Worth Every Penny 4/23/2011

A friend gave me a gift card for this spa. My therapist there was personable, made you feel like you were the only one she was attending to. She used high tech equipment, very clean and modern facilities, restful, relaxing and I felt safe. I decided to try the Microdermabrasion for my tired looking skin. I signed up for a series and have had two so far and they were fabulous. My friends kept asking me what I had done because I looked so much younger and vibrant. I have had these before at another spa but the results were not that great. She knows what she is doing. I also had two other treatments for cellulite that made me look a lot better for swim season. I am getting older and it seems to take a whole village to make you look better. Thanks to this spa, I feel and look a whole lot better. It is not that costly for these services, and it is worth it they accomplish what you want them to. I will keep going back to get the look I want. My husband loves it. more

This place is a pearl!! 3/25/2011

I found it randomly online in a search for Houston spas and am SO glad I did. My facialist was very knowledgeable and made me feel very relaxed. She was very thorough in the cleansing, exfoliating, and extraction part which I needed desperately. The treatment left my skin glowing and my spirit reenergized. She even recommended some great at home care for me to use in everyday life. Afterward, I relaxed in the steam room and then showered in their huge ladies relaxation room. The staff was very friendly and approachable, and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely book services again with Rena at The Rendezvous Spa. more

They Cure My Agony 3/23/2011

Esmeralda is a goddess! I called in at the last minute and the front desk girls were wonderful to squeeze me in. I was in agony and Esmeralda took it all away with an amazing touch and those hot stones. She has done work on me off and on for the past few years, since she was recommended by a coworker. She has great technique and a firm understanding of the muscular system and how to work it. I have been other places ,but other therapists are not able to provide firmness and depth to their work when I request it, Esmeralda always delivers. She also has flexibility enough to tailor each session to what I want. I never hesitate when I need a great massage for relaxing or when I have strained something. more

Brand New Find for Me 3/22/2011

I just went to a great day spa a friend told me about – The Rendezvous Spa. I had what I can only describe as the BEST pedicure ever! I had the Aroma Pedicure (foot soak, scrub, mask, wonderful foot/leg massage, etc.) and by far it was the most thorough pedicure. I must say, I have been too many spas and this spa offers top notch service and products in a great neighborhood location. They told me that they had just gotten new pedicure chairs. They were wonderful! more

SUPERFICIAL HYPE 3/8/2011

Honestly you have to have lost your sense of smell if you like going there. The odor of incense-candel is so strong it is nauseating. Enya type of music repeats itself every 3 minutes. One of the sauna was not working when I was there. The front desk messed up my appointment so I was left sitting for 45 minutes waiting for my turn. The message therapist I got finally kept on repeating herself saying I need to drink water to fill up my muscles and need to see her once a week and go to a particular yoga class in town. Sounds like a scam just to bring in business. more

What a Letdown!! 1/24/2011

I found that the Rendezvous Spa was a mixture of high-class and poorly-cared-for facilities, with more issues than not. I visited this spa in January 2011 using a spa package / special deal purchased through the Travelzoo website. The first part was a 30 minute “relaxation” massage. The massage bed had a fitted sheet on it, but the only cover once on the bed was a regular white bath towel. This is the only massage I’ve ever received (and I’ve had at least 30) where a sheet wasn’t provided for cover. A towel is hardly wide enough to cover the bed, much less a person laying on the bed. The massage itself was just mediocre. The masseuse only used about two or three major movements and hardly rubbed on my neck muscles at all. Next was a seaweed body wrap, which I’m extremely glad I didn’t pay full price for. I pictured sheets of seaweed being used, but instead a warm seaweed creamy pureed substance was quickly slathered on my body (took 2 mins?), and I was wrapped in the plastic sheeting on the bed. It took a few minutes before my body produced enough heat to not have goosebumps, so at least the next 15 mins weren’t completely miserable. An eye mask or something would really add a nice touch here, since I felt like she was just trying to get things done as quickly as possible otherwise. The rinse-off was mostly moving the showerheads back and forth and very little else. I was also scheduled for a foot soak, which they had forgotten about and I had to remind them of as they were leading me out. As the lady realized it was on my schedule after all, I was made to wait… and wait… and wait. 5-10 minutes later, when a random employee walked by and asked what I was waiting for, I was taken into a sad-looking room for the footsoak. The room had an old shower stall with a broken tension rod/curtain up to hide the messy pile of towels in it. And the footsoak was literally a plastic storage container (the kind that usually comes with a lid) with a plastic bag and the electronic part of the machine in it. Not exactly luxurious! The wine came in a regular throw-away plastic cup, and the “cheese plate” had small pieces of what was probably Kraft Colby Jack cheese sliced with a few crackers. Overall, this spa describes their services in far more luxury than they actually deliver, and even if they halved their prices, I wouldn’t be a customer. I’m not sure how they got so many good ratings previously, but obviously something has gone downhill at this facility. more

