Lack of Professionalism 3/27/2011

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at North to celebrate his birthday. After dinner we meet up with friends to have a few drinks at the bar. The bar staff was extremely rude -- when asked to present identification they did not want to serve my husband because he license expire (on his 34 birthday). We proceeded to advise the bartender that we just had dinner along with wine and cocktails. After speaking with her manager, she came back and said she could serve him as long as we told her who our server was. We felt extremely uncomfortable and thought it was a very inappropriate question to ask a customer. The situation became tense and the group left North and had drinks at the JW Marriott. The kicker is that our table was not ready when we arrived at North so we got a cocktail at the bar ...who did not ask for identification. Pros: great food, great atmosphere Cons: unprofessional bartender and management more

NoRTH has gone SOUTH 7/6/2010

Why is it that restaurants have such a hard time hiring good wait staff? NoRTH has been hiring 'hipsters' with bad attitudes and terrible knowledge of food. Why spend your hard-earned money at a place that's going to give you the cold-shoulder and a ""better-than-you"" attitude? The last time we ate here, our waitress acted like she hated waiting tables. Rude and outright pathetic. How sad to see this establishment go down the tubes. HINT: Happy hour is still worth it. The bar staff is great. Go to the bar instead! Pros: Food is still good Cons: The service is AWFUL more

Adorable Setting, Wonderful Modern Italian Cuisine 5/10/2010

This modern restaurant takes true Italian cooking to a whole new level. The dish I ordered was phenominal, Goat Cheese, Date, and Proscuttio pizza. It was delicious and a truly unique flavor combination. Pros: ZUCCA CHIPS... Enough Said Cons: ...Nothing more

Good, not great 12/16/2009

Overall a good experience, but the food was not at all exceptional. Pros: Diverse menu Cons: Food was just ok more

poor management 9/8/2009

My wife and I went into North in Cherry Creek a few nights ago, expecting a nice dinner however it wasn't so nice. We had excellent service our server and staff were prompt and kept our table well maintained however, the food was awlful, highly over salted which leads me to believe that the true taste is being disguised. Our server prompltly had a manager come who introduced himself as Tyson, his overall attitude was extremly pompous and he seemed irritiated with our complaints. Pros: great location Cons: staff more

Osso Buco = knock your socks off 11/22/2008

It was 7:30pm on a Friday (tonight, actually). My husband and I had been running errands all day and were in need of sustenance. We first thought ""Cherry Cricket"" (because of their amazing burgers, and proximity to our location) but the wait was 40 minutes. Deciding to continue to stroll down the street, we ducked in to HAPA Sushi. The wait was 45-50 minutes. Screw that. We were about to leave Cherry Creek North altogether when we saw ""NoRTH"".. and decided, ""what the hell?"" and strolled on in. more

Great restaurant & service, but beware the ""Ex-Lax Fish"" 8/24/2008

I originally rated this restaurant as four stars on another review site. The service was good and the food was tasty and elegantly prepared. I decided to do another review after researching the fish I ate there, which is called Escolar. Both myself and my date were slightly queasy after eating there for her birthday dinner a few weeks ago, but thought it was due to eating too much of the fried zucchini appetizer. According to several sites on the internet, Escolar is known as the ""Ex-Lax Fish"" because of its high content of indigestible wax esters, which cause varying amounts of digestive system discomfort. This has prompted the nations of Japan and Italy to ban the Escolar. I wish that restaurants like North would do the same. ~$24 a plate for a fish which is a known problem is outrageous. Pros: tasty food, good service Cons: Escolar aka ""the Ex-Lax fish"" more

Great food and a fun atmosphere 5/10/2008

I first went here for 5280 week two years ago and now go often. The food is excellent, one of the best chicken parm dishes I've ever had, and the atmosphere is trendy. Good wine list. Fun part of town. Pros: All of the food I've had there is great especially the chicken parm Cons: Can be a bit noisy and tables are fairly close together more

Hip atmosphere but food can be improved 3/27/2008

We went to North on a weekday night and didn't have to wait for a table since it was still early. This place gets really packed though, even on weekday nights by 7 pm or so. Very nice for people watching, the decor is hip and fun, the music is pleasant and not overly loud. The service could have been better - the waiter just didn't really seem interested in us since we weren't ordering expensive drinks, even though we spent a significant amount on dinner itself. The prices are a bit high, and the food could be better. Their fish, however, is excellent. The appetizers/salads could be improved. The bread was dry. The presentation of the food is nice, but we were overall unimpressed with the rest. This is more of a dress up/drinks kind of place and it would be great for that, especially sitting out on the patio in the summer. The location is great but parking is difficult. The restaurant offers valet parking. Pros: Great atmosphere, good bar scene Cons: Food is average, parking hard to find more

Great Place! 3/5/2008

I went to North this past weekend with a friend and we had a great experience. I typically try to stay away from Cherry Creek restaurants because I think the people are a bit too stuffy, but will continue to dine at North. I was nervous upon entering because it looked completely packed from the outside. As soon as we opened the doors, we were bombarded with the amazing smells. The hostesses were very friendly. We arrived a little early, so we could have a drink at the bar. The bar was crowded, but we were lucky to find some stools that just opened up. The bartenders were prompt, very friendly, and made great wine recomendations. Once seated at our table, we were immediately impressed with our waiter. He was very knowledgeable and didn't make us feel as though we had to rush through dinner. I think the menu is very diverse and their is something for all tastebuds. I started with the mozzerella and tomatoe salad, which was great. This is a typical item on many menus, but I have to say this was the best I've ever had! I had the tuna for dinner, which was also great. I walked away very happy that I stepped out of my box and this Cherry Creek restaurant. I have a friend in town this weekend and will have to take her to North! Pros: Service, Food, the smells! Cons: Parking more

