This place is RACIST! I'm not usually one to pull the race card.... I try to believe I'm living in 2012 and NOT 1965 but sometimes I'm sadly reminded of my beautiful chocolate ...

New Ownership 9/25/2007

let me preface this by saying the Bronx used to be my favorite bar in The Village. I couldn't wait for it to open back up after the new ownership remodeled and were closed all summer. not only would the door man nor the owner allow my 4 friends in, they had the ba*ls to say it was because the bar was packed. they had just let me in and I was literally one of four patrons inside. i overhear the bouncer tell another staffer that they aren't supposed to let in ""darkies"". this wasn't just an isolated incident since i went back two weeks later and witnessed a nicely dressed man and woman being told they wouldn't be allowed in even though there group of at least 15 was already inside. Although i wasn't the one being discriminated against it was still amazing that a bar in rice village would discriminate this blatantly. i will definitely not be going back. oh and i happen to be white. more

laid-back place to dance in rice village 11/23/2006

the location of this place is perfect: in the heart of rice village, amidst numerous bars and hangout spots. quite a popular place for dancing after chilling and drinking at one of it's neighboring pubs. though, it does get crowded with a nice mix crowd. come as you are, there is no dress code,* Pros: location, laid-back Cons: parking, crowded more

Great Bartender!!! 9/14/2006

If she is still there (it's been awhile), go see the amazing skills of the beautiful Tiffany. She is more than worth braving a tiny packed bar for and her flare for drink making is pretty hot as well. Cons: TOO small for the crowd and area more

Best Bar in the Village 10/6/2005

Bronx Bar is a welcome alternative to the long-time Village dives (e.g., Gingerman) and boring college kid bars that have popped up around it (Baker Street, Brian O'Neils). The jeans-and-tennis-shoes-on-a-Saturday-night crowd may not feel comfortable at Bronx, but anyone looking for good music, a great crowd and lots of energy will be right at home. There is a reason this bar has survived so long in Houston. Pros: caliber of crowd, music, atmosphere Cons: smoking allowed insid, parking more

Bronx has a great crowd, bartenders, drinks, & music. I have spent many nights in this bar and highly recommend it as a low-key, fun place to go w/o having to go downtown to party. more

Not bad... 4/20/2003

The crowd is kind of weak before midnight, but once everyone comes in it's pretty cool. It's a small place with just a bar and a patio, but that doesn't stop the great atmosphere. People are inside dancing and outside chatting. Recommended. Pros: Fairly priced drinks, Nice young crowd Cons: Slow before midnight, Small, No proper dance floor more

Whoever said the the bartenders at the Bronx are a joke has probably never bartnded a day in his life. If he had he would know better than to say that. The Bronx is a VERY crowded bar with a lot of pushy guys. I go there a lot because of friends and the ambiance, but I can't handle dealing with the guys just a patron...Icouldn't imagine what the bartenders put up with. The bartenders bust their asses at the Bronx. I know for a fact that it's not that easy. So for the igroant yuppie who made that comment....you're a joke! more

Great Bartenders, Nice Crowd 11/25/2002

A welcome NY-decorated bar amidst a bunch of overly crowded ""Irish""/""British"" bars with nothing but beer & wine. Great trendy crowd, people are always coming and going here. The bar is big enough to not feel packed in at the bar, but small enough so that you don't get lost. The bartenders have always been great (Alisa & Steve), and they are always serving up great drinks. I don't know what all the negative press is about here - I love Bronx Bar. [I don't understand why it's listed under ""Restaurants"" here... it's a bar] Pros: Great bartenders, Good crowd, Good drinks more
