First time I went in I was looking for capacitors to fix my flat screen monitor. I had the bad caps in my hand and didn't know exactly what I should get... Ahaha, I laugh because ...

Worst

They could have been on Seinfelt!! \r \r Show me your schematic papers!\r \r -- NO Transistors for YOU!!-- NEXT!!!

Biggest Ass**** I Ever Met 10/18/2009

Do not go there to buy anything, because they will make you feel like you don't know anything, and they make themselves as they are the most experts on all topics electronic. They are the rudiest people on the face of earth, and EVERYTHING is way over PRICED. My advice by it on Digi Key, or Mouser. Pros: They might have what you need. Cons: Everything Else more

Questionable policy 10/10/2009

Five days after I purchased $23 worth of items, I went a different way on my project and went back to return the items. When I got to the store, I was told ""it says 'no refunds or exchanges' on the receipt "". Normally that would not have been a problem but I don't recall ever seeing a sign in the store to that effect. Seeing it only on the receipt AFTER the purchase raises questions. Is that legal, is it ethical ? I guess they don't care about keeping customers comming back. There are other stores in the area for their kind of product. I doubt I'll be back. Pros: Has a lot of inventory for the hobbyist Cons: Once you're out of the store, you're stuck with the purchase more

If you know what you are looking for 8/4/2009

I have been shopping with Electronic Connection for 2 years off and on now. When I first started shopping there the lady was moody and the guy was OK for the most part (by compairision). The longer I've been shopping the better the experence. I think they are reading the responces from others and are working on their moods. Just wanted to give a better responce for different times. I will be shopping at the store again this week and will follow up, I will make sure I ask questions and see if I get a tude. \r \r With all that said, this place does have everything I've needed and other items I didn't know they still make. I wouldn't tell anyone not to shop at this store but would encurage people to try it and see what responce you get from the owners. I do agree with some of the others who posted, I've seen people go in and want someone design their project for them, I'm sure that gets old. Pros: Everything needed under one roof Cons: Just like everyone said, poor customer service more

Well Stocked 4/1/2009

Very well stocked with good quality parts and equipment. Prices are not the lowest, but are comparable to online without shipping costs.\r \r All the comments about the owner attitudes are right on...glad I accessed this site, now I know it is not just me personally.\r \r Anyway, the store is kept well stocked, so they are doing an excellent job, just don't expect friendly advice,\r I usually know what I need and want when I go into the store, and I don't ask for any free advice.\r \r Radio Shack is extreemly friendly and courteous, but sell junk, and always offer advice / or sell you a part that is incorrect. I don't care for overly helpful salespeople that don't know what they are talking about, but are great cons at making you think they know if you don't.\r It is a false sense of security, but unfortunately that is what many customers need. Pros: Well Stocked Cons: Advice and Consultations are painfull more

This Place Rocks! 3/22/2009

If you need it, they have it .... 15 times over! They are located in Westland off Ford Road. The price they charge was lower than I would exspect. Pros: Everything I never would think of more

Quit complaining. I would like to see how rude the complainers are to everyone else. 2/13/2009

Yes, the people who own the store can be short sometimes. But I have found that if I am nice to them, they are nice to me. I have met many people in all businesses that were much worse than these people. Also, some customers that visit electronic stores seem to think that sales people are engineers who provide technician or engineering services to parts buyers. They are not there to give technical advise on how to fix stuff, they are there to sell parts. Don't expect sales people to be electronic theory teachers while at the cash register either. \r \r This store is well stocked and it is the only real parts store left in southest mi.. When they are gone all the complainers may sing another tune. Pros: Last parts store in michigan. RS Electronics is a joke. Cons: Don't have some of the more high tekie stuff but the store is already crammed. more

Ratings system here has a postive skew when it comes to the Electronic Connection...!!!.... 11/24/2008

What I dont get is this rating web site...... They are WAY too biased and skewed to keep the ratings of a business in the positive when for example Electronic Connection in Westland Michigan should be in the negative. Look at the reviews here.. You're talking more than half of them are either a 1 or 2 star,,, however their overall rating is 2 1/2??? My response GIVE ME A BREAK... !!!! Look,,, call it like it is, this place \r su-ks!!!\r \r I'd rather see another gas station open up at the corner of newburgh and Ford and heck I'd even go there and pay $6.00 + a gallon before I'd ever step into Electronic Connection again.. All of the the reviews, well lets just say they're DEAD on about the customer service there...... Pros: Absolutely NOTHING to say here!!! Cons: WOW to bad I can only fit about 50 characters here.. I could fill 600.... THUMBS DOWN!!!!! more

