Excellent food for the price. The curry soup shines, as does the risotto. Comfortable, trendy decor. Great date place. I've only been here twic...

Worst

The service is barely passable, you can't get a table without a reservation in under 2 weeks - and just try to speak with a live person - let alone get a reservation...you will be...

You must try this place 9/4/2005

It's a great place. I've been there two times( will actually three, but I got called away and couldn't stay). After eating there for the first time, I wanted to return two weeks later and did! I've had at least eight different things on their menu ( appetizers, entrees, deserts total) and only one thing was average ( the steak with some type of cheese) everything else is superb. I'm impressed enough to take my family here when they visit-- wanting to show them why San Francisco is known for their great restaurants. Pros: food, comfortable seating, decor Cons: pricey more

Amazing Restaurant! 8/28/2005

This was such a great dining experience. The staff was great - hostess and our waiter. The food was absolutely amazing - had the risotto for an appetizer and then the scallops. Soo good!! We have a wine off the section of the menu that had bottles under $25 and it was incredible. I loved that they had affordable, good wines on the menu. The only disspointment was dessert - we had the ice cream sandwhich and it was nothing special at all - was definetely not on par with the rest of the meal - I'd say my food was a 10 while the dessert was a 4. But even with that, I would still go back. Try it! Pros: food, wine list, atmosphere Cons: dessert more

Good Friday Night Date 8/12/2005

After reading many reviews posted on this site, I was concerned about the service and attitude of the staff. I can say that I feel I went to a different restaurant than many of to the negative posters. The hostess was very friendly ( even when I called to increase my reservation). We were treated to free pizza compliments of the staff because our reservation was 30 minutes late. The service was perfect ( Ron was our waiter and he was great, good recommendations and very sociable) The food was outstanding - although lamb chops were a bit common - everything else was outstanding. This is really a treat, and a wonderful spot for a romantic date! Don't pass this up based on the fact that you are worried about snotty staff -- it is simply not true! Pros: great food, Friendly service more

Fantabulous 7/20/2005

This was a magnificent restaurant, our server was incredible- really aadorable french guy. We were with a larger party and his service was incredibly unobtrusive. The best thing about Myth other than the decor and food, was that they offer two sizes on entrees: regular and small plate. This was ideal as I never can finish my food if I have an app and entree, so it feels like a waste. I was able to try a bunch of dishes and it was an incredible value. Highly recommend giving it a shot! Pros: Food-portions, Service, Decor more

amazing service! 7/10/2005

I dined at Myth on Saturday night for a double date and it was a great experience. The staff was attentive but not overbearing and the food was delicous. The four of us felt like we were dining in private as our booth was not too close to other tables. Very intimate and memorable--a great addition to SF! Pros: service, atmosphere Cons: hard to park, hard to get a table more

Large Space with Warmth 6/26/2005

They really did a good job with warming up this industrial space that used to be M-squared. The atmosphere is very sophisticated and the service is great. We sat at the bar and had 2 flights of wine and 3 appetizers. The scallops are the best I ever had. I admit, the menu itself is very meat-heavy and I could only consider a few items. Our server- also the bartender (Jeff) was fantastic. He managed to work the bar giving each customer equal attention. Even when I accidently dropped a wine glass, he made a joke about it to make me feel better! ooops! The atrium walk to the bathrooms is very nice, they should use this space for seating, I think they are planning to do so. This place seems to attract a mature (over 40) hip crowd. more

They care 6/23/2005

The service was well above average and our waiter was unusually attentive. My steak was extremely tender but not especially flavorful, further disguised by a bleu cheese sauce. The foie-gras stuffed pasta was very good and the lobster gazpacho delicious. The noise level was tolerable, in spite of the ubiquitous office party at the next table. For the first time ever, the waiter offered to put our valet parking fee on the bill, saving the hassle of fishing out cash at the curb. He even called the car for us without being asked. Pros: service, ambiance, convenience more

Great in everyway 6/17/2005

I had dinner at the bar last night with a friend, and we were treated very well by the bartender, he was attentive and maintained eye contact with the entire bar to insure good service for everyone. The food was very impressive and quite unique. I highly recommend this place and have found my new favorite spot in the city. more

World Class Food!! 6/1/2005

I am still thinking about my meal at Myth-absolutely wonderful in every respect. Love the food!! with a special thanks to David (our server) who recommended our food and wine. All of my four dishes were perfect-the tuna poke was so fresh, the risotto was creamy, the salmon so flavorful and my dessert, warm chocolate spring rolls splendid. Thanks to the staff and Chef Sean 'Brien for a special evening. I look forward to my next visit Pros: Great food, Quality, Atmosphere more

