Excellent food by a talented chef 7/20/2009

We had held a graduation party at Chef Kiran's Suchi restaurant. The food was very delicious, everyone enjoyed it. Those who tried Indian cuisine for the first time were very pleasently surprised with an all vegeterian menu. The menu was mostly north Indian but it also had a special dish from the western state of Maharashtra. I highly recommend it. more

This Place is the best 5/7/2009

Suchi is the best indian food i have ever had. the chef Will come out to your tabel to make sure you are happy. \r You dont see this kind of service anymore.\r He cares about you. They will be open all day and night on sunday with there buffett for mothers day. You can bet i will be there. the food is healthy too.\r I have lost weight eating there. you cant beat that.\r give this place a try you wont be disapointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r Pros: food is great #1 Cons: I go 2 times a week and have never had a bad meal more

Very vegan friendly 5/6/2009

As a vegan, this place has become one of my favorite places to eat. Not only do they have plenty of dishes containing meat and cheese, they also have several dishes that are vegan friendly.\r \r Some wonderfully cultural paintings decorate the walls while ethnic music helps to provide a unique and pleasant atmosphere. The staff are exceptionally friendly, with the service and food both being consistent in their excellence.\r \r My only drawback is that they do not serve a dinner buffet on Sunday, but the overall quality of the dining experience more than makes up for that. Vegetarians and vegans especially should place this restaurant high on their list of great places to eat. Pros: Great price for variety and quality of food Cons: No dinner buffet on Sunday more

Unpretentious, very good food for the money. 4/11/2009

An indian guy i see in the gym sometimes recommended this place to me. I like to try all exotic foods so this was a good opportunity to try something new. The location and decor is really nothing to write home about. Probably only 2 stars at most, but the food makes up for this! Buffet lunch during the week for only $6.99 (cash price) or $13 on Saturdays is really pretty good, and I have a fine pallet. All foods are very tasty and nicely spiced, but not too hot. The chef often comes out of the kitchen to ask how you like this or that an sometimes brings stuff to your table to try! Have not have this happen to me since a visit to Greece back in the 70's. Try the goat stew and mango mousse on Saturdays. But the chef said he tries to vary what he serves a lot so who knows what you might find when you go there. Pros: Tasty, inexpensive Cons: Decor and location not great more

The best 4/6/2009

A friend told me about the wonderful new management and cooks. I went last week and again on Sunday. The variety of dishes is amazing. Every dish is unique with distinctive flavors. I can tast the different spices and vegetables. The food is authentic and not dummed down for the American palate. Will definatly go there again. Reminds me of the 5 star Indian restaurant in Las Vegas- also in a non-descript strip mall. Both are hidden gems. Pros: Wonderful food, friendly and attentive staff more

Don't let the outside fool you! 1/13/2009

As humble and nondescript as the exterior is (it's in one of Cary's oldest strips on East Chatham) nothing except word -of-mouth would make you visit. We went because someone told us about it and we read a glowing review by Greg Cox. We ate there last night. We were the only diners at 6 p.m., but business picked up by 7 p.m. when we finished. \r Service: The waiter was attentive, but a bit slow. Our food arrived hot and in a timely manner.\r Atmosphere: Plain, well-lit, Indian music videos playing on two big flat screen TVs, ""candles"" on the table. Nice.\r Menu: Some of your favorite dishes from Northern, Western and Southern India including vegetarian. Their specialty however is from Hyderabad. I have never seen Moglai dishes on an Indian menu in the Triangle until here. It is a menu sure to please.\r Food: Outstanding. We ordered everything at ""medium"" heat, but could have gone one level spicier. Butter chicken swam in a sea of fragrant sauce with plenty to go around. The baingan bharta tasted as fresh and delicious as it could, eggplant bursting with savory juice, nuts sprinkled about and I think lentels too.\r All resting on soft delicious basmati rice. Garlic naan had to be the best I've ever tasted.\r Our waiter urged us to come back on Friday or Saturday night for the buffet.\r We will go back in a heartbeat. Pros: Authentic Indian food more

worst service and food 11/22/2008

I ordered for some food from Suchi Indian Cuisine few days back.....I had heard from my friends that Suchi provides you with good Indian food.....and did I go there with the same expectations....I was told on the phone that the food would be ready in 30 minutes...well I reached there in about half hour....and guess what....... I was told it would take another 20 minutes.....and finally the food came 30 minutes later.....anyways we went home with our expectations that food would be great and it would compensate for the delay.......just surprised that they had missed one dish......that we had paid for......and what more...the nans were not cooked well...you could visibly see the dough raw......\r This was not what we expected.......We are never going to Suchi Indian Cuisine again.....and would suggest the same.. more

