JEN has helped me soo much!! 1/8/2010

After moving to Raleigh about a year ago, I have been struggling to find a stylist that met my expectations. A friend of mine at work suggested I go to Jen at Samuel Cole (by the way my friends hair always looked fabulous). I was very nervous, but Jen very quicly put me at ease.. She explained to me her credentials and really listened to my fears. I even brought in my computer to show her pics of what I liked and didnt like. She gave me her suggestions as to what she thought would look great with my face shape and skin tone. Jen did hilites, lowlites and a glaze. She also convinced me to take a couple inches of my prior overly processed hair.. This was without a doubt the best cut and color I have ever had!! This entire experience far exceeded my expectations.. To top it off, Jen gave me a great gift bag when I left. I will definite see Jen from now on and I would recommend her to everyone!! Yvette is the Color Queen! 12/18/2009

I have been going to Samuel Cole for almost a year now. I really love the Salon itself, all the workers are very helpful and nice. One time our house flooded and I needed to get in at 4PM instead of 6PM to take care of the problem and they got me right in. Also, if you are looking to have your hair colored, highlighted or anything at all Yvette is the lady to go to. I have very brown hair and I get it done very blonde and she never once has made it brassy or orange looking which is a major problem that I had ran into in the past. Also, in the past since the color is so light, my scalp has been itchy and hurt from the color, she knew to add sweet and low to the color and it doesn't bother it at all!!!! She definitely knows her stuff! And I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone! My husband loves how she has made my hair look and tells me whenever I get it done that he is really glad we found someone who can do such a great job of coloring it! She is also a really sweet person with a great personality. I would recommend Samuel Cole to anyone and especially Yvette for color!! Pros: Very clean space, always pleasant and helpful! more

Having spent the last 3 years searching for that person who would listen to me about my desires for an easy but funky hairstyle, I was thrilled to find Ellen Geenty. She has helped to define what it is that I desired and has cut my hair with care and skill. She is also an easy conversationalist and sensitive as well. Each time I leave the salon I feel renewed! I've switched salons a million times over the past few years, never able to find a salon or stylist that I felt confident in. I am proud to say that I have been a client at Samuel Cole for the past 2 and a half years. I've been going to Nichole and I can't get enough! I have never gotten more compliments on the cut or color of my hair in my entire life. I've gone from long to super short to in-between. Not just Nicole, but the entire staff knows exactly what their doing and isn't pushy at all. It's a bit of a hike from where I live, but totally worth it. If your need something new try NICHOLE! 12/11/2009

I was looking for something new and sassy. My hair had gotten really long and blah. I decided to try someone and someplace new. So I tried Samuel Cole and made an appointment with Nichole. We talked during our consultation and decided on something easy but stylish for the cut and some brighter blonder highlights for color. That is exactly what I got My cut couldn't be more perfect it is super flattering and easy to style and my highlights give my skin that extra glow I needed this time of year. I am ready for the Holidays! I would definitely recommend Nichole. Pros: great service Cons: price more

Warning for those with thin or oily hair! 12/4/2009

Went for a highlight and cut for the first time recently and walked away with a neat little bag of a spray on conditioner (Prep) and some coupons. The stylist didn't push to take more off the ends than necessary and the color looked pretty good, however after trying the Bumble & Bumble product and following their suggestion for conditioning my hair, this is the worst it has looked in years. I have thin hair and an oily scalp and if I use a hair band, it falls out because it is too slick. I had high hopes after my colleague had an amazing cute haircut, but this definitely is not a place for someone with special needs hair. I had even told the stylist that I used a special zinc pca shampoo, but perhaps she wasn't experienced enough to realize what that meant? She was very sweet and any other type of hair might have an awesome experience. Just wanted to warn you. Nichole made my hair beautiful 11/30/2009

I have never colored my hair before and was feeling very nervous. I have failry light hair color and was scared of doing something I would regret. I have been seeing Nichole the past year for my hair cuts and felt I was ready for some hilights. Nichole explained to me she could put lighter pieces in my hair that would look like the sun had naturally lightened it so I would not have to make a commitment to doing hilights every six weeks. It turned out so natural and pretty.... I have actually set my next appointment in six weeks for even more. I have gotten so many compliments. I would not trust my hair to anyone else. Best Haircut I've Every Had! 11/28/2009

