I'm so glad I found a reliable mechanic that I know will do great work on my car and also take the time to inform me of everything that has been worked on or needs work without trying to up-sell me at all. Mitchell came highly recommended by my work colleagues. I had a reoccurring noise issue that couldn't be resolved by three different auto mechanics. I was at my wit's end. He took the time and patience to test drive my car with me and discuss various possibilities for the aggravating noise. I left my car with Mitchell. He called two hours later, explaining the problem was resolved! The price was extremely reasonable and I was able to drive my car that very day without that noise! I've been to many repair shops over the last few months trying to resolve a noise concern with my Jeep Liberty. Finally I walked into Mitchell's shop and after talking to him and going on a test drive with him I was confident that he would be the one to fix my truck. I got a call from him just a few hours later telling me what was wrong. I gave him the ok to fix it. And sure enough the noise went away. Anyone who has ever owned a car knows how important it is to take care of it, so it takes care of you. Unfortunately sometimes we let things go for too long and wind up having more than one issue to deal with. \r That was my case, but I thank G-d for leading me to Mitchell's Auto Repair. Mitchell took the time to explain what was happening with my car and why with patience and genuine concern. \r I've been driving around with a ""check engine"" light for over a year and 3 different mechanics couldn't figure out what the problem was. Hello Everyone,\r \r I am writing in again to express my extreme appreciation for Mitchell's Auto Repair!\r \r On October 14th, I took the 1990 Toyota Camry for an oil change and to replace the broken front passenger side interior door handle. I arrived after 3:00 and Mr. Mitchell and his talented crew had me back on the road in about forty minutes. I first heard word of Mitchell's shop not long after I bought a 40 year old Ford van. I was checking out a gas leak coming from the tank when a couple came up to me sharing their enthusiasm for old ""boxes on wheels."" They recommended Mitchell from their personal experience with him over the years.\r \r I called him up and he was kind enough to take the time to explain all the possible issues causing the leak, before even seeing the van. I drove down to the shop to have him check it out and have an all-around look at the vehicle. He was very welcoming, took the van for a test drive with me, then had me take a look at the underside with him once it was up on the lift. He found the cause of the leak immediately, then went over the rest of the van with me.\r \r I had requested a general tune-up, but he was very straightforward and honest, tuning and adjusting only what was necessary, saving me a chunk of cash.\r \r Mitchell is incredibly knowledgable and explained a number of quirks I would have been clueless about on a 40-year old vehicle. I've owed this guy a review for the longest time. Found hime when i google ""best mechanics in brooklyn"" Easily the best mechanic in Brooklyn and he never even touched my car. Here's what I mean, brought my car there to ask him a few questions, he offered to put it on the lift for free and tell me what needed to be replaced that he could see. This guy ended up saving me a ton of money and headaches as all the problems I thought were wrong with the car wasn't even the worst of what was wrong. And he did all of that for FREE, left his mechanic a pretty decent tip for looking at the car and telling me everything that he saw. Mitchell didn't BS me like other mechanics have, didn't offer to ""fix"" anything that didn't need fixing. Such an honest and personable guy i suggest everyone take their car here for work. He's the epitome of customer service! Came in for a problem I thought was major and he told me the worst tht could happen which honestly was just a CEL, instead of having me to fork over 1k+ in repairs he advised that itd be cheaper just to live with the light. How many mechanics tell you the honest truth while you dangle money in their face? Such an honest individual.\r \r P.S. I called Mitchell on a Sunday night and he called me back on a Sunday night! Firstly, that is rare and incredible. On Monday morning I brought my car in and within minutes, Mitchell pinpointed the problem with my car. It was a minor issue and he fixed it right then and there. I was in and out in about 35 minutes and had some great conversation to boot. I have found my mechanic for my Honda and will always go back. more

Mitchell also recommended a guy across the street to paint over three separate key marks on my car ""where do you live, in a war zone?"" he asked, ""Manhattan"" I said. Mitchell's Auto Repair, Brooklyn, NY REVIEW Diogenes -- look no further. We found an honest, intelligent, communicative and experienced auto repair person in Mitchell Zelner of Mitchell's Auto Repair in Brooklyn. After reading an article about his work in the NY Times we thought it would be worth the trip from Manhattan. Our old Suburu had engine problems that no other mechanic could diagnose properly; we also had a slipping transmission. The attention Mitchell gave to examining the car was exceptional. He did it with us, putting it up on the lift, showing us what he was checking, and the problems he had found. Then he took the car for a test drive with us. He gave us a detailed estimate for the work required on the engine, and then suggested we have the transmission checked out at Globe Transmission across the street first. Because, if the transmission were too expensive, we might not want to invest further in the car. This was indeed the case. So we did not have any work done and Mitchell did not charge us anything. There are plenty of shops near where I live but none my neighbors would recommend. I've never used citysearch for anything mechanical because i prefer word of mouth but I had neglected to get a tune up on my 2001 ford explorer sport for some time and was planning a trip to Maine, so I took a chance on what the reviewers were saying. I don't drive much but when I did I noticed the car was using quite a bit of gas, didn't have the power I remembered and if i hit a pothole or bump the car would lose stability, jerking the steering. Not good for a semi-long drive. I made an appt with Mitchell and brought the car in. He was straight forward, honest and took care of the stability problem, front left ball joint. All the parts were kept so I could see them, He didn't try and sell me ANYTHING I didn't need, the price was very reasonable, and most importantly-the car ran fantastic! He earns his rating.