The Vichy Shower is WONDERFUL! 1/18/2011

I purchased a special package that had a seaweed wrap, a fresher massage, and Ionic foot bath and a wine and cheese plate. I was so excited to get such a deal for so many different treatments. I was a little apprehensive at first to do a seaweed wrap in a Vichy Shower, but I was going to be brave. I LOVED IT! The warm water that was massaged into me, the seaweed wrap warmed me through and through, the cold and hot water rinse at the end left my skin tingly and fresh. Once I got passed the being in a shower with another person it was the most amazing feeling I have felt. I followed that with a refresher massage, which just made me relax and melt. I ended with a foot bath and a wine & cheese plate. The whole day was just perfect. I had been here for facials before, but now I have found a new love in the Vichy Shower. more

Awesome wanna do it again :) 1/14/2011

My husband is so awesome! I am seven months pregnant and feeling totally awkward and huge. My husband has been in and out of town on business trips, so as an “I’m sorry I have not been here the whole time” he got m a spa day. I loved it! The girls at the front desk whisked me into the relaxation room and I got to just sit and calm down. I was impressed with how smooth the transition was from outside hustle and bustle to inside not a worry in the world. I started with a fabulous pregnancy massage. The special pregnancy bed was great, and I was completely relaxed. I then a European Facial. I have never had a facial before. Massages I knew, but facials are new to me. She was great. She told me about my skin, gave me some great tips for the future, and invited me back for a specific type of peel when I was no longer pregnant. I ended with a superb manicure and pedicure. She looked at my nails and informed me how I can nourish them and make them stronger and healthier then what I was currently doing to them. I am so glad my husband surprised me. I hope I can do it again soon. more

A Scam... Under new Management 1/7/2011

This is no longer the same spa!! They are no longer Bergamos. It is now Rendezvous and they do not honor any gift cards that were purchased in the last month. Completely rude management! Find a different place, this used to be great, now it's just A SCAM!!! more

I fit right in. 6/27/2010

I was told about Bergamos Rendezvous by a friend of my fiance's. I had told her I was looking for a place where I could walk in and feel that from start to finish my money was well spent. Im kinda picky that way. For the most part I would say that I am not a spa guy. But I had heard great things about massages for a runner and so I figured I would try it out. Best part of this spa was that they treated me as if I was a long time client and that I was an important part of their day. I guess my own ideas that spas are a "girl thing" had held me back. But I fit right in. Not only was the service great and the massage therapist worked out some very tight running muscles, I also had time to shower shave and get ready for my date. I was shocked that they had so many things there available for me to use. Overall - I would suggest this place to any of my friends. It was a great afternoon and a very relaxing thing to do before going downstairs for some drinks. Pros: Great atmosphere for men as well! more

Suprised and Inspired 6/27/2010

Im not much for reviews - but I thought I should post because I found this spa by a link to citysearch. I have been to quite a few spas - and I guess what was the most impressive to me was the "extras" Being new to reviews - I read some of the others just to see how people wrote...and I found it funny. Some of the pieces that I love the most were not even mentioned. I got a scrub treatment and the service was great because they had a very impressive 6 headed shower head swing. But it is the little things that suprised me. For instance, once my scrub was done there is a body butter that they have to help rejuv. your skin - I found it Amazing that she let me take the unused cream home with me to further my body treatment. In between services I knew I would be able to relax like at any other spa - but here they had a steam room and a sauna...and once again the little things impressed me. There were cold towels waiting outside the hot sauna. There was iced tea and cookies outside the relaxation. Overall the only down side is that I dont live closer. But for me it is worth the drive everytime I want to sit back and treat myself... or lessen my wrinkles (thank you facials!!) :) Pros: Great overall atmosphere and amazing services! Cons: I wish I lived closer more

Bad Experience 6/26/2010

I had a very bad experience here, both with the staff providing the massage, and from the management. I had allowed the person at the front desk to select a massage therapist for me, which totally did not work out. This therapist, due to - I will just say, in my humble opinion - neglecting her personal hygiene - caused some harm to me. In addition, I had asked this massage therapist, to lighten up on the "touch," and that person did not respond to my request. Afterwards, I felt muscular pain for a period of about one week. Upon being informed of this incident, the management said that they would "investigate." Anyone with good management skills would know that a customer wants a show of concern and an offer of compensation, not an "investigation." And they would also be aware that a dissatisfied customer will very likely write a review such as this one. I had been at this spa many times before, with good result, but apparently, the management and/or its response to customers has changed. In any event, the "investigation" yielded nothing, and no show of concern or offer of compensation was made.. This establishment allowed a fairly regular customer who had spent thousands of dollars for services - that is myself - walk away with a feeling of extreme discontent and dissatisfaction. Of course, I will never go back to this spa, or attempt to have a conversation with these people again. more

