I called and told the owner of Amalia's that we were having a Bunko dinner on Wednesday evening for 12 people. He said that we could have the bar area to ourselves and to call the night before which I did to confirm the reservation. When I arrived 30 minutes early on Wednesday evening, the table was already filled with a group of 12 people who were walk-ins. The hostess assumed that because it was a party of 12 and that they were extremely early, that it was my reservation and seated the party of 12. The owner and I talked and I asked her how long she had been in business and she said 23 years (both Copperfield and now Grant/Louetta area.) It seemed odd to me that having gone to her business while in Copperfield many years ago, that she wouldn't know how to train the hostess. We were seated at another table and served. The service was good and the food was good, but I was extremely disappointed by the lack of attention to detail and the lack of training. If you move your place of business to where your regulars now are, you need to cater to them in a more professional manner and take the name, phone number, and number in the party, and not give the reservation to someone else. The other party should have been seated somewhere else.
