Best

Alons is great. I'd get The blueberry muffin for breakfast the creme brûlée for desert and the tomato basil soup for lunch.

Worst

The cakes including the Midnight Cake was nothing special. And the BBQ Salmon sandwich was terrible. I was really disappointed with Alon's.

Alon's Bakery is legendary. Its rustic breads, its delicious pastries, and its drinks bring customers from miles around to this little store in Virginia Highlands. During lunch time, this place gets very crowded with people grabbing a sandwich or soup from the bakery, so get there early if you don't want to stand in line. Also, this is the perfect place to get a dessert cake or maybe even a birthday cake, if you've got money to spend. While their pastries may be expensive, they're worth every penny. more

Absolutely Outstanding! 8/6/2005

The café / bakery has been highly ranked for years for its outstanding desserts and sandwiches. Nestled in the Virginia Highlands, Alon’s is a real treat for the taste buds. They have excellent pastries, cookies, and cakes as well as interesting sandwiches. This is a great place to pick up some desserts or food for a picnic, just get there early they sell out of things fast. more

Exceptional Atlanta Bakery 8/6/2005

As I stumbled upon Alon's en route to a friend's place, I found, what I believed to be, the best bakery in Atlanta to serve the freshest salads, baked breads, deli sandwiches, and an assortment of other baked goods/market items all conveniently located under one roof. That particular day, I ordered a loaf of ciabata, a slice of New York Style Cheesecake, Creme Brulee, a Lemon-Chicken Pesto sandwich, a 1/4 lb. case of Home Made Tuna Salad, and a 1/4 lb. case of Hummus. I decided to wait until I arrived at my friend's house to try the items, and when I told him that I bought the items from Alon's bakery, he affirmed my decision with a "great choice!" I'd definitely recommend Alon's to anyone looking for convenience, value, freshness, and great taste conveniently located in a corner bakery more

Great bakery/deli 8/6/2005

Great products...i mean lots and lots of freshly made bread and pastries. The bread is of good quality, especially the artisan ones. The pastries are also excellent, but the chocolate used leaves more to be wanted. The price is also just a tad higher than average, but considering this is an above average product, that is to be expected more
