Stanley's Kitchen & Tap

One of my favorite places for brunch. It gets crowded and there's usually a hefty wait (hour or more), but the food is spectacular and the atmosphere is full of fun and excitement. The brunch buffet offers: omelets, waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausages, bacon, sandwich fixings, cereal, pastries, fruit and more. Make your own Bloody Mary for a complete meal! The servers are often harried, trying to clear plates and refill coffees, but are responsive to your request. more

If you do have plans then break them. Nobody should go another weekend without making it to Stanley's Sunday brunch. It has everything from eggs to chicken to watermelon to noodle salad to etc. All of the food is great and the servers are happy to be around. You might run into a wait when you get there, but hold out. It is worth standing in the cold for a few minutes. more

This place serves down-home American comfort food in a bar/1950's setting. they've got the formica topped tables and all the features of a 50's kitchen all in the back of a pretty large bar. Go on a Sunday morning for their very reasonably priced brunch. It's all you can eat, with plenty of options to stuff yourself with. The mac and cheese, fried chicken, au gratin potatoes and fresh fruit waffles are the best. The fried chicken is probably my favorite fried chicken. For dinner I suggest the meat loaf.The staff is kind and efficient, which makes it not so bad to wait for a table. You will wait for a table for Sunday brunch unless you get there before the doors open more

Stanley's Fruit Market offers Chicago's best priced produce, and always has a wide selection. You can find a variety of veggies herbs and spices at far lower costs than any other market in the area. I've found great tasting fresh fruits and vegetables and filled an entire cart for under 20 bucks. I usually spend about 15 dollars a week in this store and am able to get enough produce for the week. Their organic products are usually of far better quality than the non organics.It is not uncommon to find green peppers at 59-79 cents a pound. But there are times when you'll need to pick through tons of half rotten items before finding a gem. There has never been a time when I've shopped here that absolutely everything looked great. Stanley's market just recently remodeled and expanded their store to double it's size. They have the potential to be great, if they would just keep up with getting rid of the ugly and the moldy. They often display moldy avocados and tomatoes, which makes the store look shabby. I give them a great rating because I have purchased my produce from them for years and you cannot beat their prices. more

Stanley's manages to balance the restaurant and bar aspects very well. They have a decent menu, as well as great buffets on Monday night as well as weekend afternoons (brunch). Stanley's is almost always busy and crowded. With the possible exception of lunchtime, it's usually difficult to get a table to eat, or find a place to stand and drink. But it definitely warrants a visit! Sunday night live band karaoke is a riot! Also, it's not uncommon to have celebrity sightings at Stanley's! more

Stanley's front room is a bar with several booths, tall tables with old chrome and leather bar stools, satellite- and cable-fed TVs and a jukebox. The adjacent dining room is an abrupt leap into the family den, decorated with photos, quilts, bowling trophies and children's drawings. This is a popular family restaurant, with a special kids' menu. On Saturday and Sunday there's an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet for $10.95. more
