Awesome atmosphere! 11/11/2011

I was very impressive with the location, it was not hard to find and the place is huge! I went to a gathering in the patio, it was on the coldest night possible but the staffs did a terrific job with the heat lamps. The bartenders were friendly and the price was not at all bad. more

Google Search Provided This Gem of a Restaurant 4/10/2011

Entering this restaurant you definitely feel welcome with the staff and to my surprise the place is enormous. Downstairs is a large dining area with lounge to the right and an enormous 10000 sq foot out door patio to the back that get very busy. My date and I ordered the prawn and salmon dishes and both were amazing. The staff was very attentive and made you feel welcome especially when the owner Sergio and executive chef , Ong (hope my memory serves me right on his name) came out to see how our food was and recommend his coffee desert which was just the right finish to our meal. On our way out we passed through the upstairs nightclub that was packed and if you're going for dinner as long as you order an entree they waive the cover charge to the club. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu or their Sunday brunch on the patio. more

wonderful wedding venue 10/16/2010

My daughter's wedding was recently celebrated at J's, and we had a wonderful experience. The staff was exceptionally hospitable, and went out of their way to ensure all the guests had a wonderful time. The chef even went out of his way to fix a bruised cake using coffee grinds! Very creative! more

J Lounge IS ONLY FOR ASIANS - Will DISCRIMINATE 5/3/2010

My friend was having her birthday in J lounge this past weekend. She had put on the guest list. When we arrived we waited in line outside of the lounge. We kind of noticed how everyone in line was either Asian or with an Asian. At the time my boyfriend and I didn’t think much of it, besides we were there to celebrate my friends 27th birthday and to have a good time. When we got to the bouncer he refused to let my boyfriend in, who by the way is Mexican, because of his shoes. \r \r Please note that he was wearing Dr. Martin’s. That’s total BULLSHIT! I saw a guy walk in there with converse. DON’T GO THIS PICE OF S**T PLACE. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME BECAUSE IT’S NOT WORTH IT. \r \r I even went online before going to this place to read for a dress code. There is no dress code on their website! WILL NEVER GO THERE EVER AGAIN!!! If you don’t look Asian or are with an Asian beware!\r \r I text my friend that night that they wouldn’t let us in and she will never have her birthday there ever again. \r Pros: Parking Cons: Wouldn't let us in cause of the non-existant dress code! more

One more thing to love about downtown 4/30/2010

As an adventurous USC student, I started venturing into downtown back in the day when nobody thought it was safe or cool. It has been getting even cooler by the nanosecond for the last decade. J Lounge is just one more thing to love about LA! Pros: Huge space good for parties more

Thieves and A-HOLE Manager 4/25/2010

An organization i am part of have a party there last Fri. Most of the people around the dance area were people I knew, so when a friend encouraged me to put my purse down near where we were dancing, I did. Not long after my purse was gone. I was frantic to try to find it quickly in hopes the thief hadn't left the bar yet. The bouncers and staff were unhelpful and seemed really annoyed by me when i told them what happened. Not long after my purse was found in the parking lot sans brand new Blackberry and credit card. The manager was completely unapologetic and was accusatory to me. He said, ""YOU left it in the parking lot"" to which I replied ""I (emphasis) did not leave it in the parking lot"" (btw, i parked on the street). Then he proceeded to scold me for bringing my purse into the club instead of leaving it my car! Yeah, that sounds like normal, practical behavior and sounds safe (sarcasm)! Blaming the victim for theft in your club is NOT a good way to spread positive word of mouth and to encourage repeat patronage. FAIL! Pros: friendly and competent bar staff and great music to dance to Cons: thieves and asshole manager more

Great place for a drink 1/8/2010

J Restaurant and Lounge is a great place to go for drinks, good food, plus they have a nice patio. Probably not the best place for a laid-back experience, but something to check out when you're looking for more of a fun night out. more

Not bad... 10/28/2009

Not a bad place, but they did screw up our reservation. We had a party of 30 for drinks, and they completely screwed it up, suddenly charging people. They ended up fixing it by refunding our money, giving us a larger reserved section, and comping us a bottle of champagne. Fun place, worth going to and trying it out. Pros: HUGE area, good music Cons: Management more

Nice Patio 10/6/2009

Nice Lounge area. 6/20/2009

Nice lounge/patio club indoors modern and well serviced. It felt like more of an Asian atmosphere (did not mind it) for those who are looking for that type of community and spot. overall i think it was nice and i had a great time. Pros: Great music Cons: Admission fee/ Drinks are high more

yep!! 3/27/2009

great family atmosphere. nice setting.... the ambiance really captures the experience. order, eat, enjoy... Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Terrible Terrible Terrible 3/16/2009

The food was honestly terrible. It felt like fine dining (setting-wise) with cafeteria style food being served. We started the night with the Fritto Misto platter... how hard is it to screw up tempura? They managed. The dinners in general were average at best. The saddest part of the night was the fact that there was not one other table on a Friday night around 9:00pm. Our server was excellent, the hostess friendly and the rest of the staff were both attractive and highly diligent. Too bad they don't have their own food working for them... Pros: Open Availability, Courteous and Diligent Servers Cons: the FOOD more

Best Bachelorette Party Ever! 2/23/2009

This is the best place for a Bachelorette Party--hands down! The bar is swanky and subdued--great lighting, great design features--a great place if you're not into the gaudy and annoying ""Hollywood"" bars that pepper the Sunset Strip. We opted for bottle service which was, in my opinion, the only way to go if you're with a large group. The music was great all night--a good mix with a little for everyone. The drinks were awesome (the Mango Mojito's were absolutely delicious). Our server, the bartenders, and the management helped make this one of the most enjoyable nights I've had out in L.A. Glad we made the trip downtown--it was well worth it! Pros: Valet, Ambience, Service, Drinks/Food, Music more

Friday Lunch 2/20/2009

They have $3 martinis at lunch! What can I say? Well, Ahi Tare Tare was very good. Risotto was OK. Not crowded at lunch on Friday so nice and private. The back patio is really nice. Have to try next time Pros: Food, Service Cons: Parking. Plenty of parking (across the street, etc.) but no valet more

Football will NEVER be the same! 2/4/2009

My friend wanted to go to brunch at a place I'd never been too... and now, will never forget. J's was out of the blue....I never saw it coming. Great, great, great! Okay, so we had some freakishly amazing omelettes and tried to find the bottom of our ""bottomless mimosas"". Safe to say..never happened. :) Our server Melissa never stopped pouring, how often does that happen... that you actually get ALL you can drink? Never.. except here at J's. \r But that's not the best part. So we had a Superbowl party to go to and kick back, relax, hang with or friends.....Never happened. We Never left. We called our friends and told them to get down here! It was twenty bucks! All you can eat and drink. One more time... twenty buck. \r Beer garden upstairs, Buffet of snack perfection, Beer pong tournament outside on the hugest patio ever! They were building projection screens through out the place so everyone could have a sweet view of the game. (even though I counted at least 5 plasmas) Go big or go home! \r The whole scene started to freak us out in a good way, why.. it was like we walked into J's personal Superbowl party and they couldn't be happier we stayed! Getting a drink from the bar was a breeze too. It was Superbowl sunday and the bar staff never looked away from the bar! How wierd is that! ( okay, well no one in the world was doing anything the last 10 minutes of the game, but if I wanted a drink I'm sure it would have happened.) \r Safe to say, Never expected this kind of fun at a bar. \r We'll be going this weekend to check things out ""club wise"" and let you know. \r As for Sundays' at J Lounge. \r We'll be there! Pros: Great people, great food, great price, Great place. Cons: Never knew! more
