Reasonably priced skillfull cuts 12/1/2004

The staff is very ""in the know"", yet not stuffy at all. The environment is great, and the cut I got is on par, if not better than, the $50-$60 men's cuts at more snobbish venus. Chai was great 10/19/2004

I've been looking for a skilled hair stylist for few years and got a lot of bad haircuts. My friend recommended DLS. Chai did an amazing job. I finally found a professional and she will be seeing me a lot :) She tool time to listen to me and go through pictures to figuire out what I wanted. Plus she was extremely nice. I've been asked few times who cut my hair cuz they love it. more

The Best Little Hair House in Portland!! 10/14/2004

I've always had phenominal treatment by everyone in the shop. They are quirky, fun, interesting and extremely knowledgeable. It's always an enjoyable appointment. I also like the fact that they allow local artists to show thier work in the shop. It shows a great community spirit and support. I always go to Lucynda but the other ladies are terrific too. Great Talent 10/7/2004

I went to DLS on a recommendation from another sight for people with curly hair... Amie came highly recommended on that sight as a person with great knowledge of hair, even curly hair. I went and discovered it is the very truth. She took the time to listen to what I wanted... she described in detail how to obtain that, and told me every step she was at. I walked away with a great cut and the faith in her to return for many more to come... I even made a color apointment on the way out. Here's my story: I was recovering from a horrific haircut that I had received three months ago. I tiptoed into Dirty Little Secret yesterday and put my trembling head of hair into Kristie's hands (trying to ignore the flashbacks of months of hat-wearing that had plagued my recent past). I gave Kristie creative reign with the cut & color...and boy am I glad I did. I got the most perfect 'do on the planet! It is punky yet professional, which is exactly what I wanted. I went into DLS yesterday for my first time. Tina was my stylist and she is amazing!! She knew exactly what to do with my hair becuase I am growing it out. Suzzette is amazing! 8/12/2004

I've never, ever had a better haircut or better experience getting my hair cut. DLS is so relaxed and unpretentious, not the usual salon attitude. Suzzette took the time to understand my thick, difficult hair and gave me the cutest cut. I've been getting SO MANY compliments! I didn't know my hair could look this good. Amie is amazing! 8/2/2004

I read the ratings here, and took the courage to get my hair cut. I have curly hair that has NEVER been cut properly. It always ends up looking like a mop. This time, Amie asked me what kind of cut I wanted, what I do with my hair, suggested some styles and products to use (didn't push at all!!!). I was very nervous while she was cutting, but at the end VOILA it was perfect. My friends tell me that it looks awesome and I agree. I'm amazed that my hair can look that nice!!! Amie is great for cruly hair 7/11/2004

Due to my naturally curly hair I am always apprehensive about getting my hair cut. For some reason stylist usually like to layer it so that I have a mullet no matter what I do. But Amie has done a great job of cutting my hair so it looks great curly. Not only that but I've learned a few tips from her on how to get my curls to ringlet and how to blow-dry it so it doesn't frizz. I also have to mention she's great at color. Chai gave me the best cut I've had in years. I didn't have a clue what I wanted when I walked in; yet, Chai was able to send me out the door perfectly happy with my hair. I don't consider my hair to be particularly easy to work with, and I'm trying to grow my hair longer. Chai worked with my natural hair...and I love it! I hate looking for new hairdressers because it is so hard to find a good one. I called DLS because of the rave reviews here. I'm so glad I did. Chai was great. I said I wanted blonde and red in my hair and she came up with four different shades that went with my natural color beautifully. She also gave me a great haircut. Amie's style, A-to-Z 5/9/2004

I never know what to do with my hair but my stylist, Amie, is understanding and full of suggestions. I have been seeing Amie for the last two years, and we've been trying to grow out my hair. However I always want a new style or addition. Come to find out --- she does these amazing French hair extensions. In the meantime, her color expertise has kept this ""growing-out"" phase lively and liveable. Because she continually educates herself on the newest lines, I am always kept abreast of special-needs hair products. Curly hair can be difficult to manage, but I never leave the salon feeling like my curly hair needs have not been met. Lucynda Beth is my beauty queen 4/22/2004

Lucynda Beth is the hottest hair stylist in all of the world. I couldn't imagine going to anyone else. I've had my hair cut by many stylist and have never felt this happy before. She is up to date and knows what I'm interested in before I can think of words to describe the style. She has never once complained about my insanely thick hair (which many stylists have throughout my life). I must also mention that she is a fabulous listener. The salon is in a convenient location, beautiful space, and the walls are full of local, portland artists work. WOW! Plus, all the other ladies are hot, sweet and talented. It feels good to get your hair cut surrounded by good lookin, smart women! And if you make an evening appointment. . . go to Dunes for some champagne to celebrate! more

Suzzette 2/27/2004

Suzzette is a talented, intuitive stylist who really listens to what her clients want. She puts up with all my quirks, and I'm a little ""difficult"" when it comes to my hair. Although I don't get color done very often, I know that she is also a gifted colorist. I highly recommend going to Suzzette. more
