Poor customer service and rude 3/25/2011

I was excited about trying Incontro as it’s in the neighborhood and Franklin does not have many mid range eateries. The customer service was awful. Our food took way too long to arrive, the wait staff was inattentive and when we asked to speak to the manager he could not have cared less about our concerns and said there was nothing he could do. He was somewhere between rude and indifferent. \r Very disappointing as the restaurant has a decent décor and feel when you first arrive. \r more

Customer Service 2/13/2011

Restaurant is good, However don't ever try to let the owner know of a problem because he doesn't want to hear from his customers. It's to bad because he has lost a good customer that lives across the street. Good Luck improving customer service by ignoring your patrons. more

Excellent Food & Service 7/21/2008

My wife and I dined at Incontro this past weekend. We made a reservation 6:30 and were pleasently surprised that we were able to be sat right away. Our server was exceptional. Very attentive and pleasent. \r We ordered the baked polenta for our appetizer which was outstanding. Our entree's were even better. My steak was perfectly done, a little salty, but very good. My wife ordered the Tuna. Again perfectly done. \r All and all a very enjoyable evening. We will definitely be returning and recommending this restaurant to our friends and family. Pros: Food & Service Cons: Noise level more

Should be called ""Incompetent-o"" 5/18/2008

The service here was so bad that after a while, it became amusing to watch this establishment's incompetence. The waitstaff was was rude and incompetent; drinks took 45 minutes to arrive, and we were prohibited from ordering from the bar. What the heck? I was carded three times for three drink orders, and we were not allowed to purchase drinks for anyone else in our party. The mandatory valet service was a ridiculous addition to night that ended up being focused around mocking this establishment's rude, incompetent and unclassy staff their overpriced menu. Never again will I go here, and I will actively tell others to not even give it a chance. Pros: Pool tables exist Cons: Idiotic prices, Incompetent staff, Rude and Elitist Attitudes (it's Franklin, for God's sake) more

Incontro Restaurant 3/29/2008

Wow, I thought I was the only one. I had reservations to there on my birthday. I arrived promptly at 8:00 pm\r to find no available parking anywhere. I called the restaurant an spoke with the manager. He said I could park across the street. I told him we had just had a snowstorm, and there were no sidewalks.\r \r He said what do want me do? I said tell the valet to take my car, and hold it until there is room.\r \r They couldn't do that. It was a terrible experience. I wrote a letter to the owner three months ago...no response. \r \r I will never go there. I tell everyone. more

It's true - terrible management, experienced it first-hand 3/28/2008

I have to echo the sentiments of several others that commented on TERRIBLE management!\r \r Just moved to Franklin and was thrilled that there seemed to be 2 trendy restaurants in town ('3' and Incontro). We were warned that Incontro service was questionable, but wanted to judge ourselves. 1st time, experience was mixed. Apps/salad were good, but didn't like our entrees. Pork was dry and steak was just 'ok'. Waiter we had that night was great, so despite entrees, were willing to try again. Plus, ambience is nice.\r \r So weeks ago, family was coming from out-of-town to celebrate 4 birthdays and decided on InContro. Tried to make reservations for 8 ppl but was told they ""don't take"" reservations but if we got there early, by 5:30p, no problem. The day we arrived (5:30), we were shocked to be asked if we had reservations! We explained that we tried and stated what we were told. The manager came over, explained complex terms/rules about reservations that didn't make any sense (like he was making it up as he went) in a very condescending way-NO TACT whatsoever! No apologies for misunderstanding/inconveniences -just coldly, that we'd have to wait 1 hr & 45 mins. We're not touchy-feely people that need apologies or sugary smiles, but this guy's demeanor was outright obnoxious, apathetic, and pompous! If he explained things in a more cordial manner, we wouldn't have been so p'd off about it. \r \r BUT, b/c of the manager's lack of people skills, we walked out with money burning in our pockets to celebrate a big ocassion and very ill-feelings towards this place. The valet overheard us complaining about the obnoxious manager and he said that MANY customers have walked out complaining about him!\r \r We went to 3 instead...was like a breath of fresh air after the nastiness we just experienced. Were welcomed by warm hostesses & positive energy enough to brighten our spirits. Never had a bad experience/meal there. So skip Incontro if you don't want to risk it. 3 is always a safe bet. Pros: Good ambiance Cons: Obnoxious management more

Good food and service, management should take a course in hospitality ! 2/9/2008

When my niece and her family moved to Franklin in August 2007 we were delighted to find this lovely restaurant. Though we live in Florida we have already dined there four times. We have found the food to be well prepared and nicely presented. We have always found the wait staff to be personable and efficient. \r \r This last visit with friends we had a one hour wait which was understandable on a Saturday night. The hostess suggested that we go upstairs for drinks and appetizers. When a table was ready two of us went downstairs in the elevator while the others settled the bill. We wound up being stuck in the elevator for 15 minutes our only communication being with an emergency operator who was ready to call the local Fire Dept. to come to our assistance. Finally the staff figured out how to open up the elevator door. When we did emerge, the manager was not at all solicitous, did not apologize and didn't even offer to buy us a drink or dessert for our trouble. He could have cared less. For that reason, we will never return to the restaurant. While the food and service may have always met and even surpassed our expectations, we find management's indifference to their clientele inexcusable. more

