Hair in Food 3/26/2008

Found a blonde hair in my food (mine is black). Not expected from any restaurant, let alone a ""high end"" restaurant. Food wasn't good enough to justify us going back. more

a pleasant evening 11/12/2007

A beautiful restaurant, very nicely designed, and we've always liked the service. We have noticed a bit of a falling off on the food, however, particularly (during each of our last couple of visits), the hamburger, which used to be much better. Prices for food and wine are outstanding. more

Best San Francisco Chef 8/23/2007

I made my reservation for a party of 6 over a month ago and it was worth the wait. The staff is courteous and knows the menu. more

An amazingly average - at best - restaurant (eat before you go) 8/21/2007

Our party of 7 had very good service (the Hostess was a cold fish, but passable), unlike others - I had been warned the service was not good. That wasn't our experience. Pros: nice looking place Cons: relatively tasteless food in tiny , tiny portions more

It's True.. It is a Myth 4/29/2007

So for all the local buzz about how unbelievable Myth is, well, I discovered over the weekend that such talk is mythical. the food was good, but nothing to rave about. The peeky toe crab salad was uninspiring, the oysters were described by the waitstaff as being special only for the sauce and the asparagus salad good. On the entree front, the quail stuffed with cornbread were a disappointment; the corn bread was a overly moist blob with nothing but a heavy starchy flavor. The scallops were quite good as was the wine list. Waitstaff needs help; they try and clear meals too quickly... for example, when you are not finished eating! more

A+ 2/26/2007

Loved this place! I finally got to try it out this past weekend and it definitely did not disappoint! From my rock shrimp poke, to the seared scallops with pureed potatoes, to my chocolate cake with bananas, macadamia nuts and vanilla ice cream! Everything was delicious! I also loved the atmosphere, the decor...and the servers/waiters were pretty attentive. We had 3 different people coming up to us asking if how things were. Our main waiter kind of disappeared for a few minutes there towards the end, but overall it was a great dinner/night out. Pros: The food, the decor, the service. Cons: None that I can think of. more

Great Atmosphere and Food 1/12/2007

Myth is really unique and a great place to eat with friends or a date. The food was outstanding. The atmosphere was very upbeat. Pros: Food more

What a place 1/3/2007

Myth is a must when visiting San Francisco. Words cannot describe how wonderful our evening was. The food was incredible and the service was great. I have only heard from friend how great the food is at Myth and now I am a true believer. Pros: Service, food, drinks more

Great atmosphere and food 12/25/2006

I enjoyed my evening at Myth. Bar and lounge area is one to see and be seen. The service was wonderful, and the food was delicious. A great vibe and sleek contemporary decor. My friends and I enjoyed it very much and will definitely be going back. Plan to make reservations a couple of months in advance! more

The service is truly bad! 12/20/2006

Food: no complaints. The scallops were delicious, steak with frites satisfying, cinnamon creme brulee rich and creamy (if a tad over brulee-ed). But the service at this restaurant, especially considering how hard it is to get into and how loud the buzz is, is truly awful. We sat for 10 minutes before our waiter took our cocktail order (and we had to prompt him). Then the wine we ordered, they didn't have. Although the wine director was very apologetic and made some great alternate recommendations, including a Chateau Lascombes by the 1/2 bottle which was delicious, when I asked for the list again because one of our friends wanted to switch from Bordeaux to California cabernet, we never saw him again. It was as if we'd offended him by not ooo-ing and ah-ing enough over the Lascombe. The wait staff hangs out by the open kitchen talking and laughing ... how nice for them! This, with a host of other mess ups, is, well let's just say a disinsentive to ever going through the effort I had to go to, just to get a reservation -- and a 5:30 pm one at that. more

good food, god awful service 12/11/2006

Yes, the food is to-die-for. Seriously. And they have a $25-dollar-a-bottle wine list. The decor is very New York and the bar stocks everything you could want to drink. However, the service itself will keep me from going back. We had reservations for 9pm on a Friday. We were sat at 9:30. Our Screech-look-alike waiter didn't know much about wine or the food and rarely troubled himself to stop by. (Mind you, we didn't order off the $25 dollar list, we had two expensive bottles for four people) Our appetizers stopped by around 10 and our food 45 minutes later. Who knows, maybe it was the rain - I'm not going back. There are too many other fantastic restaurants in SF with better-than-Myth service to waste my time. Pros: food, bar, wine list Cons: wait staff, service in general more

Incredible wine list, beautiful decor. 11/16/2006

The atmosphere is modern, spacious, and comfortable. The wood and stone make for a clean yet warm sensation. The food is suprisingly good to a girl who has never preferred french food. Find sweetbreads and truffle pasta that are delicious. Paired with a couple of stunningly good wines, and you're in for a memorable meal. Pros: very helpful and gracious staff Cons: a little loud more

I now see why it's difficult to get reservations.... 10/27/2006

I now see why its difficult to get reservations. To star off, the food is fabulous we had a hard time trying to describe what style it really. The closest we could make out was refined rustic fare. The prices were extremely reasonable for this caliber of a restaurant as is the wine list. Pros: Food, service, wine Cons: ease of reservations more

I don't really get it about getting the reservation for this restaurant. It would take you month to get one. The hostress is really nice but the services in dining feel to rush and that feel uncomfortable. Food was not all that. You could find the same kind of food and much better flavor elsewhere. ""Oysters wasn't that fresh"" more

An evil hostess! 9/13/2006

Unfortunately, Myth is a little confused about how to take reservations. On Opentable, they allow their customers to make reservations for 9:30, but then call to attempt to change the reservation so that they may close their kitchen early. I made a reservation online for 9:30 on a Tuesday night. The reservationist then called me later in the day to inform me that a table had opened up at 9, and if I wanted to come in early, it would be fine. I, however, thought it would be difficult to get there by 9, and asked if it was okay that we come in at 9:30. She, of course, agreed. This was not the case. The reservationist then actually CHANGED the reservation to 9 without telling me. When I arrived at the restaurant at 9:30, the hostess - the EVIL hostess - informed me that the kitched had closed at 9:30, and we would not be able to dine. I was confused as to how one could make a reservation for 9:30, but would then have to order in a matter of minutes because the kitchen would close on them?? This is no way to run a restaurant. In fact, as I write this review, I notice that Citysearch lists the restaurant hours as 5:30 to 10! This restaurant needs to get their heads out of their rears and figure things out. It doesn't matter how good your food is, or how pretty your diningroom if you can't get through the door to sit down. Pros: Not sure Cons: The EVIL Hostess, and bad reservation taking... more

Try the foie gras pasta 9/2/2006

My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised by Myth. The food was exceptional and the space is lovely. The service was fine - nice, but not knowledgable. This is, however, not a reason to miss Myth. Service in this town is a total toss-up. more