Horrible Customer Service 11/3/2008

I should have read the reviews before going, I cannot stress enough how bad the customer service is in this store!! I needed a power adapter for a garage door opener and I brought in the owners manual with the information. The older guy was very helpful, he read the owners manual with the discription of the item and proceeded to insist that I needed an adapter with a stereo connector. I told him i thought it was the other kind with the pin in the center and he was adamant that they don't make that kind of adapter. I brought the item home unpackaged it to plug in, and it was what I thought, the wrong kind of plug. I then took the item back to the store and was met by Miss Sunshine who told me that there was no returns on opened items. I told her that the guy read the manual and chose the adapter for me. She said it didn't matter and she could see if he could solder on an end for me because they ""don't make that kind of an adapter"" (I brought the garage door button in so they could see it). She would have to see how much he would charge me! \r \r I then left the store, with no refund or exchange and went down the street to Radio Shack where I picked up the proper adapter with no problems. \r \r These people are Liars and Crooks. The woman is one of the rudest people I have ever met in the retail world. Beware!!!! Pros: No Pros for me Cons: Rude, No Customer Service, They do not care about your satisfaction. more

Customer Service Delete... 8/2/2008

Rather than the free press/news writing about their ""backyard"", I think they should investigate how lousy they run their electronics store. Really, this couple is tremendously rude, especially HER... What a class act... Really, do a google search, find another electronics store to go to.. I see there are a couple more locally.... Pros: No Cons: Too many to list.. Buyer Beware.. more

1 star 6/30/2008

I have to say that I agree with the MAJORITY of the rest. To me it doesnt matter what they carry, rather how they treat people. The WORD needs to get out regarding their inabililty to offer courteous assistance. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. Just not nice people over there,,,, period.... Cons: come on.. more

Glad to have them 6/13/2008

I have been shopping at Electronic Connection for seven years now and have had nothing but courteous customer service from both the lady and the gentleman there. I for one am grateful they are in business in my area. I have been in the electronics trade for over 30 years and have watched them all fade away from Lafayette to TelVan, to Norwest, and Olson and I am happy to be able to go to Electronic Connection today.\r Pros: Good Selection, Good Stocking levels Cons: Only one store more

Attitude Adjustment! 6/3/2008

I have to agree! That lady is somewhat of a winch, She should get an attitude adjustment, hell the last time i was in there she was kinda rude! she acted like i did'nt know a thing! FOR CRUDS SAKE MAN! I Hold Two M.O.S.es IN THE MILITARY!! (SIGNAL SUPPORT) And (COMSEC REPAIR) LOL!!! But they do have alot of Stuff! However I miss the Poor Guy that used to be on Van Born rd, TELEVAN ELECTRONICS, THAT GUY HAD EVERYTHING IT SEEMED LIKE! Plus He was Cool as Hell! Then he Had A stroke! He had 15 I.C. chips in Stock for a blaupunkt radio I bought for 5$ off of some dumb kid that fried it! After i fixed it, that radio rocked, That Stinks! Pros: lots of Stuff Cons: Rudeness! more

Scared 3/13/2008

Dont go there, im still scared of the lady, the guy is cool. I went in for a resistor and hand full of parts needed for my project and she almost made me quit school. Why is she like this? No one may ever know...My heart goes out to her Husband that has to deal with her every single long nagging day. Im sure he tried to end it before but she probably ate all the razor blades in the house. Pros: They have electronics parts Cons: The lady behind counter that breaths doom more

Electronic Cunt-ection (Westland MI) 2/23/2008

Detroit area electronics parts suppliers are sparse - other than RS Electronics. (this is not exactly Silicon Valley!!)\r So, the alternative is Electronic Connection in Westland - here are my comments!!\r If you need it now, they have it all!!\r If you want to be treated as an unwanted customer, this is the place to call!!!\r If you want to be humiliated as a know-nothing, useless, time wasting consumer, give Mama Cass a call, Ya'all!\r I don't get it - they have a huge inventory, but when you call, the feeling is not of the warm and fuzzy variety.\r It is more like you are bothering them.\r If you can wait for your parts, go to one of the other suppliers - Digi-Key, Mouser, All Electronics, Newark, Jameco, Allied, etc.\r They all actually have customer representatives that actually care about you.\r Or, call the big woman at Electronic Connection, and remember this:\r If you want to be treated like a dog, and can wait for your bone, call the hog, and she'll answer the phone!\r more

electronic connection westland 2/14/2008

I agree with the comments below. Don?t ask them questions. I was looking for various caps and couldn't get anywhere with her. I explained didn't know exactly what the part number but knew I needed a 10nf cap to work in the 10--20V range but was told that?s not standard. And that was it. No offer to help just got the impression I was a hassle for her. Pros: convenient location Cons: staff more

dont ask questions 1/30/2008

only go here if you know exactly what you need and can find it on your own. dont speak unless spoken to pay and leave. I have gone here less than 20 times since 1985, and only go here when i need somthing i cant wait for. the lady needs a man or somthing she wond up way to tight. like the rest of posters if you are not an eletrical engineer dont expect any help past a finger pointing you to an isle to find it your self. Pros: selection Cons: owners, lady, price, service, service, SERVICE, CLOSED ON WED. more

