It had been a while since I've eaten at watershed, so I wasn't sure what to expect when we went here last night. My family was in town, so it was close to where they were staying; Watershed did not disappoint. The FOOD was amazing, and the service was excellent. I had the porkbelly appetizer, with the Trout and crabmeat topping, great job. And the prices weren't too high, which was nice. I'll definitely go back more often after this last experience, thanks guys! more

Awesome!!! 10/6/2009

We happened to be in the area and went as long time Indigo Girls fans. That said, I just can't say enough good about the food and service! Even the space - a funky old converted garage- is adorable! Our waiter was personable yet brief- just right. The food was exactly to our liking- nothing was lacking in any way- I never touched a salt or pepper shaker, which always bodes well of good cooking! We ordered the infamous fried chicken (crispy and piping hot) w/mashed potatoes (creamy yet lumpy- mmm!), and garlic seasoned green beans. The tomato basil soup was the best I've ever had (actually bought some to go)- and I'm a soup snob, so that's saying something. The butter bean hummus appetizer was delightful- from the spanish olives to the warm flat bread- yum yum yum! Very fair price. What a wonderful, memorable dinner! EAT HERE! :0) Pros: Tomato basil soup- the ***BEST*** Cons: - more

Lowering my rating with regret 8/6/2009

To say that I was a Watershed fan would be an understatement. I dined at Watershed the first week it was open. It was the ""go to"" occasion restaurant for us - for out of town guests, gift certificates for teachers and friends, as well as the place we *always* wanted to dash to when we had the rare, unexpected kid free evening. Sadly, the operative word is ""was"" as after our last visit I can't imagine any circumstances that would compel us to return.\r The food, I must hasten to say, was as always, fabulous. We arrived at 8 pm on a weeknight, and the restaurant was about 3/4 full. The waitress had to be prompted to tell us the specials, and then, once our food was delivered did not return to the table unless summoned for the rest of the evening. Water went unfilled, we were not offered wine after our pre-dinner cocktails, and she did not bother to check in with us to see if we wanted a second glass, dessert or an after dinner drink. Seemingly, a restaurant manager's worst nightmare... the server who does not care to up-sell; yet when we complained to the manager at the end of the evening after lingering at an empty table with dirty dishes but no water, no check and no drinks, dessert etc. the manager simply made a little moue of regret and said, ""Oh really? I'm sorry."" We left disgusted at how much we had paid for such bad service.\r The Shed at Glenwood Park is our new ""go to"" restaurant. The drinks are innovative, the wine list respectable, the dishes seasonal and well prepared, the menu changes almost daily - something that Watershed stopped doing some time ago - and the service is great - warm without being cloying, attentive and knowledgeable. When the kitchen (or the waiter) messes up, they make it right with the patron. Sadly, Watershed seems to be coasting these days and there are too many other great establishments in Atlanta that NEED the business these days and will treat their patrons accordingly to bother with such insultingly bad service.\r Pros: The food is still top notch Cons: Service appallingly bad more

Watershed in Decatur 7/28/2009

Your review \r Watershed in Decatur? - sdfooo? - Today\r It was one of the worse experiences I have ever had. It was my birthday and my 2 sons had never been to Watershed. My birthday falls on a Tuesday about once every 6-7 years. I was excited that it was on the day that they advertise their special- fried chicken which has been in many magazines. That's all you read or hear about is there fried chicken. I made reservations several days in advance and the 1st advailable was at 7:15pm. We arrived at 7:00 after having a difficult time trying to find a place to park. We waited for 30 minutes. We all knew we wanted fried chicken. When the waiter came, I told him we all wanted the special, fried chicken. He said, ""We're out of fried chicken. You have to be here before 7:00 to get fried chicken."" NO WHERE did they have posted that they were out of their special. They knew about how many people would be coming because almost everyone had reservations. If they run out of chicken at 7:00 every Tuesday, then why don't they make more???? They need to post in their magazines that they run out of food every week also. We were so disappointed that we got up and left. I will NEVER go there again. \r \r \r Cons: Out of food every week so don't plan to get what you want more

Disappointed 5/13/2009

Finally got our act together to venture into Decatur to sample some of the fare there. First stop, Watershed for lunch. Any staff we encountered was very nice and efficient. Looks like a well oiled machine in that regard. However, it's all about the food and that's where they came up short. Starters....fried catfish on the bone....good but a lot of work for a few bites....tomato basil soup tasty but where was the basil? Next course, ham and cheese sandwich, very tasty, buttery, cheesy, hammy, just the way it's supposed to be. Hamburger with cheddar cheese...got it medium as requested but it was very dry, couldn't taste the cheese at all...big disappointment. Did like the fries but the side of gingered beets tasted more like just pickled beets. The collard greens were good but lacked a lot of the pizzazz that makes them so yummy. So I ask the question....would I go here again before I try another great restaurant in the ATL area, the answer is absolutely not! Pros: I Liked the Ambience Cons: Not Impressed with Much Else more