Fabulous Spa 6/5/2010

I have been in Houston for several months now and I normally do some regular spa treatments at a salon, but I wanted to treat myself to an experience since I was celebrating a milestone in my life. I am so glad I decided to try Bergamos Rendezvous Spa. I moved down here from New York and the spa reminded me of a place that would be on the Eastside. It is understated yet classic and elegant. The staff was friendly and attentive but not over bearing. The entire day it was all about me. I know that they had many other guests but I never seemed like a number. I was treated like I was the only one in the spa. Since I was celebrating I tried a number of types of services. I think by the end of my treatments I must have had about six different people perform a service on me. It was fabulous! They knew their profession and even explained some things I was doing that would not be beneficial to what I wanted to accomplish. It seemed like everyone took the time to see me and I was not rushed through anything. I thought about it and I spend the same money at a salon type experience when I could be having a spa like experience. I was so excited about the whole day I could not wait to tell my friend that I normally go with to do my standard upkeep about it. Pros: Great Staff and Wide Range of Services more

Best Spa in River Oaks 5/3/2010

I am new to Spa Finder and I wrote this for City Search, but it bares repeating... I went there for the first time with my company for a corporate party. The spa actually closed the spa for us and we had the place to ourselves, which was great. The covered parking in the garage was a cool touch since it was raining quite a bit. My company treats us every year to a spa experience and this was the first year we used this spa. It was amazing. The staff were efficient, curious, professional, and superb at their craft. We all lounged in the relaxation areas and I took advantage of the steam room, others loved the dry sauna. There were over 20 of us, but it was the most relaxing day I have had in some time. My massage therapist was incredible; he worked out all of my stress in my shoulders. The esthetician gave me great advice on my skin and my facial made me look years younger. I know others in my group got manicures and pedicures and they love them. I am so glad my company chose them this year and I will not wait for next year to come back. Pros: Friendly Staff, Easy Parking, Relaxing more

Great Experience 3/26/2010

So the girls and I decided to have a spa day- short notice of course! But despite this the staff worked with us to fit us all in together and around our schedule...I was truely amazed! When we first walked in we knew what to expect- the ambiance and demeanor of the place screamed "you will never want to leave!" We each had a spa package that included a facial and hot stone massage- the woman who did our facials was superb! She talked to us about what was good/bad/could improve and what to do- you could tell she genuinely loved her job and wanted to help us! I had never had a hot stone massage before and I have to admit was a bit of a skeptic....I'm the type of massage getter who wants you to essentially crush my muscles with all your might...so I wasn't sure is the stones would do the trick. I was wrong. It was great! If you have never had one before I strongly recommend it! One of my gfs was preggo and they treated her like royalty!....they have special treatments for you moms to be and according to her they are tops! I def recommend Bergamos at River Oaks for your next girls day- or just an excuse to feel amazing! Pros: great staff, well priced more

Very suprised! Great Day! 2/5/2010

I received a giftcard for Xmas from one of my best friends. I was a little nervous about when I would be able to use it - I live in the Kingwood area; however, I decided - make a day of it. Treat myself to a day closer to the city and just relax. I go to many spas so I was excited to try out one in the middle of River Oaks. It held up to its prestigious location. Its a beautiful spa (I used the glass elevator to go upstairs after my lunch at Taco Milagro) and was welcomed by the staff. I was surprised at how many great products they have! Anyway, my day started... massage, body treatment, facial, and nails. Each professional continued the feel of "My day" All I can say is that I truly enjoyed myself and would recommend to all those out there that are just as picky as I am. I became a huge fan because this spa feels like a SPA not a "push me through and take my money" assembly line. I will be a Bergamos client going forward for sure! Cant wait for my next Day. Pros: I loved that I felt my entire visit was about ME more

Big disappointment! 1/29/2010

I try to get a massage at least 2-3 times a year and I love trying new places to find the best massage I can get (especially if they come recommended by City Search, Yelp, etc.). This is NOT it. I made an appointment to get the swedish massage with reflexology - I should have saved my money and just let my husband rub my feet for 10 minutes. The technician was clearly not interested in being there, several times during the massage using one hand and she never applied pressure to help the areas I told her needed working. Long story short, I paid a lot of money to have someone apply lotion. This is NOT the place to go for massage - I will never return. Pros: Ample parking Cons: Worst massage ever! more

My Bridal Party/Spa day was great! 11/24/2009

I wanted to show my bridal party my gratitute so I called to find out if they could accomodate me. Not only could they, but once they told me about the hot and cool pools and steam room that we can all use, I was sold. Not only could they work with my party of 9, but the offered to bring us lunch while we are waiting for our various services. I am so excited that we all get to share the experience together and get some relaxation in right before my big day! Pros: Variety of services, beautiful venue and gracious staff.