AVOID this restaurant if at all possible: Medioc 8/21/2008

This past Sunday (Aug 17, 2008), my wife and I along with our 3-yr old son and a 2-month infant went to the Suchi restaurant. As we got to the restaurant, we had noticed the ""Under New Management"" sign. We knew the person who had previously owned the restaurant (we happened to like the old owner due to his willingness to make sure that each and every customer got the special attention during the visit). I thought that since the restaurant has a new owner, the food and the service should be excellent as is the case with any new business that's trying to establish itself. We proceeded to check out the buffet. We were a bit disappointment from the ""presentation"" standpoint. Some of the buffet items were almost empty and other items looked ""un-appetizing"". We decided not to go by looks since we've always had GREAT prior experience at Suchi. My wife grabbed a plate and I grabbed two (2nd plate for the 3-yr old). Regular nans were brought to our table. I asked if we could get garlic nan. *** I was told that Garlic Nan was NOT part of the buffet and that there would be extra charge for it, if we still wanted it. In the past (w/ previous owner), we always got the garlic nan (esp. when we asked). Next, they had only brought ONE nan for us (2 adults + 1 kid). I asked for another Nan. Ten minutes later I had to ask again for the Nan. Finally, we got our second nan. The delivery of the Nan was as if we had asked for something we shouldn't have. ** The food, in my opinion was SO-SO at best. However, my wife thought that the food was NOT Fresh. She actually thought that the food might have been left-over from the previous night **. Finally, when I got the check, I noticed that they had charged $6.99 for the buffet for our 3-yr old. I inquired about the buffet and I was told that their policy is to charge 1/2 price for buffet for kids/infants from the age of 1 (ONE) to 5 (FIVE). I was shocked to hear that. Food:TWO STAR | Service:ONE STAR | Overall: ONE STAR more

Best of the best 7/20/2008

I was there in Suchi (famous Indian Restaurant) in June first week.I was very happy with the food and service. Actually I got a pass from one Nepali guy who studies in Louisiana University. As being his professor, he told me to go Suchi if I want a best indian food in USA. So I was on my way, and I am very pleased with service and food, especially Chef who is owner also, was very good. I have heard about him from my student. Anyway, i recommend all the indian food lovers to go there, if they want best of the best............\r more

Great Indian Food!! 6/27/2008

My husband and I went for lunch as he had heard from an Indian co-worker that it was the best Indian food in the Triangle. The buffet was wonderful with a good variety and very fresh food. The service was excellent. The older guy whom I assume is owner or manager, did kind of hover but was very polite. They brought piping hot bread to our table straight from the oven which was a nice touch. The restaurant itself is very clean and decently decorated. If you like Indian food, I would definitely recommend this place. Pros: Great food, nice restaurant, good service Cons: None that I could see more

Avoid it. Save your money 6/24/2008

The food was below average but what really putt us off was the horrible service we received. The wait staff was good but one particular person ( an older guy) seemed to be very rude. We don't think he is interested in attracting new customers. There are several other Indian restaurants in the triangle and we wont be visiting this restaurant again unless there is some improvement. I also believe some of the positive reviews have been written by the owner/manager himself. more

SOOOO GOOD 6/21/2008

Me and my husband ate there today for the first time. Everyone there was very nice and the chef came out and personally wanted to know how everything was. It was so good! I am a vegetarian and my husband is a die hard meater and the lunch buffet had a good variety of both vegetarian and meat dishes. If you love indian food then you will love this place it is comparable w/ the other indian restaurants as far as price. goes. We will be going back and the chef stated that they will be changing their menu up which is a good thing since you can get tired of the same menu even when it is dynamite like this one. :) Pros: Good service and excellent food Cons: Can't think of any more

BEST RESTAURANT IN CARY 5/28/2008

With the original management coming back to Suchi, the old magic of Suchi has returned,\r Very Tasty Indian Veg & Non-Veg food\r This place Suchi Indian Cuisine is very clean, spacious & beautiful. The food is very tasty.\r I went there with my friends last weekend.\r I believe that it is the best restaurant in Cary.\r Suchi is an ideal place also for parties.\r Pros: TASTE, SERVICE, CLEAN, HYGENIC more

Horrible Food..... with great customer service 5/4/2008

The food in Suchi was horrible....It looked like they had cooked the food for lunch buffet and continued the same by heating them again for dinner buffet...Though the costomer service was great, this alone will not satisfy a customer....the quality of the food is equally important...It was not tasty as well as fresh....\r \r I hope the management people take this review positively, so that they can improve the quality of food. One thing must say is that the Gulab Jamun was good. more