Great wait staff, romantic 2/23/2008

My foodie friends and I arrived for 5280 Restaurant Week. II went with the fresh mozzarella ? nummy! But really can you go wrong with fresh mozzarella? The neat surprise was the olive oil soaked bread I the bowl! All the flavors were really tasty. Second course I went with the strozzapreti ? added chicken! It was really delicious. Good flavors and super filling! I?ll be having lunch for sure! The final course was the Nutella Cake. It was tasty ? but I?m not a huge fan of the flowerless cake ? so? All in all it was a very enjoyable meal. The wait staff was excellent and attentive. The wine suggestions were great and we weren?t rushed even thought it was a Saturday night and we were doing the 5280 menu! Great for wooing the women. It had plentiful seating but wasn't overly loud. The bar was backed at 4:30 on a Saturday. Pros: Excellent attention by wait staff, great tasting food Cons: Bar is crowded more

Food & Service is A+++ 1/2/2008

NoRTH remains one of my top favorite restaurants. I try new places quite often, but I always go back to NoRTH. Their service is impeccable. One waiter (Christian, we just love him!) is so detailed and honest - he's one of the reasons we return. The other reason, is the tasty food. We order the same thing almost every time - zucca Chips, calamari and chicken parm (carb, carb and more carb). All are so wonderful, tasty and never feels like you're eating a vat of oil. It's all fresh! Order the chicken parm and it's perfect for leftovers. Pros: Service, Food Cons: Parking more

Great Food! 11/15/2007

Great food and atmosphere but if you are cheap like me, paid parking can be hard to find depending upon the time of day. This italian restaurant was recommended to me by my elderly parents who just relocated to Denver this summer. I was pleasantly surprised. Pros: Great food and atmosphere Cons: Tough parking at times more

Amazing 9/22/2007

I ate at North the other night, my husband and I go there all the time. The food is always amazing, but you have to have reservations and they may not tell you this, but don't ask for a booth unless because you won't get it, unless it's a slow night. We started with the zucca chips and also got a pizza. I had the chicken parm and that is one of my favorites. The only thing that sucked was there was child next to us that was loud and made it hard to enjoy our dinner. who brings a kid out to dinner at a nice place? Don't bring your kids there and it's not a good place for a romantic date. The place has an upbeat atmosphere. The service is great when we have John Tucker! He pays attention to detail and the needs of his guests. We have had a couple of the other servers and they always seem too busy to give good sevice and don't always answer our questions. Ask for John tucker when you make your reservation. The Hostess are delightful! My husbands in love with all of them! Will be back again. more

Welcoming service, Fresh ideas 8/6/2007

I've been to North on several different occasions, both lunch and dinner, and each time have not only enjoyed myself, but also looked forward to going back. While the first time I ate at North it seemed like I went in the midst of a very busy lunch hour, our server was smiling and knowledgeable (able to answer our questions) despite the hustle in her step and noticeable hurrying around. Our food was delivered surprisingly promptly, though the dining room seemed nearly full. We were not rushed, and were able to enjoy our delicious bruschetta (a different twist from the traditional tomato-topped version - ours had prociutto and creamy cheese) before our main meals arrived. The fish of the day was fresh and vibrant and delicious, and the sandwich my friend ordered savory and looked great on the plate. The dinners I've spent at this restaurant are no different - the scene is trendy, but seemed also family friendly as there were a handful of children around us. Our server talked us through ordering our wine, and the manager even came over to check in with us to see how we were enjoying our choice. The rissotto was cooked to perfection, and my sides of vegetables were just the right portion and flavors. The few bites of my husband's meal I tried (he had the ahi tuna with fresh organic vegetables), I loved. Pros: upbeat service, delicious food, great energy, fresh interior Cons: noisier than some restaurants more

They should call this place ""Trendi Overprix"" 7/4/2007

I had to go to a company dinner here. It is trendy, overpriced, average food, attractive waitresses/hostesses. more

horse shite 4/6/2007

what a pile of cow dung, I have eaten in resaurants all over the world and never have I been this disapointed. I brought my friends and parents out for a night out and thought wse would eat in a sports bar across the road but having seen the plastic containers being wielded out of the kitchen I thought it would be best to get a proper place to eat. After being told it would be a 45 minute wait we thougt we would have a drink in the bar across the road and then head over and check out the bar in North, to my disapointment it was full of pompous idiots. The worst thing was were stuck there for almost two hours waiting for a table without apology. The service was terrible to ay the least, unwelcoming and not to the level expected of a top restaurant in this day and age. The staff seem to lack knowledge, the menu is uninteresting and the whole experience was a complete letdown. I only wish that we had eaten at the Cherry Cricket sports bar across the road. more

Best lunch in Cherry Creek 2/13/2007

I have been working in Cherry Creek for six years now and have finally found a place that I want to go to for lunch. I have eaten everywhere in the Creek and North has been the best so far. I go there to sit at the bar and watch the news, I can get out in less then 45min. I bounce back from the meatball sandwich and the tuta la casa salad which is full of Italian meats and cheeses. The bartenders are always friendly and the host knows me by name. One of the best finds in Cherry Creek. Pros: The service more

Trendy! 11/24/2006

Wow, this place is very trendy. Seemed like it was the hip restaurant to be in on a Friday night. Waitstaff was a little overbearing and the food was pretty decent. Not many interesting choices if you're vegetarian. I ended up with just an angel hair pasta...something I could have made at home. Very crowded and we were seated right by the bar so people we right up against us during our whole meal. Pros: Seemed like a hip place to be. Cons: Overcrowded! more
