I've been going to Gene Juarez for 20 years. Have used the Southcenter and Downtown salons with excellent, consistent results every time. You need to communicate with your styli...

Gene Juarez...My opinion 9/14/2002

I am new here from another state and a month ago was desperately seeking a good quality salon to cut my hair. I dont mind spending $45 on a haircut if it is a GOOD cut. I wasn't let down, I really liked what I got out of my visit and it was truly a relaxing experience. :) A++ more

not worth your money & time 9/14/2002

The staff feel that they are at the verge of being discovered, therefore, explains the glamorous, model-list attitude. I guess you can act all that IF you are able to provide great haircuts plus awesome service. I've been to other hairsytlists and they're not only nice, cool individuals but also great professions. Get your haircut elsewhere, because you are worth it!! more

Rude CustomerService People 9/13/2002

I go to Gene Juarez atleast every other month because I love my colorist and I have had a couple good haircuts but the staff that checks you in and out are the most rude people I have ever interacted with. The last time I was there the manager insulted me by asking how much I wanted to put on my credit card. When I told her $50 she looked at me and said "we don't give cash back", as if there was no way a young woman would tip $50 for a color and cut. If I didn't think my colorist did such a good job, I would never go back. more

Don't waste your time or money! 9/5/2002

Don't go to Gene Jaurez! I never will again! First, I checked in and waited for more than an HOUR! Tired of waiting, I asked the front desk why I was waiting so long. They realized that I was never actually checked in! Then, due to the hour wait, they tell me that I won't be able to do both my cut and color. I decided I should at least have something done, so I opt for the cut. Bad idea! The stylist was HORRIBLE! During most of the cut, he asked me to stand because it was easier for him. So, after standing for a rushed 30 minute cut, I finally looked at my new style. YUCK! I asked him to change it and he suddenly got a horrific attitude and fixed my hair, audibly huffing the whole time. So, my advice, never go to Gen Jaurez. more

$60 for WHAT? 8/29/2002

As a stay at home mom a stylish haircut is often viewed as a luxury and certainly not a necessity. That being said I like to pamper myself a few times a year with a trip to Gene Juarez. My most recent visit was two weeks ago. I was very happy with my cut and style and felt oh so hip as I wandered out of the salon, through the mall and back to my car. I was horrified when I checked my look out in my rear view mirror and noticed my face was COVERED with tiny hairs left over from my cut and style. When I pay $60 for a haircut I would have expected the stylist to brush the hair off my face. Embarrassing! I'm not sure if I was more embarrassed about the hairs on my face or the $60 I just spent on so-so service. Pros: Trained Stylists, Free Refreshments Cons: High Cost more

Great manufactured spa 8/28/2002

Great facility with all the services you may want or need, feels manufactured and some staff are almost robot like in their 'have nice day' mode. If you want something that will deliver the service and don't need a real personal touch or character from the staff this is great. Although forget the hair salon - this really is a factory! Pros: Efficient, Professional, buzzy Cons: Impersonal manner, Won't remember you, You'll be processed! more

Don't waste your time 8/14/2002

I'd like to think of myself as a fair consumer. Having said that I would like to say don't waste your time. I've given Gene Juarez a try on 3 different occasions and have never been satisfied. The last time I was at the South Center location and the service was horrible. I was checked in promptly, but it was all down hill from there. During my 20 minutes wait for the technician no one check on me or bothered to tell me that she was running behind schedule. Needless to say in order for her to "catch up" she rush through my service. I don't think a wax service of any kind should be rushed. more

the worst 8/8/2002

Ugh, the day before Christmas I took the day off work to take a little mini break in between the shopping rush and Christmas dinner for twenty. The stylist didn't show up to work that day so I was sans my relaxing breather for the holiday. It was not the first time GJS had a scheduling problem with my appointment. more

I think they are over priced for the generic haircut they provide. more

Third times a charm? 8/2/2002

I went to the downtown GJ and ended up paying more than 80 bucks for a lop-sided, eneven haircut that was awful. To the stylists credit, he did spend a long time on my hair and was really nice, but I had to go back again just to have a style that didn't make people twist their heads to look at me. It was pretty bad and as nice as he was, I'd still rather go somewhere else. The counter help are SO stuck up, and have you seen their hair? Pros: nothing, kind of nice, nothing Cons: Over-priced, Over-hyped, everything more

Worst Service Ever! 7/9/2002

I am getting married in a month, and my bridesmaid and I went to Gene Juarez to have a practice updo and makeup. The day I went in, my stylist decided halfway through that she couldn't do the style that I had requested. It is the most basic updo for a wedding, and I even brought in 3 different pictures. I could do it myself, but it would be less stress for me on my wedding to have a professional do it. So my bridesmaids gets their hair done, and they looked great. To start off we didn't get the warmest welcome from the front desk reps, and the stylist not having confidence in her job really disappointed me. I don't intend on ever doing business with them again, and I will never refer anyone to that salon. more

Christina is great! 6/18/2002

I have been getting my hair cut by Christina Smith here for the last few years and have always been satisfied with the service I've received. The wait may at times be a little long, but staff are always filling my coffee, and once it is my turn I don't feel rushed through my appointment either... Pros: stylist, service, comfort Cons: wait time more

  • In Short
The front desk and the urban, brighly lit salon have a fitting air of sophisticated chaos. However, there's a quick escape: the tranquil, feng shui-adapted waiting room. There, after changing into spa clothes and a luxurious robe, spa-goers are treated to an aromatic foot soak by the spa hostess. Services include the standards--facials, body-wraps, manicures, massages, mud masques--and more.
