Best

We attended a program at Meany Theatre and found that a two block walk got us to Schulzy's Sausage. Our party tried the Schultzy's Sausage burger--declared delish, the Kosher Saus...

Worst

Its ok. The atmosphere is unique, very Bavarian. The service was quick and friendly. The food... ehh. I got the veggie burger, def not the "best veggie burgers in town". Both...

No biggie to serve uncooked sausage 3/28/2011

Appalling that of ALL places, a sausage restaurant would serve their fare uncooked. And then stir in one aloof server who doesn't seem to be at all concerned when I send the plate back...and reappears unapologetically in a couple minutes with a burnt-on-the outside, plate...not even not garnished but just sausage and fries. Then the bill comes...with no adjustment. No apology along the way, not even a hint of concern or regret. Sorry folks, killer fries will never make up for crappy service and uncooked sausage. more

Euro beer & warm, well maintained atmosphere. 10/23/2009

It's all subjective. My perspective is I am a 33yr old grad student at UW, single, white, hetro, male from the NE, moved to NW 2 yrs ago. Shultzy's is conveniently located and has good Euro style beer (micro brew), not a brewery. They have large boots of beer for social group drinking. Atmosphere is calm/warm with wood paneling and a fire place in front and picnic area in back for the summer. The owners put in effort into maintaining it well (not always the case on ""the Ave""). The food menu is diverse leaning towards German/American style, but is slightly expensive for the area. ($18-$22 for lunch and a beer, including tip; dinner is a little more) Come sit at a table with a bunch of friends and it's a great place to be. Pros: Beer, atmosphere, location. Cons: Price, food more

Great Beer Selection 6/23/2007

I had two bratwursts and fries at the bar. The fries were delicious and addictive. The bratwursts were smaller than I would have preferred. One wasn't enough to fill me up. The beer was awesome. I had the Baron German Lager, a locally produced beer, in a Liter stein. I could have had two liters in Das Boot if I wanted. The bartender and staff were friendly. If they made the brats larger, or had a larger selection of different link sausages, I'd have given it 5 stars...there's still some room for improvement, but if you like sausage and beer in a fun atmosphere, this is a fantastic place to go. more

Nothing cheap but fries are pretty good 9/13/2006

There is nothing cheap about this place. Ten dollars for a sausage is not cheap nor were they very good. Okay at best. The fries are the shoestring variety and are pretty tasty. But when you get up and leave, after tax and tip and a drink to go along with your lunch, you just spent ten or in my case $12+ for a hot dog lunch. Sorry but I won't be coming back. Pros: Fries Cons: Pricey, not a good value at all more

Come for the beer, stay for the sausage 9/1/2006

It all comes down to the liter steins of bier. The place is the quintessential college pub (in all its positive connotations). Great place to go at the end of the day and drink alot and indulge in greasy, delicious German-style food. more

best fries in the world 8/14/2004

The fries are, in my opinion, the best ever. Long, thin, crisp, flavorful. Yes, salty, but hey, they're fries. The burgers and so on are a little messy to eat, but even more satisfying because of it. Friendly, clean, publike atmosphere with good beer, served in German-style glasses, which are fun. Pros: tasty as heck, good beer more

Utterly Fantastic!!! 2/28/2003

Having never been to Shultzy's before, I was pleasantly surprised by the fabulously tasty hot dawgs they offered. The value is shocking: w/out fries (which are quite salty), you can get out of there for less than $5. With the fries, plan on $10. It's a fun place to go... in fact, I've eaten there more than once in a single day! They have many dawgs to choose from. Pros: Value!!!, Great Food, Atmosphere/Service Cons: Fries too salty more
