Best

It had been a while since I've eaten at watershed, so I wasn't sure what to expect when we went here last night. My family was in town, so it was close to where they were staying...

Worst

The staff here were really nice, as was the coffee (tasty!) but we were surprised (we live in London and NY so maybe our expectations were too high?) by how ordinary the brunch wa...

A big dissappointment 7/7/2004

The service started out so poorly, that it would have taken a lot to recover. Unfortunately, the rest was down-hill too. more

Stop Nit-Picking! 6/24/2004

I never thought Watershed could be a love it or hate it kind of place. If you enjoy urban life then you should be prepared to spend some $$ and tough out any slightly uncomfortable situation. The food and atmosphere at Watershed is certainly reason enough to ignore any small problems you may have with the experience. The fried chicken is out of this world and the chocolate cake is to die for. Brunch is amazing (try a Bloody Mary - one of the best in town). I feel it's the best modern take on traditional southern food that I've ever had. I come from a long line of cooks and, being an avid cook myself, I had to buy the cookbook. It's the best one I've ever owned. My review is gushing, I know, but I felt the need to balance out the negative reviews here. Pros: Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great Service Cons: , Yes, Walls Are Cement, Yes, Chairs Are Hard more

What's with all the bad reviews!!?? 2/10/2004

I think this place is fantastic - I'm so surprised that there are so many bad reviews!! I think this is a great restaurant with fabulous food. We've been here many times and have never been disappointed. The service isn't the fastest in Atlanta, but still friendly. Plus, when we're eating out to enjoy ourselves, who wants to be rushed? Try the garlic spaghetti - its amazing. And the tomato basil soup and mushroom appetizer (on special) are excellent. And not sure why all the complaints about price - I think their prices are quite reasonable and compare with other restaurants of its caliber. We eat out quite often at some of the best places around and this still remains one of our favorites. Pros: delicious food, great atmosphere more

Mixed feelings 7/7/2003

Just ate there for the first time this weekend--was wowed by the lovely space and creative Southern menu. Veggies--squash, butter beans--were down-home delicious. Shrimp po-boy was tasty on crusty baguette, if a bit expensive ($9 with no side items). Big problem, though, with service. Perhaps they lost our ticket--it took our food an hour and 15 minutes to arrive after we placed our orders. They obviously felt bad and gave us gratis cups of yummy tomato-basil soup to ""tide us over,"" but still. It killed the experience. I'd give them a second chance, though. more

On kids 3/1/2003

In the review it says kids-no. That would just depend on the children I believe. Well behaved children that love wonderful food would fit in great. more

Unhappy 2/16/2003

The worst service ever, very limited menu. poor management. Do go! more

simple isnt always good 1/20/2003

watershed has a concept- not a bad thing, but southern ingredients dont always mean a great dish. enough of shrimp and grits and fish with tubers. it felt like the kitchen could have done more, but was dumbing it down. cinder block walls are not sexy, charming or lovably simple. risk more, i say. Pros: without pretence, a culinary vision, fresh Cons: cinder block walls, gift shop, safe cooking more

Second-best In Decatur 12/4/2002

The food here is the best in Decatur -- focused, well-executed, fresh flavors. The service was top notch and the prices were reasonable considering the quality (expensive by most standards, but a better value than most quality restaurants -- certainly better than the Supper Club around the corner). The chairs broke my ass, though. It's hipster and pleasant enough inside, but just thinking about sitting in those god-awful chairs again gives me the shivers. If you're looking for food experience, go here. If you're looking for comfort, go to Eurasia and be pampered. Pros: Focused flavors, Fresh ingredients, Changing menu Cons: The chairs SUCK more

Sure, if you like to ear in Pottery Barn 11/6/2002

I've only been to Watershed once...and won't go back. The food was overpriced, and I just felt like we were in the middle of some photo shoot for Pottery Barn. It was definitely too pretentious for my tastes. Food was ok, not great. Crescent Moon, Sushi Avenue, or the Brick Store are all much more my speed. more

A party in my mouth... 10/17/2002

The Hummus is by far, by FAR, the best I have ever had. The white truffle chicken salad is not to be missed. Nor is their mashed sweet potatoes. The food was reasonable - the drinks were way overpriced. Pros: Food Cons: Price more

no value...no way 8/28/2002

wow...i could've put a downpayment on a car for i spent for a ""small"" dinner. Food was fine...but service was almost non-existant. I could've helped myself faster. At least it wasn't crowded. No value here. Pros: no wait Cons: poor service, too expensive, over hyped more

best food in Decatur 8/17/2002

This restaurant has the best food and service in Decatur with a great, but expensive wine list to match. Pros: food Cons: loud more

nice place 7/26/2002

The ambiance of the restraunt was good, the food was good, and I had an overall enjoyable experiance. The filet mignon was absolutely delicious and their deserts are to die for! more

I'll go back anytime 6/2/2002

Overall, this restaurant offers one of Atlantas most pleasurable dining experiences. Its retro modern decor is minimal and chic without being icy, save the uncomfortable metal chairs. The atmosphere is on par with its Decatur address--unpretentious and energetic--and the service is extra friendly. The dishes are creative and high in quality. Stick to recommendations if you get them, such as the fried chicken (only on Tuesday nights) or a fish special (Ive had bass cooked with garlic croutons inside that was phenomenal); the gumbo and some of the pasta dishes have been uneventful. Whats cool about this place is that if you like the wine you had with dinner, you can buy a bottle at retail on the way out. more
