Honestly, when I was booking an appointment with Samuel Cole Salon I was scared that I would not get my money's worth just because that happens frequently when you visit salons for the first time. But, I'm so glad that city search allowed me to hear about Samuel Cole Salon. I didn't know where to go since I'm not from Raleigh, but the salon had an incredible high rating. I have no regrets at all afterwards! Pros: Amazing designers and customer service...Value is Exceptional! more

Great Experience 3/8/2007

Great Salon. I had a wonderful experience at Samuel Cole for my first visit. The service is excellent and I really liked my stylist. She listened to my concerns and what I wanted done with my hair and she did exactly what I wanted. Excellent customer service. They even do follow up and ensure your experience was great. For the service and atomosphere and experience, the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this salon and look forward to my next visit. Excellence in customer service and results! 3/3/2007

I recently placed a call to this salon after honestly looking for high recommendations regarding a salon on city search. I pursued contact after reading all of the comments and recommendations from pleased clients who had visited the salon. I spoke with Joelle initially and was so pleased as she truly listened to my request and confirmed back to me that she had heard my plea of an essential makeover secondary to ""bad coloring"" at another salon along with somewhat dry, frazzled hair. Just a visit to the salon is a treat in itself! It is beautiful, comfortable and inviting all at the same time. The results- The very best color, cut and overall service I have ever encountered from anyone, anywhere period!! Britt is amazing!. She genuinely listened to my issues and then proceeded to amaze me in the cut, color she provided. She provides tips on products and styling so that when you leave you can hopefully achieve the same results. Lauren Is the Best!! 3/2/2007

I had never colored my hair in 45 years of life and finally the gray was getting to be too much for me. I finally gave in and let Lauren at Samuel Cole color my hair. I loved it. Lauren has been coloring my hair for quite a while now. It turns out beautifully every time. I constantly receive compliments on the color. Also, Lauren showed me how to bring out curl in my hair that I didn't even know I had. She is personable and professional. Pros: Lovely salon, Great staff (especially Lauren) more

Need Funky at Night and Sleek For the Day? See Erin! 3/1/2007

I've written reviews before though it has been a while. I travel nearly 85% of the time and have little time to research cities and build lasting relationships with stylists. Now that I am in Raleigh full time I am happy to say that I will no longer feel anxiety in seeing a new salon and stylist every time I need a trim. Pros: Last minute appointment? Don't know any of the stylists? No problem.. I would see ANY of the Samuel Cole stylists Cons: NONE, you get what you pay for... what's more important than how you feel about YOU more

First Time Client 2/23/2007

I had a first time appointment on 2/21/07 and Meghan was my stylist. She gave me a deep conditioning treatment, a cut and style. I found her to be very concerned about my hair and what I wanted. I received a great cut that gave me extra body and movement and I have another appointment with her in six weeks. Thanks Meghan. Terry more

Trendy but not pretentious 2/20/2007

I have had Lauren cut my hair twice now, and both times she has done a phenomenal job. The first time, she cut about 14 inches of my hair off, but I wasn't nervous at all. I love Samuel Cole Salon in Raleigh. The staff there are the best. I never feel as if I am rushed because they have overbooked. My daughter and I drive from Wilson once a month for haircuts. I have searched a long time to find a place where they will listen to what I want done with my hair. Ericka is my stylist and she is the best. She actually talked with me about my hair before rushing me into what she thought I should do. They are the best. Go and see for yourself. more

Great for Curls 2/14/2007

I loved my experience at this salon! Sara did an amazing job with my difficult fine curly hair. She understood what curls are like and how to deal with them because she has curly hair too. She gave me advice about what products to use and how to style.....Great result! I plan on making another appointment with her, and that says a lot since I haven't been to the same person more than once in over 9 years! more

Best haircut since NY 2/14/2007

I moved here over one year (and many haircuts) ago. Since moving, I have tried at least 2 other places and repeatedly returned to my salon in New York for them to fix what had been done. I think I finally found my hairdresser, Lauren, at Samuel Cole and will no longer need to travel to NY. She has finesse and style! She listened to what I wanted and even taught me how to style it in a new way. Such a great experience - I'm bringing my husband next time. Pros: Talent and warmth of the staff more

Greatest hair cut I ever had! 2/14/2007

The stylist who cut my hair was so personable and gave me exactly what I asked for....she took the time to listen to what I was looking for and offered tips about my particular hair type. The styling products that she recommended work wonderfully....I was extremely pleased and will certainly go back there for my next styling.....the atmosphere was also very nice and the complimetary glass of wine a very nice touch. Ruined My Hair 2/9/2007

I am new to the area and just trying to find someone that knows how to cut hair. I went to another salon before this but heard good things about Samuel Cole and Carly so I tried her. Carly was very nice and the salon was nice as well... but she used a razor to cut my hair and it is now ruined. I have not been able to fix it since she cut it and was in tears this morning over it. I wish I had never gone. Any good stylist knows that a razor should never be used on hair..... I should have ran!! more

