I recently started seeing Lucynda on advice from a friend. I love what she does, super creative coloring that keeps me feeling a little extra sassy! Dirty Little Secret has the best staff in Portland (and there are alot of great salons in this town). My hair is a bigger star than I am - WHY? Two reasons - my hair isn't a big jerk like me, and most importantly, DLS! Pros: great backgroundmusic, close to TacoBell, sweet smiles more

the staff of DLS are very nice, the place itself is cool, but the eyebrow waxing is not so great. luckily eyebrows grow faster than hair! Pros: good location, nice staff, low price Cons: alcohol in the eye, uneven eyebrows more

First timer and it was a surprisingly pleasant expierence. Shannon cut my hair and cut and colored my girlfriends hair, for the first time in what seems like years we are both very happy with the results. Reasonable prices, no sales pressure, and friendly staff. Only one recommendation is that you offer beverages for your clients. Good job Shannon!!!!! lucynda beth did my color. she's very, very cool and the outcome was great. also, suzette, died my hair red (run lola run red) about 1 year ago...it was awesome, too. i recommend them both! Pros: atmosphere, creative, cool peeps more

Great people, great everything. If you're wondering if you should go, well this place is for you if you want a hip style without feeling intimidated, if you like a relaxed social place, where it feels like a big family, if you want to talk to people about your hair, your likes and dislikes, and if you want to be listened to and understood. Miss Kristie, Stylist Extraordinare is my main gal, but I would trust any one of them, and that says a lot! Pros: Relaxed, Modern, Funky Cons: Parking, sometimes more

Hair Extensions 2/7/2006

I got extensions last April, for my 45th Birthday. Miss Kristie is an absolute delight and very skilled. She explained the process I was buying into very well, and we began our partnership. We have had some interesting -- and frustrating -- learning experiences together, but we have always remained partners. Miss Kristie tells me she just gives me the long, beautiful hair I was ""born to have."" I insist she is my Hair Faerie. Extensions are a huge financial sacrifice for me, but worth every penny. Go and see Denyce!!! She listened without a long drawn out conseltation. My cut and color was fun and I felt like she was using currrent techniques. I also loved the staff, especially Eric, the receptionist. Pros: fun, young, good vibe more

this is a place that I always feel comfortable and at home. the whole salon feels like a community and the stylists are extremely talented. rotating art up on the walls even showcases local artists and you can sit and have a beer while getting your hair done. there are lots of salons in town but very few create the kind of geniunely progressive environment this one does. Very talented but not very professional 12/26/2005

Amie was recommended for good reason. But the customer service was really poor. There were repeated goofs on my appointments, even when I called to confirm the day before I'd get there and sit for a long time before they figured out they lost the appointment or the stylist didn't show up because she screwed up. This happened in various ways four times. There wasn't any apology for the inconvience until I told them I was done with it, in fact because they couldn't say it was my fault, it was ""this only happens to you"". Very talented but when i came here to comment I read through the comments and was struck by the defiant ""We're so sorry but it's your fault tone"" of their response to criticism on this site. What a disapointment 12/7/2005

I had fusion done 8 weeks ago. This was to give me beautiful long hair by means of a bonding agent, which would bond long hair to my short hair. Althougth it loked great when I left the shop, my new hair was just faling out at an very fast rate. I now know that the bonding agent was not good and the hair did not stand a chance. If you are consider this process think long and hard, as the stylist ""state she does not recieve continuing education on this subject. This is a very expensive process. I have now had to spend an incredible amount of money to have this fixed............ more

I came to Suzzette with a terrible self-cut hair disaster. Not unlike that scene in superman 1 when our hero flies around the earth, faster than the speed of light, and reverses the so-called ""destiny"" of Lois's death, Suzzette not only reversed my self-made hair-tastophy, she gave me the best Do ever. Better Curls! 11/10/2005

I have been seeing Amiee for a while now, and she is incredible working with my curls. After years of abuse and coloring, my hair is so much healthier and easier to manage. Back again from another wonderful cut and color from my lifesaving stylist Chai!!! Thank heavens for you girl...living in Portland for 4 years and I finally found my curl goddess. Chai has been my stylist for approx a year, the day I walked in she actually sat down and talked to me about what I wanted, then told me her thoughts. We were definitely on the same wavelength. It is so comforting to be able to walk into a salon, and feel like I'm at my best friend's house...would you like something to drink, read, etc., and sit down in the chair with no fear. Chai always knows what I want and gets it done. Thanks for your magic and the wonderful atmosphere...and thanks Eric for getting me in and working with my difficult schedule. more

Totally Cool Chicks Cut and Color with Class 9/21/2005

Dirty Little Secret is the kind of place you want to tell all of your friends about, but you hope they won't get TOO popular so you can still get an appointment. The stylists are hip and friendly and the clientele is totally diverse, from uptown money mavens to local DJs and artists. Denise does my hair and she strikes just the right balance between listening to what I want and offering her professional style advice. She does a great job and I always love my hair. I feel relaxed and at home in this neighborhood jewel. You can stop by for a chat in between cuts, get a quick bang trim, or just some advice about how to wear your hair for a special occasion. If you are tired of overprices salons with snooty staff, check out DLS. Just don't tell EVERYONE so I can still get in. Pros: friendly, talented stylists, prices more

CHAI is the BEST! 9/16/2005

I've been going to Chai for about a year. The great thing about her was that she took time with me to really find out what I wanted and suggested what would look best on me. CHAI gave me a haircut that WOWed me. But you know what the best thing was?? I got compliments until the day before I was scheduled for another haircut!! more
