Best

This is our go to place in Denver. We have never had a bad meal here.

Worst

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at North to celebrate his birthday. After dinner we meet up with friends to have a few drinks at the bar. The bar staff was extremely rud...

Location, location, location 11/14/2006

You can't beat North's prime Cherry Creek location. Whether seated in eth restaurant, at the bar, outside on teh patio, or just walking by - the people watching is fabulous. Teh ambience & energy are enough to overlook the average food & service. Pros: Location. Ambience. Energy. Cons: Average food & service. more

At the bar during sunset 10/19/2006

Wash Park Grill beats North?!? Give me a break...North wins all day long and sun set long. Window line, cool peeps, and you want what else? ""Best Of"" better be careful...there could be a mutiny! Ad $ are one thing, the truth is another. Pros: location Cons: bar space more

Overrated 7/19/2006

OK, so when I called for a reservation, the hostess gave me hard time that I was calling too late for a reservation on Monday (7/17)night at 7PM. After giving me a hard time, she found a table for us at 6:45. When I arrived, I was seated with a menu in front of me that was filthy. All of the other menus were also dirty at our table of 4. Our waitress rushed us through our entire meal, although the restaurant was only half full. We told her multiple times that we would let her knwo when we were ready to order, but she insisted in making our dining experience a race. I ordered the snapper special. Could have gone to Long John Silvers and had a better ( (and much less expensive meal). The fish was unremarkable and served on a bed of tomato rossotto that was ""last weeks salad leftovers"" according to a friend who had the same thing. North used to be good, but I think they need a kick int he pants. If it weren't for their location, I think they would be on their way to being just a average to low average restaurant. more

Great Service Better Food 5/14/2006

I have been living in Denver for 12 years now and finally we have a great Italian restaurant in Cherry Creek. I was skeptical to give it a try at first because I thought it was going to be another trendy spot which lacked quality. However after my first visit I was clearly mistaken. The food is wonderful every dish that I have had has been great. I always eat Italian food and the Bolognese at North is the best I have ever had. The fish special which I eat every time now is always creative and new. As a bonus to the food the service staff is very efficient and friendly. I am always trying new wines and if you invite it they will talk about Italian wines all night clarifying a confusing wine region. Go on a week night or Sunday to avoid the crowds. Pros: Service, Inexpensive, Food Cons: Parking, n/a, n/a more

Use to be good 2/17/2006

We've been to North about 5 times since it opened. The food has gotten consistently worse each time. The pasta was terrible and the main courses were below average. The osso buco had so much going on in flavors we weren't sure what we were eating. The highlight of the night was the salad and appetizer special -- they were very good. North use to have a GREAT wine selection - we were not impressed. The Service was good. We won't be going back for a long time. . . more

Pretentious atmosphere, marginal food 12/28/2005

Where do I begin with North (or nOrth, or norTH or whatever) First off, they didn't have enough chairs for our reservation of 6 so our poor friend had to sit on a patio chair(!) the entire meal while empty tables with empty chairs surrounded us. Our food was not at all memorable. When asked to make us a special drink at the bar our server replied with ""We are a restaurant, NOT a bar"" Sorry buddy, the 3 bartenders and 50 people huddled around the UNbar tipped us off. Our server was consistently aloof and snotty (we preferred aloof) North, we spent an OBSCENE amount of money at your restaurant and were answered with rudeness. How much would one have to spend to be treated well? I doubt this ""concept"" will fly for long in Denver. more

Valet parking abuses 11/1/2005

I can take or leave North (quite the Cherry Creek scene) but every now and again I go there for drinks...but who are these restaurants that block off a half block for their damn valet service?? What kind of major attitude is that? Parking in Cherry Creek is tough enough to find without the little orange pylons blocking off 5 - 7 spots of choice parking - for no reason! I can see one or two car lengths, but North abuses this practice, annoying the non-valet parker, as well as every other person who passes their nose-in-the-air joint. Management at North needs to review this practice - or the City needs to get involved and help them out a bit. more

without strong substance 10/29/2005

If you like the fabu casual fanciness and crowd at places like Mao, youll probably like this. For me, the food, service and interior seemed to be puttin on big city airs without strong substance underneath. Its what passes for fine dining among a crowd that doesnt know what a leek is but has a leather jacket and a Saab. more

