I would allow myself to support this place, even with their inflated prices on pizza, if they servied dessert pie too. Pros: pizza Cons: no dessert pie

Not what I was expecting... 8/5/2007

I went yesterday for dinner and was delighted and disappointed at the same time. I was very impressed with the service considering how busy it was there. We got there and there was a long wait, gave our cell number so that we could walk to pacific place mall. We got a call early saying that a table opened up, we headed back and were seated immediately. Our waiter Chris was friendly and easy going. Very casual atmosphere. I do need to state, there is communal seating. I dont mind but it may be uncomfortable for others. Youre seated on high tables and seats are rather close to each other. Pizza always takes a long time to make so i expected a long wait for my pizza, but suprising it didnt take that long for us. But it did seem to take long for other people. Lots of people wondering where their pizza was... I had the roasted chanterelles and my boyfriend had the cherry bomb and fennel sausage. Surprisingly, it was just average. I guess i was expecting something more from an iron chef winner :) Not really that gourmet. Mine was very rich and cheesy, my boyfriends didnt have much cheese at all. He seemed to like his pizza though. i did hear (since you sit right next people) that they werent to happy with the mozzarella, but the lady next to me really liked the chanterelle pizza. Another couple recommended to us the morel pizza. As we were leaving, the staff thanked us for coming and were extremely pleasant. Kudos to Tom Douglas for hiring top notch staff. As for his pizza, I am hoping that he comes up with some better creations and maybe incorporating whole roasted garlic a fave topping for many. Pros: Service, Fun atmosphere Cons: Parking, tight seating more

Greasy & Unimpressive 5/10/2007

I came into this restuarant with, admittedly, high expectations. The space is small and dark, even during the day. I had the Penn Cove Clam Pizza...my love, had the pizza topped with Wild Mushrooms...both were dissapointing. They were greasy, heavy and overall less than fantastic. The ingredients sounded tasty and interesting on the menu...in reality they were bland and drowned in the oils that sat puddled upon the gummy crust. I reviewed this restaurant for my restaurant review page (Cheriepicked) and had a hard time addressing anything positive about it. If you want good pizza in this city...I tell my friends to try ""Tutta Bella"". more

Thanks, Tom, for the Serious Pie 5/1/2007

This place is wonderful. It's cozy and friendly. So, if you aren't cozy and friendly, stay the heck out of it. The communal tables let you meet your neighbors and have a great time. If you are friendly, go there. If you are not, stay away so I don't have to sit by you. Oh yeah...the pizza is totally great. It's not exactly what you'd expect, but if you wanted plain pizza, just go to pizza hut. Here, you get great pizza, different ideas, cozy environment, and an overall good time. Pros: Neighborhood feel, interesting pizzas Cons: it's small, but that really isn't a con..it lends to the neatness factor of this place more

The pizza dough needs more salt 4/7/2007

I am a big fan of TD but this Serious Pie pizza was good but not great. The dough that is so good at his bakery is not that good on the pizza. It has no flavor and needs more salt. My wife and I went to the restaurant and enjoyed our ""pizzas"" (more like flat bread sandwiches) but were left thinking that it could have been better especially at the prices charged. We will go back, but they need to add more taste to the crust. more

Great pizza, had us trying to figure out if we could build a brick oven in the back yard. Had mushroom and truffle cheese pizza, rhubarb with meyer lemon for dessert. Great service. Only - wish I could have had a Coke. Izzy doesn't cut it with pizza. Dinner time, I'd have wine, but lunch... more

Seriously Good 3/9/2007

Tom Douglas, my hero. If you have been to any one of his restaurants, you won't be surprised by the amazing place that Serious Pie is. Good pizza, good people, good ambiance. The price wasn't bad, the pizza was fabulous. I will go back again and again. more

Darn you Tom...you got me again. 2/9/2007

Tom Douglas is like that frustrating boyfriend who you KNOW is bad for you, but you just can't stay away from. Like his other places (I'm a fan) Serious Pie will not give you exactly what you expect, but an open mind and an adventurous palette will be greatly rewarded. You can't get pizza by the slice. You can't get pizza with any traditional toppings that you might be used to. There are only a few selections, and they only come in one size. But MAN OH MAN are they good!!! I have now tried every pizza on the menu more than once (no, I'm not over 300 pounds--yet) and I promise you that even the ones with ingredients you've never heard of in combinations not found in nature are absolutely delicious. (The ""green eggs and ham"" is my favorite though.) The service has been consistently great. The non-pizza items on the menu did nothing for me. Everything is just a wee bit overpriced, but oh baby is the pizza worth it. Darn you Tom. Darn you, I say. Pros: Amazing pizza, great service, funky atmosphere Cons: Non-pizza items are just okay, limited selection, prices are a l-i-t-t-l-e high. more

A welcome addition to the local pizza scene. 2/6/2007

I'll admit that I'm an East Coaster who always complains about the lack of decent pizza in Seattle and even after two visits to this place I am still complaining...but I love Serious Pie! It's more of an artisan flatbread than a pizza but it's still fantastic. The crust is thin and the toppings are inventive but not scary. The traditional tomato and basil pie is great but the specials are really outstanding. I would never consider some of the toppings to be acceptable pizza toppings but Tom Douglas makes them work together and they are delicious. The house Chianti is great, too. On my first visit, everything was perfect. On the second, they were out of the house Chianti, the salad was way too salty and the waitress terrible - boring and unapologetic, not to mention uninformed about the menu. The pizza was so good that I will give it another try, though. Pros: Great pie Cons: Inconsistent service, crowded, loud more
