Best

I'm a big thai fan, and I love curry, especially the yellow or massamune kind. This place has a nice atmosphere, decent service, and did I mention the curry? There's plenty to fil...

Worst

the food was subpar, the mangos and salad were by no means fresh at all definitely thumbs down :(

terrible customer service 3/20/2008

I have been to joya a few times. The only thing that draws me back is the fact that the lights are dim and that isn't saying much.. The food is ok, the rice is normally hard though, and the calamari has absolutely no flavor, they just fry it. The worst part of the restaurant however is the service. There is no place to stand and way, the VERY RUDE, POMPUS host (you'd think joya is a 5 star restaurant with the level of arrogance in this guy) is not helpful at all. He has an attitude when you stand too close to him and he doubles as the manager. One day I was there and I got the wrong meal three times.. One of the wrong dishes was sent back because (u can see the grill from most of the seats) the waitress gave the food back to the cooks and they hand picked the carrots out (i did not want carrots) and rearranged it and tried to serve it to me again. So i requested the manager and he never came to my table. The waitress had an attitude with me because she made a mistake. In short, the restaurant is entirely too small for the crowd, a lot of the food has no taste and the service is TERRIBLE. Please do not waste your time or your money there. Pros: it is cheap Cons: you get what you pay for, it is cheap so everything else is terrible more

Great food for reasonable price 2/26/2008

They have great food and service. The mussels are great, the curry (red/green etc) are phenomenal - they can alter to your taste and mango salad is healthy. It starts to get crowded after 6:30p, so if u have a large group try to arrive early. It also gets noisy, esp. when the dj starts to play his weird songs. But ur their for the food. worth going and bringing the family.\r Pros: Great food and Service Cons: Too loud after 6:30p and parking becomes mayhem more

really good food for the money, but WAY TOO LOUD 1/16/2008

""while i would eat here every day if i could, because the food is good and cheap, it's really impossible to have a relaxing dinner and conversation at this place. it's a cross between grand central station & SOB's nightclub. i highly recommend eating there in the summer when you can sit in the backyard and not be subject to DJ music while you dine. please join me in suggesting that they TURN DOWN THE MUSIC!"" Pros: good cheap food Cons: DJ'ed music with dinner?? what are they thinking.. more

Inconsistent 11/28/2007

Although it's hard to argue with the ultracheap prices, I wish the food quality was a little more consistent. In the earlier part of the week, it seems to be a different (and worse) chef than on the weekends. Unfortunately, it's always so crowded on the weekends that early in the week is the best time to go. Still, if you can get in on a good night, the food is tasty without being anything extraordinary. Dishes could be a bit spicier overall. The nice, cheap wine list is a plus. more

Best vibe, Best food, Best prices, Nicest People - GREAT ALONE and in GROUPS! 9/26/2007

Awesome find - so amazing to have great food and friendly people whether eating alone at the bar, dating, special occasion dining or group celebration partying! SO reasonable, shame they only take cash but go to an ATM and get over there! Pros: food, people, prices, drinks, drink prices, kitchen open late, dj's on weekends!! Cons: cash only, F&G trains only more

Best place in Brookyln. 8/3/2007

My boyfriend and I are regulars here...we just love it. The atmosphere is great, the bartenders are awesome and most of all the food is DELICIOUS. We eat out alot and to pretty expensive restaurants that serve great food, and we still always find our selves returning to Joya as well as there other restaurant Song. I personally recommmed this place to everyone who loves great food a reasonable prices.. to good to be true.. oh did i mention there drinks are fabulous. Oh how can i forget the owners are wonderful and treat everyone like they are family. more

Fantastic food/great prices 6/26/2007

My husband and I just love to eat here. The food is hot, fresh and service fast. Sometimes though too fast. But Would recommend it anytime. Its worth the trip. Pros: Fresh food, fast service, cost a great value Cons: sometimes noisy more

Fantastic food/great prices 6/7/2007

Great food, Fresh, Hot and the price is reasonable. I use to work close by and after work my husband would meet me and we would both go there. I no longer work in the neighborhood and we still go there from home in Staten Island. We think its worth the trip. A must try for all. Pros: fresh food, price great, fast service Cons: Sometimes noisy, When busy feel rushed more

mad crowded, sweet food, great space 5/23/2007

Everyone knows this place has great value so even on days which would not ordinarily be busy for dining out can become a hassle to get a table. The food is copious as it is delicious. more

cheap & delicious: my favorite combo 2/27/2007

Great neighborhood place with tasty thai food. All the curries are delish. It can be a bit loud, though, and placing a takeout order can be annoying since there's a constant busy signal. Just keep hitting re-dial! Pros: inexpensive, quick delivery Cons: often a constant busy signal for takeout more

what make them hot??? 2/19/2007

i dont know why people keep saying they have the best food? they might have a good atmosphere but definitely not the food. :( i have been there 3 times in the past 2 months, because people keep telling me they are good, so i keep trying them to see if i am missing something, but unfortunately, it keep disappointing me for the 3 experiences i have had. it is a kids' place, food is cheap, but ain't that good, for those people they have been eating thai food for ages, u would definitely tell the different. it is more a hangout spot more than a dining spot. i have tried a numeric thai places in brooklyn, but i have to say they have the worst food. Pros: full bar, cheap eat more

Love it!! 1/29/2007

The food here is very good, underpriced, too! The pad thai is so yummy. I love that they deliver. The service is prompt, quick, maybe a bit rushed. If you don't eat fast enough the entrees are pushed onto the table while you're still eating appitizers! But they gotta hustle I guess, the place is always jumping. Oh, FYI, they only take cash. Pros: Food, ambiance, prices, delivery Cons: rushed service, cash only more

Awsome whenit first open 12/12/2006

This place was awsome when it open, I think about 5 years ago if my memoery serves me right. Food awsome. Now not too sure. The wait is too long and employee a now on the rude side. But business is good for them place in always crowded and at times they rush you. It would be great if they could expand so the staff is not over worked..which translate to bad attitudes. \r \r It's in a great neighborhood and if you don't want to wait there's always other restuarants to visit in the neighborhood. Brooklyn has a wjole lot to offer. Explore! Pros: Good food Cons: Long wait, staff looks stressed more

great Thai, great price 11/16/2006

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Brooklyn. Fresh, delicous, and inexpensive - what more could you ask for? more

Can't beat it 11/14/2006

Joya has great food, large quantities and can be counted on to be your cheapest meal of the week. I love the wine they serve. It's a fun atmosphere and the patio is great in summer. There's often a wait, but it's usually only about 15 minutes. more

Amazing thai food, unbeatable prices! 10/15/2006

As someone who ate thai food for the first time last night, Joya was amazing! The atmosphere of the place was very laidback and the service was great. Not only did the food come quickly, but it tasted sooooo good. The bar area was a great place to order a drink and wait for a table (about 20-30 minutes). I can now say that thai food is one of my favorites and it is all because of Joya. more

So tasty, so inexpensive 9/26/2006

Joya has some of the best food at some of the best prices in Brooklyn. It can get a little loud on the weekends when there's a DJ, but that is more than offset by the delicious food and good service. When it's warm, the back is open, which otherworldly from the hustle of Court Street. They also deliver! Pros: great food & great prices Cons: sometimes a little loud; don't deliver on Fridays more
