Such kindness 8/26/2022

It’s impossible to describe the genuine compassion and caring that the staff have shown my brother in law and all of us in the family. One night, he was anxious and restless. I was there, and I saw a nurse, John, sit and hold his hand and talk to him for a long time until he was calm and resting. The nurse was there past the end of his shift and said he wasn’t going to leave until my brother in law was ok. A week prior to that, there had been a family meeting where members of his team explained his condition and prognosis. Andrea, the wound care nurse, explained how all the pieces of his medical condition put together created the situation that he couldn’t recover from. His daughters were able to talk to him about this and he made the decision to stop care. Dr. Munshi was so thorough and kind in explaining end of life issues. Trisha provided his wife and daughters the emotional support they needed. Dr. Munshi, Andrea, and Trisha were with us the day he passed, helping to ensure this was a peaceful experience for him and all of us. We can’t express just how much all of this meant to us. Kindred has some very special people working there. more

short and sweet 8/26/2022

I have only been here a short time. I must say that the respiratory therapists did a great job of helping me get my oxygen need down enough for me to go home. The doctor has helped me understand why I have trouble breathing. The nurses have been good, and the therapy staff. I would recommend this hospital to anyone with breathing problems. more

Gratitude 6/8/2022

I am just now starting to be able to think straight. I almost died. I don’t remember coming here. They tell me I was in bad shape and on a ventilator. I’m not on a breathing machine now and no trach. I have been really really confused and missing my wife. The staff have been very patient with me and so supportive. I am amazed by everything they have done for me, including figuring out how to get me back home. I can’t express my gratitude enough to everyone here. more

I’m impressed 6/8/2022

I have been here every day to support my friend. I am a home health care worker and I have known her for years. I spent time with her in the facility before this one and now. I am truly impressed with the staff here at Kindred. They are kind, and knowledgeable and eager to help. I know what to pay attention to regarding her care and the staff here do an excellent job of caring for her. I absolutely would recommend Kindred South more

I Wish I Could Stay Here 6/8/2022

The contrast between this hospital and the facility I was in before here is dramatic. I did not feel safe in the previous place and here I feel safe and genuinely cared for. The staff are are so friendly and eager to help. If there is a problem, it is noticed and taken care of. Everyone from the CEO to the nurses aids have checked on me and made me feel important. They have helped me get strong enough to go to acute rehab and then finally I will be able to go home. I can NOT thank these people at Kindred enough for what they do. more

This is a great hospital 5/13/2022

You guys did an excellent job of taking care of me. Everyone was so kind and nice, calling me “sweetie” and “honey.” I really felt cared for. I didn’t meet a crabby person here. People smiled at me, I could tell even though they had masks on, and talked to me. I’ve had a great experience here. This is a great hospital. more

From Day One 5/13/2022

On behalf of our beloved, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the healthcare professionals that participated in the recent care of our loved one. We were initially concerned about the care she would receive, however, from day one and the days that followed, her care was provided with excellence, compassion and always within a timely manner. The staff was very accommodating to the family’s needs and requests. A special thank you to Dr. Munshi who provided excellent care of our loved one. He provided a holistic approach to her care by also caring for her family. He took the time to talk with us in detail, he was compassionate, and understanding. If ever the opportunity arises, we would certainly highly recommend Kindred Hospital St. Louis South. more

Miracles 5/4/2022

This hospital has made a miracle happen with my husband. We thought he was going to die. Our kids came from college to see him. There seemed to be no real hope of him being able to wean off the ventilator. Covid had really done a lot of damage. But with a LOT of encouragement and incredible care from all the staff, he turned a corner and started coming back to us. He was so discouraged and unmotivated to do therapy, but the staff helped him emotionally as well as physically and he started working in his therapy. Now, he is off the vent, not on oxygen, decanulated, eating, standing, taking steps, and he’s back to himself mentally and emotionally. He is ready to leave and go on to Rehab where he can get strong enough to go home. I can’t describe the level of personal caring and compassion he and I have received from this special hospital. I most definitely would recommend it. more

Great staff 5/4/2022

This hospital has done such an amazing job of taking care of my husband. He was in really bad shape when he got here, on a vent, agitated, not coherent. Now, he is off the vent, decanulated, and more alert and responsive. He is out of restraints. I have a physical condition that has kept me from being able to visit as often as I would have liked. But I trusted this staff. They kept me informed. Other family members went to see him and always felt like he was getting great care. He’s ready to go on for rehab now. It’s really unbelievable. I can’t thank this hospital enough for what they have done for him. more

Tell all the staff thank you for me! If I ever needed this sort of a place in the future, I would definitely come back here. You guys have worked together and made the pieces come together smoothly so I could get better. I’ve come a long long way since I got here. I can’t say that any one person went above and beyond because ALL the staff did that for me. I’ve had fun with people here, too. I would absolutely recommend this hospital. more

This place hasn’t been as stressful as I thought it would be. Actually, it hasn’t been stressful at all. I guess that’s because people have been so nice to me.. I give them an A+, only because there is nothing higher! more

Competent and caring 3/30/2022

Everyone we met went above and beyond what we have gotten at any other hospital. All are competent, knowledgeable, caring, aware and are on a problem immediately. Anyone I meet is caring and friendly, giving a smile, a few words and hugs. They make sure I’m ok. And I love it when the staff go down the hall singing. I would definitely recommend this hospital. more

You carried me through 3/29/2022

Coming back from Covid has been unlike any other challenge in my life. I had some experiences I had never had. At one point, I lost hope and started to give up. But the staff here rode those dark days with me and carried me through when I just couldn’t. I came in here not able to talk or think or move, completely dependent on a ventilator to breath. Now I am breathing on my own, starting to eat and drink again, and able to move and do some rehab. I can’t thank you enough. more

You guys have done an excellent job taking care of me. Every single person has been kind and done more for me than I would expect, and that includes nurses, aids, doctors, rehab, housekeeping, dietary, and administration. I’ve been here a pretty long time and it has been consistently excellent. I would definitely recommend this hospital. more

Excellent 2/14/2022

I would recommend this hospital because I was treated fairly and because the quality of care was exceptional for what I needed. When I got here, they showed me a picture of my wound and it looked like a chunk of raw meat. It was bad. The wound care team definitely knew what they were doing. The wound has healed a great deal, enough for me to be able to sit up and finally go on to rehab. I can’t thank them enough. more

Attentive staff 2/14/2022

I would recommend this hospital because the staff are attentive. The nurses answered my questions and responded when my brother’s call light was on. The doctors were very good. The hospital is clean every time I come visit. The staff helped my brother make progress. I appreciate them for his care. more
