? These people hound you to the ends of the earth! They have no phone manners what-so-ever, are rude and demeaning. They threaten you with ""legal action"", yet are unwilling to work with you in resolving an issue. I was contacted for a debt that was dismissed in court almost 4 years ago. Then they add their own collection fees to the amount you supposedly owe, say they'll settle for half (if you pay immediately, if not, you end up paying the entire amount) but don't work out payments for you. If they really wanted the money, they would be willing to work with you in getting it paid, no matter what. To make matters worse, these accounts are ones they purchased for pennies on the dollar. According to my credit report, the original company has written it off, and I have just recently got a line of credit from them for almost $18,000! So who really wants the money? Where is it really going? When I went to court 4 years ago, I didn't dispute A debt, I disputed the AMOUNT and the agency at that time didn't show back up, so it was dismissed. And I say let them take me to court again, because I will still fight the amount. If they were decent about it, then no problem...but try to strong arm me...I don't think so. Bad things happen to good people. It's not like most people don't want to pay their bills, it's just that LIFE happens. (I was paying this account and in 2 years time, we lost 2 homes, 1 to a fire and 1 to a tornado and 1 month after the tornado, my husband was hosp. at UVA for Acute Resp. Distress Syn. and needed 6 months of rehab when he came home 25 days later), so yeah, I got behind on the payments. Be a little more sympathetic and willing to work out an arrangement. If you want YOUR money that bad, you would be willing to take what you can get WHEN you can get it.
Pros: None that I've seen.
Cons: Rude, demeaning, unwilling to work with you, demanding
