Best

My husband and I absolutely LOVE eating here. It's our favorite date spot. Great location and food. I would recommend it to anyone.

Worst

I recently had a business dinner at Ruth's Chris steak house and was grimly unimpressed. The brocolli came bearly steamed without a trace of salt or pepper. The asparagus was bitt...

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/25/2012

Good steaks but waayyyy overpriced. Not worth it. go to Angus Barn instead. Meals there typically cost us $70pp for a 1-lb steak, salad, no potato or veggie and a beer/wine. Not worth it. more

I like Ruth's Chris, but how did this turn up under Citysearch's ""Cheap Eats"" category? Cheap for whom? more

Favorite place. 4/16/2011

Soooo disappointed! 11/13/2010

I'll keep this short and sweet..... Service was okay, I actually had to ask to have my water glass refilled twice after it sat empty for quite some time. We order filets and sauteed spinach and the spinach was so bland and boring with a little sprinkle of minced garlic (raw) on top. We both ordered the filet medium and both were grossly overcooked, seared pretty dark and crispy on the outside almost appearing burned and then gray and chewy on the inside. The only pink part of the whole steak was one bite in the very center. For the prices you pay at this restaurant it should be perfect. I would never pick Ruth's Chris again for a fine dining experience. Ahn blows it away among many other less expensive choices. more

Ok Service and Poor Management Response 6/14/2010

Issue 1: Food Poisoning/Management Attitude We attended Ruth's Chris Steak House and within hours my girlfriend was extremely sick from presumed food poisoning (we contacted the family doctor after hours which is something I haven't done in quite some time). We don't eat out frequently and although the food and service in restaurant was excellent, I am giving a review of 1 star because of the response of the CEO regarding the experience. We contacted the company the next day to alert them of the illness and they responded with a written letter apologizing and saying that since they received no other complaints and that they only serve the finest food, please dine with us again. Considering the reputation of this restaurant, I expected a different tone in the letter which basically suggested in many words that the restaurant was not at fault and will not even provide a free dinner or dessert! From the tone and words in the letter, I can only conclude that they either do not believe that the illness is related to the dining experience or that our business is not worth their attention. Yes, their food *is* good, and the service in restaurant was excellent as others say, but out of principle I will not dine here and hope others at least consider how this attitude is not a desirable one coming from a fine dining establishment. Issue 2: Mixed Drink Quality We had gone over to the standing bar to get a few mixed drinks, the first drink I ordered for my girlfriend, they forgot and simply gave her what I ordered for myself. The second drink order was a cosmo that tasted like paint thinner. By this time we had 2 drinks that were not what my girlfriend wanted, overall not excellent. When they got the drinks right they were not bad, but there was quite a bit of trial and error there to get through it. Pros: Polite Waitstaff Cons: Food Poisoning, Mixed drinks were poor quality more

Not Worth It 5/10/2010

Went to Ruth Chris for Mother's Day. It's been a couple of years since I last went and don't remember the prices being so out of line and the food was not as stellar as I remember. Paid $51 for a 6 oz filet that was comparable to any medium priced restaurant filet and a small, overcooked lobster tail. My wife had one cocktail ($14 martini). Dinner for wife and two kids with tip was $296. Service was okay (after we had to ask for bread). There were not many people there, I understand why. So many more better choices in the area. Pros: Nice amosphere Cons: Way overpriced more

OMG!!! 4/22/2010

Let me tell you, I don't know what they did to their mashed potatoes. But they were best mashed potatoes I've ever had! The lobster was to die for! \r \r I didn't have the steak personally but my husband still raves about it. \r \r The lighting and atomsphere was friendly and fast service. Everything was excellent!!! Althou, we didn't care much for the tight seating arrangements. But we really enjoyed the dinner. Pros: Just order the main lobster! Cons: Seats were really close. more

GREAT FOOD !!! 8/14/2009

Not impressed ....at all 11/23/2008

This is the third time we have dined at Ruth's Chris in Cary. The last time was an absolute fiasco. This visit was better (did not have a smoke-filled room over the bar), but not by much. We went with a few friends after being told that they had a ""new, lower-priced"" menu. \r \r I have to say that by mid-meal, we were put off enough to ask for the manager! I don't know if it was because we were dressed in casual, business attire or what...but our waiter was in a huge hurry to turn our table over!\r Every was rushed through. We had our entrees for about four minutes before he was back, not to ask how everything was, but to ask for dessert orders! \r \r The food was good, but no better than we could have eaten at Outback or other such locations. The service on the other hand, was rude and snobbish! I rated this with one star, because for the setting and the prices, the food and service should be nothing less that 5 Stars! \r \r If you check the reviews, 22 out of 74 are three Stars or less....that is nothing to brag about! more

One of the BEST Meals I have had in quite a long time... 11/11/2008

You can comment on the fantastic food and the great wine list, but let's face it, this doesn't assure a good experience. It's all about the service. I took a friend to this Ruth Chris for a birthday. I had moderate expectations, and would have been happy with a good steak and decent bottle of wine. \r I was blown away at the tremendous and fabulous experience we had there that evening. Our server, Joe, took care of us the way servers at fine restaurants did 30 years ago. He was knowledgeable, anticipated our needs, and was skilled at his trade. \r Needless to say, I will be using this restaurant frequently. Pros: There is not enough room here to describe the positive, but if I had to pick one, it would be service. Cons: It is costly, but appropriately priced. more

