My experience at Ummelina was wonderful. I always worry about the stress of parking, but this time I walked into downtown which definitely took the stress away. The mood set in ...

The receptionists were fairly abrupt and whoever helped me pick out my treatment over the phone was very unhelpful. Hello? I'm saying 'help me spend my money at your spa' and you ...

I'm becoming a regular! 9/23/2003

It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into making Ummelina a very unique place. I have been in spas all over the world and this one is truly "world class". No other spa in the city can match it's unusual treatments and attention to detail. I'll be back........ Pros: attention to details, atmosphere, treatments more

Happy Customer 3/21/2003

The reviews were wrong! I had an excellent, soothing, relaxing, peaceful experience at Ummelina Day Spa. What a treat! Oceana is absolutely heaven - I will soak in it every time I visit the spa. My massage was deep/intense and relaxing all in one. The facial was the perfect ending - I could have floated home on a cloud! Go to Ummelina's - Give yourself the treat! Pros: peacefull, beautiful Cons: I didn't find one... more

Positive Growth 12/6/2002

I am a longtime client of Ummelina and certainly have experienced the odd appointment mix-up and abrupt treatment from the front desk. However, I consistently receive wonderful services that beat every other spa in town. I have also noticed that there has been a remarkeable change in turnover so the same friendly guides are there to greet me again and again. It has been a joy to experience the growth and change of this one of a kind spa. Pros: Knowledgeable staff, Creative treatments, Relaxing atmosphere Cons: Expensive more

The receptionists were fairly abrupt and whoever helped me pick out my treatment over the phone was very unhelpful. Hello? I'm saying 'help me spend my money at your spa' and you have nothing to suggest? I chose the "Sun Worshiper" which includes a hot salt shower which was my favorite part: you go into a hot steamy dark shower room with candles and are given a bowl of amazing oil salts to exfoliate with - very relaxing (but I could probably do this at home). The hydrobath lasted too long and the young woman who did the tan was nice but way too chatty and my tan came out was streaky! When you pay for it you shouldn't have streaks. I wanted more relaxed pampering. I liked the lounge chairs and the tea but in general the place felt a little too hustle and bustle to me. Pros: Hot Oil Salt Scrub, Tea, Lounge chairs Cons: Streaky tan, Ambivalent reception, Chatty 'spa guide' more

Paradise! 10/23/2002

I love this place! They have a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere. I have been twice and both times I received a massage. It was wondeful. It starts off with a relaxing foot bath with a glass of tea or water. My mom thought massages were frivolous until I surprised her with a massage from here. Well worth it! more

The atmostphere, the friendly staff, the pleasant environment, the peacefulness...The experience @ Ummelina's is one that I treasure. I would go every week if I could afford it. If you want to get centered...go here. Pros: Atmosphere, Peaceful, Calm Cons: A little expensive more

  • The Scene
Nina Ummel has gone to great lengths (and distances) to bring her clients a unique spa experience: hand-carved teak doors from Java; 27 exquisite teas from around the world; and the solarium, a quiet place reminiscent of a luxurious Eastern destination. Wicker chairs, flowing silk drapes and natural light diffused by bamboo blinds provide an exotic beginning to your "journey."

    The Services

The Equator is a two-hour indulgence: spend 20 minutes relaxing in a waterfall shower before moving into a steam room infused with the scent of essential oils, followed by a salt rub and water massage. Finally, enter a dry sauna where warm oils and muds are rubbed into your skin. The signature Revive facial employs an enzyme peel instead of traditional extractions for a gentler approach to deep pore cleansing.

    The Details
Whirlpool, soaking tub, steam room, dry sauna, waterfall shower. Massage, body treatments, wet treatments, acupuncture, facials, hair removal, sunless tanning, manicure/pedicure, full-service salon.
