The positive: I have not lived in Houston for many years. It was close to the holidays and I was running out of time before I was leaving to visit family in Houston but badly needed a haircut. My friend suggested I wait until I was in Houston and get it cut at her salon. My friend's stylist wasn't available so I set up an appointment with Vikki. Vikki was everything I had been looking for in a stylist! She is a professional- both in her styling abilities, manor, and customer service. My experiences with Vikki were so great that for over 4 years I would drive 3 hours to have my hair cut by her. She also did a wonderful job twice doing a rinse on my hair. I also had Elizabeth do my make-up trail and wedding day make-up. Elizabeth was great at listening to my comments about the trial make-up and altering things to give me a flawless, radiant yet natural look!
So you may be wondering why I gave them such a low rating. Well here is why:
The negative: It has to do with the management and the lack of customer service I received on my wedding day. I am not one of those brides that think everyone should bow down and wait on her on the day of her wedding. Actually, I am often a little too soft spoken which is perhaps why I was ignored by the management. I took a seat in the waiting area after my make-up appointment. Twenty minutes into my scheduled updo appointment time, I went to the front desk and explained that I was anxious about the time. Instead of being concerned, the manager curtly asked what time was my wedding and responded that ""the stylist would have plenty of time; she didn't need all the time that was scheduled"". I responded the extra time was scheduled based on how long it took her to do my hair at my trial. He dismissed my comment and five minutes later ushered another woman into the stylist's seat. As I continued to wait, a ten year old girl sat next to me crying hysterically for over 20 minutes about her hair style and saw her mother delay the stylist while she tried to pacify the girl. The girl continued to cry and loudly complain to the other females in her party until the manager got another stylist to redo the little girl's hair. An hour after my scheduled appointment time, I sat down in the stylist's chair. While she was doing my hair, I listened to her complain about not having lunch because no one but the bride in the other party had an appointment, and she had to squeeze in two more people after me. The stylist rushed on my hair and instead of the large ringlets that held for 6 hours on the day of my trial, she gave me a head full of uncontrolled curls that fell out within 2 hours on my wedding day. She didn't even bother to ask if I was satisfied. I paid and left the salon. I will not be returning.
I refuse to go to a place who services first time, loud & rude customers who don't have appointments while ignoring a customer who has an appointment, is timely, and politely brings problems to their attention. So if you are a diva, you'll get great service; otherwise be prepared to get walked all over by one as the manager caters to him/her and ignores you.
Pros: Vikki, she was the best stylist I ever had
Cons: Bad management
