Great Bike Shop 5/18/2011

I purchased two bikes from Stu and have had them maintained and repaired there for the past several years. The only time I wasn't completely satisfied was one time when Stu was on holiday and the young man in the shop told me he hadn't had the training required to do the repair I required. I give him a 'A' for honesty. The people and service have always been first rate. I was surprised to read the negative comments. more

Great bike shop 3/20/2011

Alki Bike and Board is a great local bike shop. The owner Stu is very helpful and friendly. They are very passionate about bicycle commuting, and shopping locally. They offer free maintenance classes that are very informative. Last summer I decided to start bicycle commuting to work and the free class gave me the confidence to do roadside repair on my own. I highly recommend this shop. more

Great repair shop, great customer service 1/15/2009

Initially I steered clear of this shop, thinking I am a little too old to be in their demographic, but after hearing great reviews from all my West Seattle biking friends I thought I'd give it a try. Pros: Really nice customer service Cons: can sometimes get busy more

Thanks for the input 11/8/2008

Good input. Our company does not actively try to get these reviews posted; maybe we should as we get a huge number of positive feedbacks. As for those who had a bad experience we adjust to these situations in manners such as employee retraining and possible replacement. To truly have an effect on your local businesses it would be wise to contact the owner. I personally respond to these matters. After 22 years as owner of a community-based business there are very few negative comments posted and that is after thousands of repair completions. Please continue to support your local businesses and by all means keep riding your bicycles. more

AVOID THIS PLACE FOR BIKE MAINTENANCE! 8/2/2008

My brakes needed adjustment. The so-called repairman took one look at it and said it was fine. I said it wasn't working properly, that it was rubbing on the rim. He didn't want to work on the bike. After several of my entreaties, he finally said he would keep it, work on it later that day, and call me when ready. When I picked up the bike, the brake was still out of adjustment. The bill for nothing was $12. I wasted my time and money. Don't waste yours. Cons: Totally ineffective bicycle mainenance more

BIKERS BEWARE!! WORST SERVICE EVER!! 6/22/2006

I have gone there 4-5 times because it is very close to my house, but every time I go the service is TERRIBLE. The last time I went the girl behind the counter was rude and unhelpful. I asked her for help finding a part for my bike and she just pointed to the back. To her credit, she was busy reading a magazine. The bike tech was busy, but he asked if I needed help, I told him what I was looking for, and he walked me to the front glass counter where the part was kept, UNDER THE GIRLS ELBOW!! The were out of stock, and the girl handed the tech a catalog, and went back to reading her magazine. He had two customers waiting for him, and she wouldn't help him out. He finally found the part, and she took the catalog from him and told me the part would cost $180 without even checking. The price was not listed in the catalog. I left and bought the part on line for $100. I will never again go to Alki Bike and Board, as this was one of many incidents like this. The bike techs are OK, but the floor staff is AWFUL. They seem to be more concerned with snow boards and roller blades than bikes. As a avid road bike rider, I will take my bike and my business elswhere. Pros: Bike techs Cons: Everything else more