Best. Food. Ever. 5/5/2009

I have wanted to try Watershed for years and finally had dinner there. We had reservations on a Saturday and we were warmly greeted and seated promptly. Our waiter was very nice and our drinks were great! I ordered a ""Hideout"", a grapefruit infused vodka and cranberry mixture that was one of the best drinks I've ever had. A friend had the orange Cosmo, which was also great. We had the pimento cheese as an appetizer and it was really good. I had a wonderful spinach salad--again, one of the best I've ever had!--and a burger. (I'm a burger freak and this one did not disappoint.) My friend had a pork chop that melted in your mouth with fantastic collards and mac and cheese as good as my mother's. (A great compliment coming from a southern girl!) The meal was awesome and my only regret is that we were too full to try dessert, as there were at least 4 things I wanted to taste. We'll be back . . . soon! Pros: Food is great, drinks are even better! more

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!! 1/16/2009

IVE ALWAYS HEARD ABOUT HOW GREAT WATERSHED IS AND LAST NIGHT I HAD A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY! THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT, THE WINE LIST IS EXTENSIVE AND THE FOOD WAS SOME OF THE BEST IVE EVER HAD IN ATLANTA. TRY THE LAMB SHANK!!! I CANT WAIT TO EAT THERE AGAIN. Pros: FOOD, AMBIENCE, SERVICE, VALUE Cons: ? more

Disappointing and Overrated 12/1/2008

Having wanted to go to Watershed for several years, but just not having the flexibility to drive to Decatur on a Tuesday night, I was very excited to finally get the opportunity. We had family in town from California who wanted a ""Southern experience"". Our 7:45 reservation did not seem too late to us, especially with left-coasters along, but the ill-prepared chef, must not have had forethought to order enough chicken. Our waiter told us as we were sitting, that the kitchen was out of the fried delicacy. Disappointed as we were, (all four of us had planned to oreder it) we all moved ahead with altenate selections. The appetizers were pretty good, mussels and lobster grits, but the lamb shank entree ordered by two of us, was again scarcely allocated, and we were told we could only have one. I admit I was now angry. The duck was okay, if not a tad bland, and the one lamb shank we were so lucky to receive, arrived listless and lacking any real flavor aside from the salt I added. The spinach bed of greens made me feel like I was eating something healthy, but boring as well. Our waiter was at least friendly and apologetic, but were ready to leave by the time we were asked if dessert was an interest. We left unsatisfied and uninterested in returning Pros: Friendly waiter Cons: Out of several entrees, high wine markup more

Mostly misses the mark. 9/23/2008

Watershed is one of those restaurants that at once seems impressive, but after leaving, you're always wanting for more. And it's generally difficult to put a finger on exactly what is wrong. Generally speaking, the food is adequate, at best. However, DO NOT miss Tuesday Fried Chicken. It's the best fried chicken you're going to find. Everything else on the menu just doesn't live up. I've had dinner on weeknights and weekends and brunch on Sundays. I never, ever, feel like the restaurant lives up to its hype. To be guided by a Southern food expert, the restaurant, which proclaims a specialty in ""seasonal Southern cooking"", misses the mark on so many levels. Example: Sunday Brunch. The Sunday brunch menu is typically southern -- ham, eggs, grits, bacon, biscuits, gravy, hash, toast. It's a good offering. Unfortunately, the execution is nothing to speak of. The biscuits, something quintessentially Southern that one would expect a Southern food expert to execute without flaw, are utterly flavorless -- a pure disappointment. On the ham steak plate, the red eye gravy is nothing more than a cup of warm, weak, black coffee poured over the plate. The grits rank ZERO on the flavor scale. The ham is good. Don't get your eggs fried -- you will not be able to cut into them. The sausage gravy and biscuits plate is pasty, and tastes like flour and I've already spoke of the biscuits, see above. I've had friends who've had the French Toast and they have enjoyed it. The banana fritters are a pure joy to eat. \r \r Now, I will continue to go to Watershed to eat -- I have friends who enjoy eating there. But my word of caution to anyone going there for the first time: don't be surprised if you are disappointed and be very thankful if you have an good experience there. Overall, if you're seeking excellent Southern food that is wonderfully prepared, go the South City Kitchen or Blue Ridge Grill -- you'll enjoy the food and the service much more. more

One of the best dining experiences! 9/17/2008

My husband and I dined at Watershed last night for our anniversary. We had a reservation at 7:30 pm. We found a parking place right up front. Our waiter was a pure joy. He was very happy and helpful. I would ask for his table next time we go (and that will be very soon!). We ordered the butter bean hummus to start ? delicious. It was creamy and peppery and we loved the soft pita and crisp green beans that were served with it. I ordered the oven baked bbq chicken and my husband ordered the catfish. He said that it was the best catfish he had ever had! My chicken was moist and yummy. The sides were great as well. The coleslaw was perfect ? not too much mayo. The corn and tomatoes were so fresh they seemed like they were picked that day! Then we had coffee and chocolate cake. And the cake was simply divine. It was warm and quiet in the restaurant as well which made it even more enjoyable as well as not being super crowded. We are so excited to go back again and take our friends and family with us! Pros: Amazing waiter! Great ambience! Excellent Food! Cons: There are no cons as far as we could tell! more
