Gillian Bissett Colour Salon

I went into Gillian Bisset on a referral from a friend because my hair was dated and added years to this aging beauty. The young stylist (tall blonde with gorgeous hair, can't remember her name) was very helpful in suggesting a color and a new hairstyle that not only enhanced my own features but gave me 10 years. Could that be possible? She knew how to blend lowlights with highlights that make my entire face and skin glow. The entire staff were very attentive and friendly and I would recommend this hidden treasure to everyone, young and old. Pros: Staff was very attentive and friendly, great color. Worth having to go upstairs to the restroom. Cons: Use the restroom before you start your treatment! more

I am new to town, and in search of a new salon. I have had bad experiences in the past, so I was VERY peticular in choosing a place this time. I went into the Gillian Bissett Colour Salon for a consultation only. Immediately, I felt welcomed and I got a good vibe. The stylist that was consulting me was so confident and excited about the new look she wanted to give me, that I decided to do it right then. I am so happy I did. I love my new look, and I get so many compliments on it. Plus the treatment that they put on my hair left it feeling silky and shiney and not to mention the products smell so good. I will definitely be going back! more

I went in to have my gorgeous brown hair with golden highlights dyed to a beautiful auburn color and JENNIFER turned it into the worst coloring experience ever. Not only did she initially dye it unevenly, but after damaging my hair again with more dye to fix her mistake, the color resulted in a purple shade. Literally. It was horrific. Not only did she have the nerve to still charge me when it was clear that it was a piss-poor job and that I hated it, but she had the audacity to say, ""I'm sorry you don't like what I have done,"" as though it was just a difference in opinion. No one, and I mean NO ONE, would have liked what she had done. more

Read the reviews and decided to give this salon a go....My appointed stylist was Jennifer who gave me the most insightful consultation ever..We chatted for 20 mins as she grilled me about everything from my job, lifestyle and complexion color..It was great, she really made me feel very comfortable. I'm in my early 40's and my old hairstylist was coloring my hair way too dark, it was almost black and extremely harsh. My new color is a lighter brown with caramel hilites as Jennifer called it and I love it! Thank you city search for helping me find my new hairstylist and thankyou Jennifer for taking the time to make me feel attractive again! more

Beautiful haircolor, very stylish haircut and wonderful service! This is a great find, and they are open Sundays! You get what you pay for and this place is worth every penny! I have wanted to get hair extensions but all of the salons that do them seem to be either in the valley or Beverly Hills. Too long of a drive. In my search I noticed that Gillian Bissett Salon started doing them. Brentwood is in my neighborhood but I was nervous trying their ""new"" product. Long story short, my girlfriend went in and got them with me (for support) and we both LOVE them. The girls in there r so nice and our hair looks great. : ) Going to go back for color. more

Since hair color is something you don't want to play with, I checked City Search for the top salons in my area. I went to Gillian Bissett Salon first to check out the atmosphere and the staff vibe. It's a small salon in a great area. Nothing uptight about it. My appointment was during the week so it was quiet which was nice. Sometimes you just don't want alot of commotion around. Anyway, my stylist asked what results I wanted and I let her use her professional judgement. I wanted something closer to my natural color (dark brown) with something to give it some depth. The color and highlights turned out great. For anyone wanting to try this salon, I suggest a week day appointment since I am sure this place gets busy (as with most salons) on the weekends. Also, make sure to use the restroom before you get started as it is located upstairs. I didn't mind going upstairs with color all over my head and with the protective smock on....but some people may find that uncomfortable. Pros: Not busy during the week. Great area. Cons: Bathroom upstairs. Parking may be difficult to find. more

I just move here from Seattle, looking for a new look. I found it! The Gillian Bissett colour salon gave me the oportunity to change my look without the ""shock factor"". My stylist was patient and gave me options, in order to go into a new look without my ""falling off the chair scare"". I feel I can go back and continue my changes as I become more brave. That is hard to find in a beauty salon. The location is wonderful. I felt I was in a world of my own. Thank you City Search for informing me of my new salon and thank you Gillian Bissett for making me feel confortable and beautiful. I will be back! Pros: location location location. Cons: So you have to go upstairs to go to the bathroom... no big deal. more