I just went for my very first appointment (Feb. 2007) and I have to say that it was AWESOME! I was going in for all over color and highlights along with a cut so I was very nervous going in especially since I didn't really know anything about the place except for the ideas I got from reading their website and other city search reviews. I am the type of person that never really knows exactly what I want for color or style but Meghan nailed it! She listened to me and she asked me questions and at the end I got the BEST color and cut of my life! I am very pleased and impressed. THANK YOU MEGHAN! I definitely recommend her! Everyone is very nice and the atmosphere is so relaxing and comfortable. They make you feel welcomed and pampered from the minute you walk into the door till you walk back out the door. Just by looking around at other customers that were there at the same time I was I could tell they were also happy and very relaxed with their stylist. I really love the fact that I never felt any pressure to use a certain color or style my hair a certain way or pressured to buy lots of ?recommended? products. A really classy place! Thanks a lot! I have been seeing Lauren, a stylist at Samuel Cole Salon in North Raleigh, since this past summer and I have been so happy with my haircut after every visit! The salon has a really nice atmosphere(especially since it was recently remodeled) and everyone that works there is very friendly. Lauren did a great job cutting my fine and flat hair in a very flattering shape that gave me a lot more volume. She always listens and follows through with whatever I ask for, and I have never walked out of the salon disappointed in any way. Lauren also showed me what products I should use on my hair and exactly how to use them. And as an added bonus, she is very friendly and easy to talk to. Since I started visiting Samuel Cole Salon, I have been happier than ever with my hair! I highly reccommend this salon(especially Lauren!) to anyone who wants a great haircut and great service at a reasonable price. Pretty average 1/17/2007

Maybe I was spoiled by my former stylist, but I received a fairly average haircut from a level 2 stylist. Unfortunately, the stylist used a razor on my dry, fine hair, and cut the layers too short - it looked unbalanced for my facial structure, and just looked so frayed on the ends because of the razor. I traveled 3 hours to have my former stylist fix it. My hair has the consistency of cotton; my former hairstylist just couldn't imagine why one would use a razor. A good haircut means hair falls into place, fixing or no fixing - and this haircut required a lot of curlers and spray just to even it out. I didn't ask for a refund or a recut, though I'm sure they would have done something (the stylist was nice) but I didn't think it was a good match, and preferred to have someone I trust fix my hair. Pros: Nice stylist, good lighting, drinks offered Cons: High price, poor use of razor, not balanced cut, cheesy location more

Great experience 12/15/2006

Like many others, after reading the great reviews for Sara I called to make an appointment to have my hair colored and highlighted for the very first time. I was nervous when I arrived but felt much more relaxed once I met Sara. She was so friendly (which is a top priority for me) and she actually listened. The last time I went to a nice salon the guy spent more time looking at himself in the mirror than acknowledging me. I had dull brown hair and wanted a change but wasn't sure what would look good. I told her I was willing to go lighter or darker and while she was willing to do whatever I wanted, she also gave me her opinion (darker). So my hair got darker and blonde highlights. Unfortunately the highlights were just too blonde for me (my fault because I didn't specify that I was looking for something very subtle). I thought when I left that the highlights would grow on me, but when I got home I realized that I just wasn't happy with them. I emailed the salon that night and expressed my concern. The owner, Jack, called me first thing the next morning to schedule a time for me to come in again so they could be fixed. I saw Sara again one week later and she was geniunely happy that I had spoken up about my concerns. She was so sweet and I left with not only perfect hair (at no cost), but excited for my next visit. Jack even did a follow-up call to see how I was liking my hair. I am so happy with the service I received and I constantly recommend Sara to my friends. It was a great experience and now I feel comfortable that I will actually get what I want from a salon. Very good hair salon 12/10/2006

I recently had my hair cut high lighted (sp?). I was very pleased with the overall experience. The salon has a very modern feel to it. I loved the ""color bar."" I brought pictures of the hair style that I wanted and was very pleased with the end result. If you are new to the Durham/Raleigh area, or you are just looking for a new hair salon, I'd suggest the Samuel Cole Salon. It is a bit pricey for a graduate student, but well worth it. You must visit Andrea Love at Samuel Cole Salon. She has been styling my hair for two years now. She is very interested in what you have to say about your hair. Andrea is great working with people of all ages. You will find she is very courteous and polite at all times. I have very fine hair, not easy to work with. She has given me the best haircuts I have ever had. You will Love her. more

I have travelled all over the world and have had my hair done from to New Orleans, to West Palm Beach to Tokyo. Samuel Cole Salon is truly one of the best salons I have ever been to. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. Sarah is fantastic! I have fine, curly, unruly hair that I color. So often, hair stylists cut my hair too short or just don't give me the color I want. Sarah listens and produces a wonderful product. ( I went 9 weeks without getting a touch up because I was out of town and wasn't about to let anyone other than Sarah touch my hair). She truly understands color and hair and knows how to give the customer what they want and what will look great at the same time. When I go into a salon and see all the styllists looking great AND all the clients walking out looking like a million bucks I get a great feeling about the place. Sarah and the staff live up to all the accolades. Plus, the salon is classy and there is no pressure to buy products. I can't reccommend Sarah enough to work with curly hair. Anyone who has curly hair knows how hard it is to get someone who understands. Sarah understands. Make your appointment today. You won't regret it!
