Review content:
Everytime I go to Saltoro's I am pleasantly surprised. My husband and I went there one time just to see what it was about having seen it 8 bajillion times on our way home. The menu is fairly simple...maybe that is the wrong word. It isn't terribly convoluted but the offerings are delicious with unique ingredients prepared in imaginitive ways without being scary (holothuroidea pickled then deep fried briefly in pistachio oil fragranced with jasmine flowers, topped with dried fruit compote, crumbled Brazilian peanuts and a slight sprinkling of pomegranite seeds anyone?)
At the end of our delightful dinner we ordered dessert. I am not a big chocolate person...more of a fruity girl so I ordered the cherry clafoutti and my husband ordered the chocolate cake. The clafoutti was delicious BUT when I tasted a bite of my husband's choco cake, I thought I must have died and gone to heaven. Delicate yet dense, tender and light as air but substatial. A heavenly chocoate flavor...amazing! Friendly staff and fast service in an attractively casual yet ambient atmosphere make for a lovely evening. We have taken friends there since and they loved it too!
Saltoro's rocks!