I had a wonderful experience. I received a gift certificate for my birthday and Noel was my stylist. She started by offering me complementary beverage, listened to my needs and was very attentive to my hair cut. She made me feel comfortable about my decisions and gave me feedback about how to maintain my style. The complimentary parafin wax was fantastic. And as a first time customer I received free hair tonic! I couldn't have had a better experience, I will be returning! Pros: Great environment, welcoming staff, knowledgable stylists Cons: Kind of pricey but totally worth it more

I am so glad to have found this salon. I used to go to a different salon not far but they closed. I saw a posting from one of the stylist's from the other salon who's working at Samuel-Cole now and I'm so glad I followed her here. I have a reason to visit Raleigh more often now, it's definitely worth the drive. MJ's an expert at threading and my eyebrows have never looked so good! very disappointed 11/10/2009

I was really excited about trying the Samuel Cole Salon--especially because I found someone who specializes in curly hair. I have to say, the setting is nice and everyone was very friendly. And thats about it. I made an appointment for a cut and full foil highlights. The stylist did spend time discussing my options with me and answered all of my questions. I told her that in the past when I've had color on my hair it turns brassy and that she would need to use bleach. She assured me that what she was using is like bleach and would NOT become brassy. When I left the salon my hair was still somewhat wet so I did not see the outcome of the color until I got home. I loved the cut but was very upset when I saw that the color was completely uneven, blotchy in spots and no where near my scalp! The front was so bad that wearing my hair pulled back was not an option because there was one big blond streak in the middle of my head! I went by and actually spoke with the person who assisted. She was very defensive and said that the only reason the 1 inch gap between my scalp and where the color started was a problem was because of the way I wear my hair! Which is ridiculous because if the stylist did a decent job I'd be able to wear my hair any way I wanted. I scheduled a redo (which is a great policy) and the stylist was very nice and agreed that the color was not even. She added several more foils. However, once again I left with wet hair and when it dried I realized that she never even touched up the roots---at my part or the front! She totally missed the point. So now, a month after spending $200, several hours at this salon, and tipping the stylist and her assistant twice I am having to search for another salon to fix this brassy mess and touch up my dark ""roots""! I would not recommend this salon. more

Nichole is the best 11/2/2009

I have been a long time client of Nichole's and I wanted to take a moment to say what an amazing job she does on my hair. I am constantly changing what I want with my haircut and hair color and every single time I leave with beautiful hair. Most recently she has altered my color so I am ready for fall.... I feel like I should be in a magazine. I have really fine hair and she has shown me how to style it to make it look fuller. I have never had so many compliments on my hair. Love the salon and love Nichole. Pros: beautiful hair and good conversation Cons: not one more

I just had my third visit with Nichole and each time my hair becomes prettier. Never in my life have I had such a great experience at a salon or loved my hair this much. Nichole takes the time to discuss with me what we should do with my hair and always has great ideas on how to make it even better. She is up on all the latest trends and I feel like my hair is right out of Vogue Magazine. Not only does my hair look amazing I have such a great time when I see her. Great place to get a haircut! 10/14/2009

I'm very picky with my hair. I moved from NJ/NY about 5 years ago and would still wait til I went back to visit to get my hair done. Going to this salon was the best decision! My friend recommended me to Jen Shayya, she was excellent. They welcome you when you come in, give you a chance to sit down and tell them exactly what you're looking for, she explains what she'll do, then she shampoos with a little scalp massage, then a hot wax treatment for your hands that just keeps them soft, then finally the haircut. They only use a top-of-the-line product, bumble and bumble. There aren't many salons that are exclusive bumble and bumble users..they were sought out by BandB to use their product! Finally there's also a great welcome package including discounts and free types of treatments. One of the treatments had a value of $65! There's great incentive to go back and great incentive to tell are your friends! Pros: Beautiful atmosphere, great treatment, and great haircut! more

I have been going to Sara Beard for years and have always been VERY, VERY happy with her. Sara takes the time to talk to me about what I want my hair to look like, the time I'm willing to spend styling it and what will and won't work. She shows me how to achieve the look at home and her suggestions about cut and color are amazing. Pros: Everyone goes the extra mile more

Amazing talent 10/5/2009

I went to Jess and fell in LOVE! I decided to try her because everyone on my floor at work goes to her and loves her and I was lookin for a new style and color. she was amazing!!! she explained to me my options and what would look best with my skin tone but was very open to me not wanting ANY red in my hair. she explained the process and the up keep so i wouldnt be shocked by anything. she even wrote out what i needed to book for the next 3 appointments so i would know the cost and time i would have to allow. she was amazing and the free gift they give to new clients is even better!! anyone and everyone should try samuelcole salon and jess!