Used Gift Card, But Will Be Back On Our Own Dime 10/20/2005

We got a great table beside the beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows, my chopped salad was terrific as was my husband's other salad choice. I had the salmon with baked squash & spinach - very good. My dinner companion had a pasta dish and enjoyed it as well. The tiramisu I could take or leave . . . no real lady fingers in it, just more puddinglike. Our waitress was very solicitious and found the answer to a somewhat obscure foodie question we had. Beautiful surroundings - I wish I was seated where I could have watched the bar scene, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and their meals. Pros: Moderately Priced, Great Food, Private Party Room more

It was amazing! 10/9/2005

I was told that North was hottest place in town - but that reservations were nearly impossible. One to never accept the impossible I called for a reservation. The lady that answered the phone was courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and I was able to book a table on the day and time I requested. The food was amazing - seasoned to perfection - the service was perfect. My server John Tucker (I asked for his full name because I was so impressed) made wonderful recomendations that enhanced my meal. The right cocktail with the right appetizer - the right wine with my entree and an amazing port with my dessert. My meal was creative with just the right hint of a suprise for me to remain intrigued. In short it was a memorable experience and I can't wait to go back. Pros: Service, wine list, menu more

Terribly fake and pretentious 9/18/2005

I was told that North was the new ""hip"" spot to eat in Denver. How untrue that recommendation was. The food, especially the Steak Delmonico, was salty and dry. The scene sucked as it was filled with a bunch of wannaby pretentios Cherry Creek snobs. Martinis-weak at best. Go if you want very little value for your dollar and if you want to laugh at a bunch of idiot snobs. more

miserable 8/25/2005

absolutely horrible service, overrated food, and tacky/cheesy people. Avoid at all costs. more

User review by sarabelles 7/28/2005

All the buzz in Denver is NoRTH so when my friend came to visit we were sure to make this our first stop. Atmosphere was fantastic, crowd was good and service was great. I will never put that food in my mouth again though. It was like they dumped a bucket of salt on my plate. We had 4 appetizers, all terrible, the duck and skirt steak, HORRIBLE! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you are going for drinks at the bar. Worst meal I have had since I have lived in Denver! more

Head NoRTH for a good meal. 6/20/2005

Casual contemporary cuisine awaits you within NoRTH's hip and inviting dining room. We had the Zucca chips as a starter. There's tasty and seem to melt away when placed in your mouth. We also tried the Antipasti. I thought it was a little too small to share with more than two people. They seemed to be out of several menu items and it was only 7:30! I tried the duck. It was very tasty. I also sampled the skirt steak and I thought it was good, but not out-of-this-world. The wine list features mostly Italian wines. Prices are within reason. Service was good. For dessert we tried a decadent Nutella cake and a velvety Vanilla Panacotta. Valet Parking available. Be sure to make reservations. Pros: Ambiance, Service Cons: Parking, Gets crowded more

A lovely treat in Cherry Creek... North 6/1/2005

While my Italian Greyhound Anna, recovering from surgery, did not ravish the steak left overs she simply loved the duck. And I must say it went quite nicely with the Riesling the night before. I assume the pain killers have slightly altered her tastes since the steak was actually divine. Dessert was just as delicious and free since the staff decided it did not meet their visual standards; the taste passed mine. Beyond their aesthetics, the staff were very helpful an delivered a wonderful service. Even the slightly spicier port that was recommended ended up balancing out the rich dessert. Note, I was allowed to sample it before deciding. Anyway, the surroundings were modern and the people fashionable if not a touch loud. Definitely add it to your Mao/Zengo fun list. Pros: Taste, Service, Quality Cons: Noise more