The Taste is back with original management 5/3/2008

For six months Suchi was in trouble with bad management and non existing service. This week it changed hands and Venu is back with chef Kiran and we had a great experience last night. I gave only 4 stars because they are still trying get more help in the front. I hope to go there and see the original excitement I had an year ago. Pros: the taste is back Cons: no fruits more

BEST OF THE BEST FOR 2008 5/1/2008

UPDATE!!!\r As of today KIRAN the chief, the one written up in Cary Magazine has purchased SUCHI and starting under new ownership tonight will be cooking again here in Cary. And as a bonus I have found out that VENUE the original owner has come back to help out as well! \r Be prepared to eat out at the best Indian restaurant the triangle will have to offer now. This is want I wished to see happen all along this is the dream team of Indian restaurant cooking coming back to Cary. With the two of them working side by side I am very confidant that SUCHI will go way above my wildest expectations and become the only place I go to eat Indian food again.\r I strongly believe after talking to them today about the future of SUCHI that we are out to see the best of the best in Cary Magazine next year. I change my rating to 5 stars and will see you there again. Thank God this has happen I couldn?t be happier about a restaurant changing hands for the better. If you have never eaten at SUCHI before you are in for a culinary experience now with these two master chiefs together in one place. more

Very disappointed... 4/22/2008

Suchi was one of our favorite haunts ever since it opened 5 or 6 years ago! We used to go there ALL the time and take family, friends and clients. Venue, who was the host then, was one of the best restaurateurs ever! He was always on top of things ? making sure the food was good and served on time, and that the buffet was warm and replenished regularly! He circled the tables and talked to everyone, made certain that everyone was happy and enjoyed the food! He made a lot of good friends and we miss him!\r \r As for the food, this was one of The Best Indian restaurants in the Triangle area. When my grandma was alive, I used to bring her here; she didn?t like eating out but she loved the food at Suchi, and that?s really saying something because she herself was an amazing cook! The value was also great because two people could have a great dinner (with drinks) for about $25 to $30! The buffet was wonderful and when the wait staff made fresh naans or dosas, they always asked if you wanted some and were kind enough to bring piping hot dosas and naans to our table! I remember meeting students from NCSU who would come and eat Indian style with their fingers, and even lick their fingers afterwards with relish because the food was so good and the whole experience was so much fun!\r \r Unfortunately that's not the case anymore. The last time we went to Suchi was on Valentine?s Day this year. We were not sure if we wanted to eat there and were just peeking in when they told us there was a special for two people for $20 without alcoholic drinks? So we decided to try the buffet, which was much smaller and nothing like the spread that used to be there before. However, when we went to pay the bill, we were shocked because it was $20 per person ? so it was $40 for both of us! We were really annoyed at being tricked like that! Now if the buffet was halfway decent, we wouldn?t have cared, but it was not that great, and I agree with some of the reviews on here about the food. Cons: food, service more

worse than I could imagine! 4/19/2008

We are not at all happy with our experience at Suchi and would not recommend it under any circumstances. The wait staff was polite but our group was two couples and the staff never did take the other couple's drink order. \r \r The food looked as if it had been on the buffet all day long. Some dishes were sitting over heat canisters that were burned out. The wait staff was moving the ones that were still lit around to keep food semi warm. We would not have stayed to eat if the guys had not already started to fill plates..tentatively. One dish out of the many that we tasted was okay..the others were either tasteless or tasted like old meat. \r \r The tables were not cleaned well and the walls looked as if they'd never been clean. It made me scared to look at the benches or floors. At this point we'd given up on dinner and asked for our bill. Extremely overpriced! We left hungry and angry. We will not be going back. Pros: none at all Cons: price, quality, sanitation more

Will never eat at that place again 4/19/2008

We ordered hydrebadi (claimed by suchi) nothing hydrebadi about it . The rice used was plain rice not even basmati rice . We were asked to wait for 45 min and wait was worthless , finally found the same dish was in the buffet too.\r \r try it at your own risk. more

KIRAN the chief has left SUCHI 3/23/2008

I have been eating at SUCHI for over 2 years now and under the old ownership it was outstanding at first and then with changes in the kitchen in wasn?t the same but I kept the faith and kept coming. \r \r Then new ownership came in and the new chief KIRAN made his version of Northern India food and again it was back to one of the best that Cary had to offer!\r \r But I am sorry to inform everybody that this is no longer true. KIRAN the chief that was written up in Cary magazine for his wonderful cooking has left SUCHI and has moved away. \r \r His cooking will be missed and we can only hope that this great restaurant will once again return back to one of the great Indian restaurants in triangle. Until then look for someplace else. \r more
