Best

Excellent food for the price. The curry soup shines, as does the risotto. Comfortable, trendy decor. Great date place. I've only been here twic...

Worst

The service is barely passable, you can't get a table without a reservation in under 2 weeks - and just try to speak with a live person - let alone get a reservation...you will be...

Top notch 3/10/2005

I have dined at Myth a couple of times and love it. The hostess was wonderul as well as the wait staff, and the food was incredible! I use to work as a hostess, and now own my own restaurant, so I know how restaurants work. If you have to wait for your table it is not the hostess fault, it is the customers that decide to have 4 hour long dinners. Again incredible service, and excellent food. Pros: hostess, service, food more

Great Restaurant BUT need a better hostess 3/7/2005

I took my girlfriend there for her birthday. I made reservations for 9:00 p.m.- got seated at 10:15! Actually, I am not so peeved about the length of the wait, I realize that it does happen on a Friday night in SF. But our hostess was completely rude and unaccomodating. Other than her only words of ""you have to wait, its not ready,"" we had to track her down to ask about the status of the table. She didn't show the least bit of caring or concern. Except for the hostess, the food, waitstaff, and sommelier was great. But her treatment turned us off. Pros: Decor, Food, Wine list Cons: Hostess more

A Very Enjoyable Dining Experience 3/3/2005

There seems to be quite a few complaints about the service at Myth. I didn't experience this at all. The host and hostess were very accomodating, and while we did have to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready, it wasn't an extremely long wait. Once seated, our waiter and the sommelier were very attentive and knowledgeable. I thought the menu was diverse enough that most people would be able to find things they like, and the food was quite good. Overall, an excellent night out thanks to the well prepared food, beautiful surroundings, and excellent service...especially from our waiter Pepe! I would definitely return. Pros: Food, Service, Decor Cons: Difficult reservation more

Watch out for the ¨staff¨ 2/25/2005

I really didnt have problem with the hostess it was more of the pretentious waiter, he tried really hard to sound sophisticated and well reversed with the foodies lingo, but sounded more like a clown at a circus. When it was time for our dessert someone else took our order, and when I asked if I could substitute sorbet instead of ice cream as the menu said, the incompetent waiter just said ?NO! We cant do that?, hoping our waiter would come and maybe change this. We watch him talk with the other waiter and didnt approach our table to fix this. It seems everything is great except for the staff of this place more

They need to get rid of the hostess 2/24/2005

I agree with the other reviewers about the hostess. She was rude when we came in to inquire about getting a table without a reservation. It was a Wednesday night, so we thought it was worth a shot, but she was very snobby about it. She never offered up the bar as an option, as there was no wait there and they served a full menu (this we learned the next day). Food, atmosphere and prices are very good, but that first impression at the desk left us cold. Pros: Food, Value, Atmosphere Cons: Hostess more

Hostess does not have the Mostess! 2/23/2005

We went there for drinks and appetizers. Upon arriving to the restaurant the hostess was extremely unfriendly. We asked if she could squeeze in 2 people for dinner. She was rude, unpleasant and told us that we HAD to have reservations. I asked if they had any availabilty for the following Saturday...she said NO and didn't even bother to ask if we could come in another day. It also seemed like a major task for her to tell me where the bathroom was! Other than the encounter with the hostess, the drinks and appetizers were good. Cons: Hostess, Hostess, Hostess more

If it hadn't been for the hostess........ 2/15/2005

Hostess was extremely rude and curt, never once looking up from her list of ""reservations."" Apparently a reservation here does not mean you actually get to ""reserve"" the table, we were sent to the bar for 20 minutes until a table became available. When we were finally sat, we were brought to a table that was not the booth we had requested 3 weeks prior. Other than the horrible first impression, food was pretty good and the wine list even better! more

Come on... 2/11/2005

The hostess was snooty and rude. Our 8:00 rspv sent us to the bar for almost an hour. The bartender ran off to smoke between customers. When we were finally seated, we were made to feel rushed & hurried. Cuold we just place the order ASAP so the kitchen can close? Hmmmm.... really welcome feeling! Trying to order courses & enjoy the ""hype"". Come on now. Should I stay or should I go? Myth is just that, a Myth. It'll burn out , fade away with time. The bar was our last stop for dessert, the kitchen was almost closed, and the bartender, once again, ran away for a smoke. How professional. Thanks (not) for treating us 1st! Pros: Beautiful, Warm, Homey Cons: SLOW, Rushed, Rude more

No myth, this place is amazing! 2/1/2005

My husband and i dined at myth last weekend and it was nothing short of sublime. The food was innovative and delicious-- beef cheeks to die for; the service was helpful and very attentive... just a great place. Good luck to you guys! more

A Feast for the Palate and the Eyes 1/27/2005

Food is delicious, service is impeccable. The best new restaurant in SF in years. The decor is fabulous, very cozy and inviting. Great for a large group or for an intimate dinner for two. I cannot wait until they open for lunch! Pros: Food, Decor, Service Cons: Parking more

Great! 1/25/2005

After reading that the exec chef was of prior Gary Danko fame, I was expecting all the flare. All my expectations were met. Service is gracious and friendly. The open kitchen view is exciting. Ate every bit of my sweetbread salad and every morsel of my steak frite. Jasmin tea was a soothing, comforting finish. I definately will be back. Pros: service, food, flare more

Great Place! 1/17/2005

This restaurant is great! The food was so good that everyone at my table was sharing off of each others plates, because we all wanted to taste what the chef could do! Not one person was dissappointed! The whole table was silent until our plates were cleared, because we couldn't be bothered with eating. The staff was really nice (No snobs in this restaurant)! I would recommend this to everyone!! Pros: Food, Staff, Atmosphere more

Great Experience! 11/30/2004

I had dinner with 6 other friends at the chef's table and it was a great experience! The service was excellent, the food incredible, and the wine selection was fabulous! Most amazing was the prices! They could definitely get away with charging more but I'm glad they're not! I would highly recommend everyone try this place out! Pros: Reasonable prices, Good food more

Feast for the eyes and palate 11/4/2004

Other than the waiter not knowing the finer details of the menu, our dining experience was wonderful. The food was excellent. The interior design is simple, warm and sumptuous. The staff extremely friendly, helpful and unpretentious. Prices are very reasonable. This restaurant succeeds at being a great destination for any occasion, whether it be after work drinks or a refined dinner with a date. Can hardly wait to go back. Pros: Food and Wine, Friendly Staff, Interior Design more

San Francisco Classic 11/2/2004

This is a great new restaurant. It has all the elements I look for in a place to dine: great food, beautiful atmosphere, reasonable food prices, excellent wines some at very reasonable prices. I would go here after work in my jeans and dine at the bar or get dressed up and take my wife out for a fine dining experience. Its also a good spot for a party of 8 or 10 at the chef's table or a group of 20 in the banquet room. This place will be popular 10 years from now. Pros: food, wine, interior design Cons: , not enough tables, no lunch more