Good ambience 5/29/2005

The decor of the restaurant is very nice. Service was attentive. They serve a sparkling water from Norway. The shrimp bisque was flavorful with chunks of shrimp and crab. The foie gras was too sweet for me, 3 dollops of a foie gras paste on top of a toasted bread round which I could've skipped. The duck pizza was delightfully crispy. My scallops were nicely cooked, not overdone. I had a taste of the pork and would recommend that dish as well as the tender beef cheeks, which was cooked in wine. The orange creamsicle was delicious. I wasn't impressed w/the chocolate eggroll (2 small eggrolls with melted chocolate inside) served with a lemony pudding, nor the brulee-like dessert. Pros: Nice decor, Good service, Reasonable prices more

Very mediocre experience 5/27/2005

Like many of the other respondents we had to wait a very long time past our reservation for our table. Service was nonchalant, food was decent, but nowhere near the level of many of the recent posts. Plenty of other options with a combination of better service, good food, good decore to be had in this city. Pros: nice interior, reasonable wine list Cons: service attitude, loud more

Top Food in Town 5/26/2005

Myth has the most delicious food in town!! The Braised Beef Cheecks are like eating Kobe Beef. My partner had the Roasted Poussin, it was out of this world. The Chef has great talent!!! The quality, prices are a great bargain. Pros: FOOD, FOOD, BARGAIN more

Great Food!! 5/24/2005

Wow, that about covers it. After reading that Sean was the Executive Sous Chef at San Francisco's Restaurant Gary Danko for five years, I could not wait to get to the restaurant. His menu is between upscale and casual. The Chef has his own personal style, and his food is Four Stars!!!! all the way. We cannot wait to go back. Thank You Sean. Keep up the great food. more

Our new favorite restaurant! 4/7/2005

I took my best friend to dinner there the other night (Wednesday) for her bday, expecting a cold greeting from the hostess, but was pleasantly surprised to find the ENTIRE waitstaff more than helpful. From our entrance into the restaurant to our departure, we must were bombarded (in a very good way) by our hostess, waiter (Dave rocks), the owner, the chef, the entire waitstaff. Our drinks were never empty and our food was super tasty. They simply went the extra mile to make our experience ultra enjoyable. Loved the ambiance, loved everything about this restaurant! I've already made my next reservation! Pros: Food, Service, Decor more

good food, slow seating 3/27/2005

The food was very good, but expensive. However we waited 40 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Probably won't be back Pros: food Cons: reservation system more

Sophisticated Dining with Legendary Fare 3/24/2005

The professionals at Myth have transformed the formerly cold, urban space of MC2 into an inviting venue for fine dining. With exposed brick walls and gossamer fabric flowing down from soaring ceilings, the restaurant offers a chic lounge and a cozy, yet elegant dining room. Appetizers include mushroom dusted scallops and decadent garganelli pasta with foie gras cream, while entrees range from seared lamb chops to pancetta-wrapped monkfish. Most dishes are available in an small plate size or a larger, entree size. Diners should be sure to indulge in the flourless chocolate cake, Meyer lemon cheesecake, or other enticing dessert. The personable, attentive staff seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as the diners, and the focused wine list features gems from California and France at reasonable prices. While the story at Myth can get a little expensive (dinner for two with wine $200), unlike fairy tales, Myth is real. Pros: Innovative dishes, Attentive waitstaff, Chic atmosphere Cons: Lack of parking more

Myth......a reality 3/20/2005

Service - wonderful, our waiter had the perfect balance of being friendly, humorous but leeving us alone at the right times. Can't comment on hostess because we always eat early (6pm on Sat) to avoid the rush. Starters: Cauliflower soup w/ginger had a good balance with just enough ginger to add a zing, Foie gras mousse was done well, sweetbread salad tasted great but a little on the greasy side. Entrees: Beefcheeks-incredibly tender and tasty, mushroon dusted scallops-good but not great, chops -excellent. Overall experience- good, would definitely go back, but would request a booth Pros: food, price more

What a change 3/16/2005

Went here with my wife with no expectations. To say the least, Myth exceeded my expectations in food quality and atmosphere. The service was great also. more

A TRUE REVIEW 3/11/2005

After reading all of these reviews, I just had to try this place and see what all the hype/fuss was about. Yes, I had to wait 45 minutes for my table. Yes, the hostess was indeed very rude to us. Yes, the food was fantastic as well as the ambiance. The wine list plentiful. If management would simply invest in some manner classes for the hoststaff, this place would be perfect. I applaud them for transforming the MC2 space into such an attractive restaurant. So plan to start off your evening feeling snubbed, but the food and wine will make your discomfort disappear. Pros: Food, Wine Cons: Host Staff more
