Best

I'm a big thai fan, and I love curry, especially the yellow or massamune kind. This place has a nice atmosphere, decent service, and did I mention the curry? There's plenty to fil...

Worst

the food was subpar, the mangos and salad were by no means fresh at all definitely thumbs down :(

THE BEST!!! 8/21/2006

Great cheap food! Fab atmosphere! Delicious cocktails! Wonderul staff! I recoment their sister restaraunt Song, in the Slope because they are a little less busy but same great food, atmosphere and cocktails. I go here every week and have never been disapointed! more

BEST THAI EVER 8/13/2006

I love Joya - this is the best Thai food I have ever had....the reason there is a loooong wait is BECAUSE the food is soooo good! Where else can you go to have great food, drink, enjoy a cool scene and spend about $20 or less (depends on how much you drink!). The only downside (in my opinion) is that it's cash only....so stop at the atm before you go!!! Pros: Good, cheap food, inexpensive big glasses of wine Cons: no credit cards more

Best Thai I have ever had! 7/21/2006

This place is great. It is inexpensive and the food and service are excellent. I have never had a bad meal here, and I am a regular. Pros: food, price Cons: space is loud, crowded more

Best Thai in Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens 7/10/2006

We have tried every Thai restaurant between Atlantic Avenue and 4th Streets, and Joya is the best. The freshest, best variety, and the fastest delivery. Also very inexpensive. A great choice at any cost and a great deal. Pros: Excellent food, fast delivery more

best thai i've ever had 6/21/2006

I don't know about you guys, but when I go somewhere to eat I go for the food not for the atmosphere. I'm just reading some of these reviews and its nonsense that people are reviewing some places because it was too loud. Please... are you saying that the food is bad but I'll go back there because the atmosphere was good. No you're going to go back because the food was good. So all I'm trying to say is this restaurant is by far the best thai food restaurant I've ever been to. The best Chicken pad tai, I've ever had. And forget what you read under me, the atmosphere isn't that bad either. more

AWFUL! 6/17/2006

I've been to Joya twice and I will never go again. Both times we waited well over a half hour for a table (even though we had reservations). It is LOUD, HOT and DARK. You can barely see who you are with never mind have a conversation. It takes forever to get a drink and they almost always forget to bring something (although they dont forget to charge you for it.\r I HATE HATE HATE this place. Cons: Dark, Loud, Slow Service more

The Best 6/15/2006

My favorite place to eat in Brooklyn. The food is fantastic and the prices are just as good. The only drawback: the place is LOUD! more

What happened to this place? 4/7/2006

Joya used to be a cool spot with decent food and a colorful - if not relaxed - atmosphere. Now it's so crowded and loud you can't even talk to the person next to you. And everytime I go there's a bunch of drunk idiots making a scene out front. Get it together. If I wanted to deal with a crappy scene and annoying customers I'd go out in Manhattan. Pros: Cheapish, Good music Cons: LOUD, Crowded, Hectic more

Good Thai - Terrible Staff 3/1/2006

This place does have great thai food at good prices. But their staff is incredibly obnoxious. Also, they swipe your plate away the minute you put your fork down, whether it's empty or not. I always feel hussled out, even if it's not jammed, which it almost always is. The wait is obscene, and the music is WAY too loud. It's impossible to talk to your dinner companions. Overall, it's not worth it. Pros: food, price Cons: staff, noisy, crowded more

best pad thai around 2/20/2006

all the food is fresh and delicious, but the shrimp pad thai is truely exceptional. as a starter, go with the tofu tod. this place is comfortable, with a great, lively atmosphere. these people just GET it. they focus on the things that really matter (the food!) and pass the savings on to you. Pros: great food, amazing prices Cons: long wait on weekends more

Best Thai food a LATINA person has ever tasted 2/15/2006

Great food, small atmosphere, great music, GREAT PRICE! I highly recommend it! more

Do you like salt? 11/22/2005

The prices may be reasonable at this very popular crowded place, but the food is SO salty I had to drink a quart of water afterwards. The dishes are not terribly interesting and the service is somewhat rude. Pros: inexpensive, fast delivery Cons: SALTY, RUDE SERVICE, CROWDED more

The best asian food in the area 11/18/2005

Every apsect of this restaurant is wonderful. The food is light, but filling and oh so tasty. The staff is attentive, pleasant & knowledgeable. This place gets packed & yet the people are friendly (unlike Soju). Go here for a fun time! Pros: food, staff, food more

A Must!!! 7/5/2005

Great value (food and beverages- very reasonable), location, nice back outdoor patio area, and DJ. Get their early or have patience... The place is not big. It will be worth the wait!!! Cash only!!! Pros: inexpensive, fast service, great food Cons: some what small, no credit cards more

not the best, but.. 6/19/2005

it's reeeally cheap. heaping portions of calamari, spicy squid salad, spare rib, etc.. all for $7 or less. crazy. fun atmosphere, it's trendy and the music is good.. but service was lacking and most of the dishes were eh. pad thai didn't taste right, mussels (according to my friends, i didn't have any) were bad, chicken was just ok.. the squid salad and ribs were good though. also, drinks were not strong (but i didn't mind so much). it's so inexpensive that i'll probably return though. more

the coolest place in the hood... 6/15/2005

very friendly service, the best dim sum, light and spicy. Pros: spicy food:), service more

Good choice for cheap, decent food. 4/7/2005

Not the best eating around, but you can get a pretty good meal for a pretty low price. We probably go there a few times a month. It's definitely a good value. more

Great Thai Option in the Neighborhood 3/11/2005

This is one of my favorite Thai places in the neighborhood, but don't go Friday or Saturday when it's ridiculously crowded. The spicy basil noodle dish is my favorite. They are willing to make dishes extra spicy here, too. more

longing... 3/8/2005

after trying several thai spots in manhattan and brooklyn by testing a staple such as toam yum.. two mushrooms in watered down sweet and sour sauce?? ack,, i found joya in brooklyn to be above and beyond other thai spot that ive tried in the area. while some dishes may suffice, many excel. my favorite dish being the spicy noodles. ... excuse me i have to stop this review because im salivating too much. if you dont like the atmosphere, get it to go. Pros: excellent flavors, well priced wine list, friendly service Cons: too popular more

Joya oh Boya! 3/30/2004

You can't beat the pricing this place offers for their Thai cuisine. They offer the basic standard Thai menu: Pad Thai noodles, curried meats, Thai iced tea and the like, and they do offer some Thai-fusion entrees as well. I have not tried all of their dishes yet, but the ones I have tasted are good. The staff is friendly and the decor is pleasant. There is a bar right by the door, which is convenient while waiting in the long lines for a seat and be prepared to wait on the weekends. Overall, the value is great and is worth the trip down to Brooklyn. Pros: Good Food, Inexpensive Cons: , No Reservations more
