EXcellent service!!!! 12/9/2010

My car was towed by AAA in Brooklyn and taken to a shady car mechanic shop on Atlantic Ave, Cobble Hill Mechanic. I was told that the alternator and battery need to be replaced, and would cost about $550. I searched for mechanic shops in Brooklyn, and called around for prices. Seemed like I should pay about $275 for the alternator and labor, and an extra $100 for the battery. I happened to call Mitchell's, and he was so nice to me on the phone -- spoke to me for 20-25 mins, explaining how it seemed less likely that the alternator was broken (no red light came on on my dash board, wasnt while I was driving etc. etc). Told me that if I didnt want to stay with that mechanic, I could ask them to ""not touch the car"" (and break things on purpose) and to have it towed. He didnt even care if I wasnt coming to him. I had it towed, I took it to him and the alternator WAS OK. Battery needed changing, and I paid $120 instead of $550. I love Mitchell's mechanic shop. NEVER go to Cobble Hill with AAA. more

Great service, great price A++++ 7/8/2010

Same day service with a detailed explanation of the work being done. I'm on a tight budget and there were several things wrong with my car. He was able to prioritize what needed to be done ASAP and what could wait if need be. All the prices were fair and the bill was exactly as discussed. Mitchell was very patient with my questions and was obvious he cares a great deal about his business and that the customer walks away satisified. Thanks so much! Pros: excellent communication more

An Honest Mechanic Grows In Brooklyn 5/30/2010

I had a beat up '96 Saturn. Mitchell's was happy to service the car, not even caring that my beater was parked next to some kind of race car that must cost a small fortune. Anyway, I've been going to his shop for a year now, and he's never ever ever charged me for anything I didn't absolutely need. He actually tells me how long I have left on parts. Rather than just sell me new brake pads, he tells me I have another 1 or 2 thousand miles on em. Rather than tell me I need a new Transmission, he tells me it's a leak, and even cleaned off the engine from all the leak sealant I had put in. Total cost was under $50, if I recall. Saved my life. It's like that with every repair I've ever brought them. My maintenance costs have gone way down. He could have told me anything, sold me anything,I wouldn't have know better - but I guess he knows return business is where it's at. So, I just sold my Saturn and bought a GMC Minibus (diesel) and I need to give him a call and see if he works on diesels... hope so... Pros: Good & Honest Cons: Almost too inespensive ; ) more

Never a problem 5/16/2010

I take my Camry here regularly for service, and I've never had a complaint. Mitchell keeps things up to date, explains what happens, and what he has done. Sometimes in any business like this, the mechanic is going to find an unexpected issue, but after taking the car here over 6 or so times, this has only happened once, and it sounded reasonable. Pros: Consistent, honest, and reliable more

You get what you pay for - not a lot. 4/15/2010

First, Mitchell is a perfectly nice guy. Seems knowledgable and is generally pleasant. \r \r However, if you would like your car fixed correctly and fixed the first time, beware.\r \r I had Mitchell put a new windshield in my classic Porsche 911. Not only did it look like a mess when returned, but it leaked from both lower corners. I brought it back a week later, pointed out the two areas where it wasn't sealed, and asked him to fix it. When I picked up the car a few days later -- having been told it was fixed -- surprise surprise - same leak, same place. I'm guessing they decided to not even look at the car. So now, after paying Mitchell $500 in labor to install the windshield, I have had to pay another mechanic $800 to clean out the mess and reinstall.\r \r As if that wasn't enough, I also had Mitchell fix the power locks -- which were not working properly. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that the same problem arose 2 months after he ""fixed it"".\r \r If you want a cheap oil change, go to Mitchell. If you want something done correctly - and done correctly the first time - go somewhere else. Pros: Cheap, Nice guy Cons: Poor workmanship, Will need to return often for same issue more

As I drove my truck home from the shop and it ran perfect I got to thinking about all the times before I have been cheated. I think my experience at this shop is best summed up by making a list:\r P.S. I was thinking since this shop had so many positive comments that they were just friends/family. I can assure you that all his testimonials are legit! (Email me if you want to talk about my experience)\r 1. Same day service, even on my complex repair job!\r 2. Saved me at least $500 dollars; Low price - great work.\r 3. THEY COMPLETELY CLEANED UNDER MY HOOD & POLISHED THE SURFACES AFTER THE REPAIR!!!!\r 4. The shop is close to 2 subway lines and the bus.\r 5. The owner greets you, walks you to your car, and is very friendly.\r 6. A small, local, easy access shop. NOT RUSHED IN & OUT!\r 7. They didn't leave oil and dirt on steering wheel, mats, handles.\r 8. VERY HONEST OWNER & EMPLOYEES!\r 9. No personal items were stolen or touched in my vehicle.\r 10. A Manhattan repair shop at a Brooklyn price!\r I will add more to this list as I think of them - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Pros: Best Mechanic I have ever used - from Florida to NYC Cons: NO COMPLAINTS HERE! more

Thanks to Mitchell 2/8/2010

My car was really damage from an accident that the repair cost over $2500. Mitchel was the only mechanic that can help me get the estimation on the phone/fax, since my car is not drivable and i`ve had a bad experience with other mechanic before so i was really careful choosing the right shop. I`m really glad that i`ve found Mitchell, he gave me the best deal, i know for sure he was busy, and with all of those work, my car was done within 5 days... amazing! Thanks again Mitchell, i will definitely doing business with you again. Pros: good service + good price more

Search no more 12/25/2009

I needed a driver's side view mirror and the dealer quoted me $150 for the part and told me it would be manual because they don't make electric mirrors any more and another $150 or so for labor. After reading these reviews I called Mitchel and he quoted me $90 for the whole thing. Not only that, he ordered it before I arrived so by the time I went there (two days later and on Christmas eve) he was able to do it while I waited. I couldn't have been happier or more pleasantly surprised to drive away within a half an hour from when I got there. I feel I can finally trust a car professional! Thanks Mitchell. Pros: Honest, curteous, friendly more
