YUM, everytime!!! 9/25/2007

We live close by and like Stephanie R., drove by millions of times but was never drawn in as the street appeal is so, so. We have gone twice in one week and continue to go at least once a month now. We have ordered a few appetizers, but our favorite dishes by far are the Risotto (prawn/scallop) and the Sea Salt Chicken. Also, love the $20 wine list that is available. The wait staff is always pleasant and not overly bothersome and I enjoy the open bar and eating areas, but also the private wooden booths. more

Where was our server..... and our food..... 3/7/2007

I heard such great things about this place and maybe we went on a bad night... but the service was shitting and my grandma could have done a better job serving than our server. The place wasn't that busy and we didn't order the "special" and it took over an hour to get our food. We ordered drinks and water.... we drank the water and wanted a refill, but the server never came by the entire hour we waited for our food. When she did bring our food, she almost left... we had to ask for a refill of water.... the glasses were clearly at the end of the table empty. The food was luke warm and wasn't very flavorful. People in the same section we sat in with more people in their party came, got their drinks, food and refills and were gone before we even got our food. I don't think I will be going back to Saltoro's anytime soon. more

Great everytime 7/1/2006

Everytime I go to Saltoro's I am pleasantly surprised. My husband and I went there one time just to see what it was about having seen it 8 bajillion times on our way home. The menu is fairly simple...maybe that is the wrong word. It isn't terribly convoluted but the offerings are delicious with unique ingredients prepared in imaginitive ways without being scary (holothuroidea pickled then deep fried briefly in pistachio oil fragranced with jasmine flowers, topped with dried fruit compote, crumbled Brazilian peanuts and a slight sprinkling of pomegranite seeds anyone?) At the end of our delightful dinner we ordered dessert. I am not a big chocolate person...more of a fruity girl so I ordered the cherry clafoutti and my husband ordered the chocolate cake. The clafoutti was delicious BUT when I tasted a bite of my husband's choco cake, I thought I must have died and gone to heaven. Delicate yet dense, tender and light as air but substatial. A heavenly chocoate flavor...amazing! Friendly staff and fast service in an attractively casual yet ambient atmosphere make for a lovely evening. We have taken friends there since and they loved it too! Saltoro's rocks! more