Best restaurant in the area! 11/7/2008

I dined at Ruth's Chris about 2 weeks ago and fell in love with the place. Everyone was so gracious. My server was very knowledgeable and very much on point throughout the entire meal. The food was fantastic and the filet was melt in your mouth. The manager even stopped by on two separate occassions to check that all was as good as expected. I will definately revisit this location soon especially since the new menu includes salad, steak and dessert for 35 dollars. Definately an A plus on my list. Pros: Service and the food outstanding more

Average 10/3/2008

Not excellent but by far better than Jimmy V''s. The steak is just average and crowded but is easy to find. more

Great Place, Great food 9/7/2008

The atmosphere, food, and service is outstanding here. We often dine at Ruth's Chris and have been to many locations. This one is much better than the newer one in Raleigh. Pros: valet parking, great food, service, & ambience more

Great service, so-so food 9/6/2008

I ate here this summer one night with my husband and one afternoon with my friends. The service both times was exceptionally attentive. When my husband and I went, I had steak, which was tougher than I expected for such a high end place. I had chicken when I went with my friends, which was fine. I have eaten at other places with similar prices and enjoyed it more. One of my friends remarked that she enjoyed her steak more at Winston's. I did not experience anything remarkable about any of the food. We received a note in the mail from our server two months later inviting us back (my husband had completed a comment card to compliment his service). A nice touch, but not enough to make us spend that much money for average food. I would much prefer Angus Barn (better steaks) or Second Empire (more complex and enjoyable food) to Ruth's Chris. Pros: great service, lovely facility Cons: food is just okay, not amazing more

Most expensive average food I have ever had 7/18/2008

Lighting too dark, odd layout (we sat in the balcony area), slow service (yes we had reservations), my teeth were not sharp enough to chew through the beef. Got a nice letter from corporate HQ and played telephone tag with the local manager and I finally gave up. We will not make the mistake of going there again. Pros: Free Valet Parking Cons: The food quality and price more

WOW!!! What an experience! 7/18/2008

My husband and I recently dined at the Ruth's Chris in Cary, and I tell you what, I have never had an experience like this in a resteraunt. The steak absolutely melted in my mouth. Cooked to perfection to say the least! The service was phenomenal! Our server 's name was Matt. I had never dined at a Ruth's Chris prior to this occasion. Matt made us feel so comfortable, and on top of that, had an irresistable sense of humor. His continuous smile let me know that we were in great hands. I highly recommend Ruth's Chris to anyone who wants to enjoy a special evening, where food and service are incomparable to any other resteraunt in the triangle! Pros: best service ever! best steak ever! Cons: n/a more

Best steak and cheese cake I have ever eaten. 6/1/2008

We were invited to a seminar at this restaurant after never having tried it on our own due to the prices. I will admit it was the very best steak I have ever had and it didn't stop there. Their homemade cheese cake was to die for and the coffee was an outstanding compliment to it. While this will be a place I can only return for a very special occasion, I would highly recommend it. Pros: Delicious Cons: Pricey more

Ruth Chris steakhouse 3/28/2008

The steaks were excellently prepared, but the service felt rushed and too snobish,I feel that these prices are rediculous, they should lower their prices to service the majority of hard working americans and not just for elitist in NC. more

WOW what a perfect evening 3/11/2008

My inlaws fiftieth wedding anniversary was this weekend. We decided to tale them and several family members to Ruth' Chris. Michele and Christy along with two young men took very good care of us. They were terrific! We were seated in an area that was draped off to provide our group an intimate and secluded feeling in the busy restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic and exactly what we expected. Several in our group had never been so Christy explained the way the menu worked. My wife had the Tuna and let me tell you, I don't know what the other reviewer received but her's was flavorful and cooked exactly as she had asked. Expensive, yes but we got exactly what we paid for and then some. Thanks Ruth's Chris and your staff members for making this a memorable occasion. Pros: Service was fantastic more

Not worth the money... 1/19/2008

My fiance and I recently ate at Ruth Chris in Cary and were greatly disappointed. First, our salads were very boring -- salads we had recently at Bonefish Grill were much, much better and considerably less expensive. Next, our filets were overcooked -- we had ordered them medium well but there were no pink centers. In addition, they were extremely salty. I would have thought that an expensive restaurant that specialized in steaks would know how to cook one. Finally, our sides, while certainly large, consisted of watery mash potatoes and spinach.\r \r I did take the time to write to the Ruth Chris management from their website to let them know of our experience. COO David Sadeghi wrote back to apologize but did not even include a free dessert coupon or anything to entice us back to Ruth Chris to try again. \r \r Our dinner was about $120. I would suggest that your money would be far, far better spent at our favorite restaurant in the area, P.F. Changs. Ruth Chris is not a great value. Pros: Very attentive service Cons: Poor value, food not well prepared more