WE WILL BE BACK! 1/9/2008

We found Incontro to be excellent in every category. Unlike earlier reviewers, we felt that the waiters were absolutely wonderful---very attentive, affable, and informative. The food was superb, and the selections were creative and interesting. The presentation of the food was done exceedingly well, and the wine list was extensive. \r \r Our one small criticism was the placement of a TV in the bar in the main dining room---this seemed out of place and somewhat ruined the otherwise lovely ambiance.\r \r We will happily be coming back to Incontro! Pros: Food selections, preparation and presentation; Waiters Cons: TV in bar in main dining room. more

Great foor, Great wine list 11/20/2007

\r Having been to Bill Bradley's other restaurants, and his first in Sonoma, I was pleasently surpirsed to find he was all othe way out here in Franklin. With Mario now running the front end this is easily the best restaurant in MetroWest.\r \r I've been there a number of times for both Lunch and Dinner and the food is unfailingly great. With the arrival of Mario a month or so ago the service is now up to the standards set by Bill's food. If you haven't been there in the last month or so please try it again as the service has VASTLY improved.\r \r It really is a little bit of NYC food and service in Franklin MA at just about 1/2 the price. Pros: Great Food, Great Wine, New Great Service Cons: Mandatory Valet Parking Evenings more

Horrible service with rude staff 11/18/2007

This restaurant had very bad service. It took an hour and a half for our food to arrive after ordering. The waitress avoided us after the first 30 minutes. After 45 minutes, I was finally able to get her attention and she said it would take another 2 minutes. 15 minutes later, the manager came over and said it would be another 2 to 3 minutes. The waitress then continued to avoid us until the food finallly arrived. When I complained to the manager, he said I was lying and that there was nothing they could do. \r \r Do not go this restuarant, it is worth the prices at all. Go to Three instead. Pros: local Cons: horrible service, over-priced, rude management, forced valet parking more

Beautiful Atmosphere 8/18/2007

First time in restaurant on a weekend evening...fantastic upbeat atmopsphere, excellent food, phenomenal wine list, prompt service. Adult lounge upstairs with pool tables and fireplaces hard to find in this area. Newly added patio seating. Vallet parking nice touch. Was very impressed with finding a gem like this in the suburbs. Even take all reservations. Will visit again and again!!! Pros: Upper Casual Restaurant in Franklin Cons: not in my hometown more

A Most Forgetable Experience 8/9/2007

Hard to know where to begin. First we noticed how loud it was, conversation across the over sized booth was very difficult. While the waitress was pleasant the service was exceptionally slow. My meal, the Monday Veal Special was cold and over cooked to the point of being inedible.. The waitress offered to exchange the meal but I didn't want to go through another long wait. After talking to the manager she returned and basically said ""too bad, but that's life."" There was no offer of a discount or any other form of we're sorry. The other two meals were also less than spectacular. At least the company and wine was enjoyable. Pros: Lots of parking and a very pleasant hostess. Cons: The quality of the food and the noise. Also an expensive wine list for the location. more

Not what they say 7/6/2007

I went to Incontro restaurant based on some good reviews of the place from family members and general buzz around the area. I just found that this place leaves you scratching your head. The converted mill atmosphere and large bar were fantastic, but manditory valet parking was quite a shock. ""Aren't we in Franklin?"" I thought. To add to that frustration, the place was very noisy, even in the tiny dining room area - obviously the bar was a big draw for this place. The food was good, though service was painfully slow. They have an elevator for wait staff because the kitchen is on the first floor, but the dining room is on the second floor. Hmmm. As the night dragged on and our waitress seemed to lose energy, we made the mistake of ordering dessert. This prolonged our night another 45 minutes or so, as someone ""lost"" our order. Supposedly a manager was consulted, but we could not be sure until we saw the bill, and were sure no manager did, because no manager with any sense would leave unhappy customers without even taking off so much as a coffee... Boo! Not only did I leave a tiny tip for the waitress, but even the valet got nothing. I go with the other reviewer here - people are too snobby! Pros: Ambiance - in the bar area Cons: service, layout, staff attitude more

Management is TERRIBLE!!! Boston Prices in Franklin, MA! 10/17/2006

I was invited to Incontro for a 40th anniversary party a few weeks back. My boyfriend was hosting it for his parents and chose Incontro because it was relatively new and close to his parents house. He reserved a table for 15 guests about a week or two in advance. However, due to some family coming in from out-of-state last minute there ended up being a few more. When he found out that morning he called to tell them that there may be another 2 people in the reservation. He was told by the hostess that they didnt have the room to seat us. Without telling us that they had private rooms that would seat 25 people that were available, they were ready to turn down a party of 18 (imagine that???). After speaking with several people he asked if they had private rooms available which they did and he reserved one. \r \r When we got there that night we were seated in the private room and ordered some cocktails to wait for everyone to arrive. There happened to be a 15-year old cousin who came along with his parents and was sitting with everyone in the private room drinking water. When the waitress asked for his ID we were told that everyone had to be 21-years-old in the party and that the parents had to bring their child downstairs and couldnt eat with us for his aunt and uncle's 40th anniversary. \r \r It was unreal. The amount of business that this restaurant lost that night when we all walked out was obscene. Never mind ruining a 40th Anniversary party for an entire family. Its a shame that a restaurant that is in Franklin, MA could have such an attitude and I would firmly not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I cant wait for the day that this snobatorium is bankrupt and promptly turned into a SUBWAY. \r \r Cons: Management is terrible, drinks expensive and way too weak! restaraunt is very hard to find! more