Not open on Wednesdays, Use only when Necessary 9/5/2007

They are the only game in town. If there were other stores in the area I would shop there even if the prices were higher. I shop there only when necessary. The people there do have an attitude. I have been in electronics for over 50 years. (I am 60 now) I am a field service engineer and I only use when I need it ""now"". You can find things online much cheaper, but when you need it ""now"" they are the only place around to get certain things there are not any other alternate sources in the area. I get the same feeling as other posters. I don't know it all, I don't pretend to either but there has been times that they don?t have an item and act as if I am crazy because I need something tat they don't have. I also run a service business, and my customers also are my lifeblood. Without them, I would have nothing. I would never treat my customers the way they treat me. I would be out of business. I concur with the other reviews. Pros: Fair amount of stock, The only game in town. Cons: Make you feel unwelcome. more

Good Selection - Way Overpriced - Very Poor Customer Service 8/24/2007

I shop there only when necessary. You can find things online much cheaper, but when you need it ""now"" they are the only place around to get certain things I need quickly, and believe me, I have looked and looked for alternate sources in the area. I get the same feeling as other posters, many times the woman behind the counter seems annoyed that I am there ""bothering her"" with questions about electronic or radio components. Forgive my ignorance here but, isn't that HER JOB???? No, sorry, but I don't know it all, I don't pretend to. But sometimes I might want an opinion on a product, or to see if there is a better product available than the one I intend to get, but I have learned not to ask anymore. I research it online before going, and get what's avaiiable.\r \r I run a service business too, and my customers are my lifeblood. Without them, I would have nothing. I could never treat my customers the way she treats hers and still be in business. The gentleman that is there is always helpful and willing to answer questions, but unfortunatly he is not there often. Too bad too, as it is a well-stocked store that has such teriffic potential, and being the only one like it in the area that I can find, it could be a gold mine if their attitude towards customers wasn't such a turn-off and their prices so high. As I said, I generally order most things online at much cheaper prices if I have the 2 - 3 days to wait for delivery.\r \r The only other problem is that the store is closed on Wednesdays. Murphy's Law dictates that problems that require parts that are easily available from them will more than likely occur on Wednesdays. I can't tell you the number of times I have left a customers business, driven to the store, and got there only to find it closed and suddenly remember that they are closed on Wednesdays. Arrrrrgh! Pros: Great Selection - Good Location Cons: Attitude Towards Customers - Prices - Store hours more

A lesson learned 7/1/2007

I should have read the other reviews before shopping there... Absolutely nothing positive to say. They are extremely rude (especially the woman) and not willing to assist at all on the post sale.. Would not recommend this place to anyone... Oh, before you fork over the $$$ inquire about their return policy, it can change with the wind...\r \r Pros: Sorry... I did like the weather the day I went though... Cons: Courteous and Friendly.. NOT!!!! more

Get ready to feel insulted and overcharged 2/22/2007

I have been going to the Electronic connection for a few years, buying soldering kits and switches and all sorts of things. I think that the other review was right. These people do not like young people. I am 21. I walk in and ask the woman at the counter, very politely because I am trying to hedge the bad service with my very polite tone, ""I'm looking for a switch to toggle from an A channel to a B channel, like a toggle switch but a pushbutton with a 5/16 bushing mount or something."" She proceeds to tell me, ""well which is it? It's either a toggle or a pushbutton."" I repeat myself (this is a double pole double throw type switch, I couldn't think of this at the time though). She says, ""there is no such thing, but you cant go look through out switches."" Me,""OK...(long silence)..Where are they."" Her, ""Over there (pointing to the entire store in front of the desk)"" I went and found the data sheet catalogs myself, found the switch that was exactly what i explained to her, and then didn't buy it to spite her. Found it online, 4 dollars cheaper even after shipping charges. Is there any other place around here that isn't run by such awful people. Hows does this place stay in business? They have horrible service and are extremely overpriced...And while I was in there one of the old dudes buddies came in and the chatted for like a half hour watching me thumb through these data sheet catalogs. Also an older man came in looking for some kind of fuse holder or something for his 89 P.O.S. Honda or something and the woman behind the counter jumped to help him. what i was going to purchased was like 3 times the profit for them. hmmm, do not get it. I saw boycott this place, they don't deserve to be in business Pros: wide selection, anything that you will every need/want Cons: horrible, rude, mean, insulting service and high prices more
