waitresses are awesome and so so so polite. more

Comfort Food 7/20/2002

Everytime I go there I get one thing, Columbian Enchiladas (which are cheese enchiladas with a fried egg on top) ala carte and a small strawberry soda. I don't know what it is about this combination, but there are times when nothing else will do but a super gooey cheeze enchilada. I love to sit in the smoking section even though I am a non-smoker. It is more pleasant there and they have this cool red light. I also only go late night, it addsto the charm. more
