Best

Had some of the best pasta I've had in years. Better than anything I ever ate in Rome. I ate here a couple of days ago and the place seemed very clean, so not sure about the last ...

Worst

The food was ok. They had a guy outside that convinced my wife we should eat there. Everything was going ok until it was time to pay. We waited quite a while and finally I flag...

Womanizing Waiters! 8/19/2002

Awesome atmosphere! My friends and I were invited to dance with the waiters and they came around singing throughout the evening. Our food arrived rather quickly and both the cuisine and service were excellent. The super friendly staff and unforgettable kisses at the door makes this restaurant hard to forget. Pros: aura, cuisine, atmosphere more

The best Italian place... ever! 8/19/2002

I loved this restaraunt soooo much! The whole experience was simply amazing and the waitors were so awesome (and great dancers!) Everyone should check this out more

my favroite resturant in san francisco 8/11/2002

i loved this place! by far, my favroite resturant in the bay area. the food was great, the staff was very friendly. its a very romantic place. sit outside, have a good meal and a cup of coffee and just enjoy the great view of the city from there. Pros: great food, friendly, great location Cons: only open till 1am more

Worlds best Tiramisu! 8/11/2002

Ambience: Always felt like being back in Europe! Real Italian flair, even - or because - the waiters really do not sing very well ;o)) more

best food and people 8/10/2002

a lot of fun and very good food and service Pros: SERVICE, food, fun Cons: small tables more

Very dissapointing!!! 8/2/2002

I can't believe this place. This restaurant is too noisy. You can't have any conversation without shouting to your partner. Waiters are really rude and they're more busy studying young girls than serving their own food. My friend and I were there on Friday, and we waited for the food for one hour after seating. If this is the truely Italian food restaurant, nobody want to go to Rome. This is the only place you can go for a shot of espresso. It is not nice to serve a used folk or spoon (whatever) the waiter used to slam the table and lump to the same beat as loud music. I felt like I was eating out at Hardrock. (maybe this place is worse than that.) Pros: Cheap food Cons: Rude service, Loud music, Can't relax more

Fantastic food, energy and prices 8/2/2002

Whether stopping in for a fresh panini at lunch time, or going all out with chianti and music on a busy Friday night, Steps of Rome is the ideal place to go for a lively date, or with friends. The bruschetta is a must, and the vodka sauce is to die for. Steps of Rome is alive with the spirit of North Beach, and is a treat for out of town friends. Pros: location, lively atmosphere, prices more

Just like Italy 6/10/2002

Steps of Rome was a great choice for a small group of people. We had 5 in our group and the setting was just perfect. The small restaurant makes for great service- only so many people to give their attention to. The music was fun and the food was good. Prices are competitive, after drinks and dessert dinner wasn't that inexpensive....but well worth it! more

It's a taste of true Italy 5/28/2002

If you've never been to Rome than going to The Steps of Rome is the closest thing you'll get to that European experience. I've been going to Steps for years now and it truly is an Italian experience. The food is just like it's served in Italy- the pasta is al dente, the dishes are simple, and the wine is abundant. The Tiramisu is amazingly creamy and not too heavy on the liquor. It's heaven. As I said before, Steps is just like being in Rome - it's loud, it's cramped,it's loads of fun, and the food is wonderful! Pros: Great Food, Inexpensive, Amazing Deserts Cons: Loud, Crowded more