What else can I say! My hilites look GREAT!!! I was becoming an all over color with my previous hairdresser so Gillian suggested giving me a combo of hilites and lolites.....What a difference! Pros: beautiful location! didn't take all day! Cons: It is Brentwood, so it can get pricey! more

After reading some of the reviews written about my favorite salon, I had to share my thoughts. THIS REVIEW IS NOT FAKE!!! I have lived in LA for 8 months. When I first arrived here I went to one of LA's famous salons. I paid way too much money for average hair and poor service. A friend recommended Gillian Bissett salon and I have never been happier! The salon is clean with a great vibe. The staff is friendly and professional. My stylist (Suzanne) knows color and always makes my hair look amazing. When I wanted a new cut, she did an incredible job and listened to what I was looking for. The prices are very reasonable and I never leave feeling that I was overcharged. If you are looking for shining, beautiful color and a great cut...definitely try this salon! They just started offering hair-extentions too!!! i've been going to the same guy for a while now and after asking him many times to change my hair color, he wouldn't - so I left and gave Gillian Bissett a go......all i wanted was some more honey blonde and that's what i got! she was on time, professional and not at all pushy on the product sell which was nice. cute salon....awesome head massage...... more

I went here to get my color corrected and a cut. It cost me $410 and I was there for almost 5 hours, but that's not even the worst part. I had to listen to the 21 year old bimbo stylist who wasn't working on me talking to her customers about how global warming isn't real, the war in Iraq is necessary because a lot of people died on 9/11, etc. No matter your political persuasion, this is not appropriate conversation in a customer service environment. My stylist was very nice, but was also jumping in on these asinine conversations from time to time. I also had to go outside and upstairs to use the ladies room. Gillian Bissett wasn't there that day, and maybe she's a styling rock star and I certainly can't imagine the stylists behaving that way if she were, but I didn't find anything the least bit special about this place. I am totally convinced most of these reviews are fake. It is simply not possible that my experience could have been so drastically awful. As for my stylist, she was sweet but she worked VERY slowly and the cut was just okay. It was more like a trim, when I actually wanted a style change. Also, I haven't seen this mentioned, but the place wasn't very clean. I don't understand what happened. I had very high hopes based on the high rating on citysearch. I only know that I'll never go back and I'm pretty sure the vast majority of these reviews are ringers. Pros: none that I can think of Cons: no parking, no bathroom(!), annoying staff more

Stumble across Gillian Bissett Colour Salon and Michelle in my search for a great new hair stylist, and did I score!!! I am a natural blonde, but from time to time my hair needs a little help to get rid of the brassiness. First time I saw Michelle I only get my color done, I was not ready for a change in hairstyle yet (you girls know what I am taking about). Michelle did such a great job, my hair looked totally natural. I absolutely loved it. Second time I saw her I was ready for that change. I went in and told Michelle to do what ever she wanted (must say I was a little nervous), but I shouldnt have been. She totally took care of me and told me what she had in mind and making sure I was okay with it. She is very professional and extremely talented. I went out that night and I looked the best I had in a long time the mirror told me that and so did the 5 phone numbers that I had in my pocket after the night was over!!! I like the vibe of that salon as well, you can tell that the girls in the salon like working with each other, I didnt get any vibe of cattiness/rivalry that you sometimes can feel at salons. Got my hilites touched up here and I love them! They were able to get the color I wanted without using bleach!! The service was really nice, very genuine and also NO tude which I find hard to find in LA. Also, I wasn't there all day, overall great experience. Pros: fast, on time and very inviting! more

I called this salon on Friday afternoon and they stayed late to take care of me :)! I had been to a salon in Bev Hills and had received probably the worst hair color ever! A long story short, I look so much better & I am now on the road to recovery. These stylists are very well trained, you just know by watching them work! If you need a new colorist/hairstylist this is the place. My hair has never looked or felt better! This salon is so down to earth and still very porfessional and classy. They even applied a mask to my hair after the color which sealed it (at no extra charge), wonderful service! I'll definately be back! Pros: great location, hair-masks! more

Just found this salon on cs and love it! I needed immediate color correction and they were able to get me in, it was probably the desperation in my voice! From the moment I arrived they took great care of me even calming my nerves with a wonderful herbal elixir! If you're looking for somewhere new this is the place. more
