Don't even hesitate--this place is a gem. 9/14/2005

Let me preface this by saying that I am (ashamedly) very picky about my haircolor. Over the years, I have tried many experienced and expensive stylists and none have achieved exactly the right results. Then, after the last one imparted a slight orange hue to my blond hair, I went to Denyce on a friend's recommendation. She is a miracle worker! She takes the time to sit down and really listen to what you want, and then proceeds to style your hair to perfection. Her prices are very reasonable, and the salon has a relaxed, yet professional feel to it. I finally found the right place, so I had to mention it for anyone else who has been searching... Thank you, Denyce--you're a true artist! Pros: DENYCE! Cons: Have not found any. more

Denise makes me pretty 9/14/2005

My name is Storm Large , I'm a musician in town . It's part of my job to look good , but all the home dye jobs , cheap products and constant sweating in a smoky club had wrecked my hair . I mean , my hair was WRECKED before I went to DLS and let Denise McMillan DO me . A year later and my hair is happy , silky and awesome thanks to her . Denise is my girl . I can't keep this secret 9/13/2005

I have been getting my hair cut and colored at DLS for 4 years now. I moved out if state for a time and still came back every 3 months so that Amie could do my hair. the drive from Cal. was worth it. I tell every person I know that they will always get what they want from DLS. Trust me, if you want great hair this is where you will go. I love what Amie has done for me. more

I love My Hair Cut!!! 9/12/2005

I just moved here from Seattle and had no idea where to get my hair cut. I went to DLS and saw Denise!! She cut and colored my hair and I could not be happier! I have naturally curly hair usually too much is cut off but she did a great job! She totally cares and made me feel so comfortable. The atmosphere is cool too, not stuffy and boring!! OUCH!!!! 9/8/2005

I had been going for years to another salon that i love...but my stylist left. I tried something new and what a mistake. It started out ok, but as the old cut lost it's shape (after 4 months) and DLS stylist took over...well... Then...Color disaster. Cut that is HORRIBLE. I ran back to my salon...and got it fixed. I won't mention their name, because that would be rude, but save yourself the heartache. These people really DONT know what they are doing. Pros: inept, unprofessional, need i say more? Amie knows what to do with curls! 8/19/2005

I made an appt. with Amie Zimmerman based on a recommendation of a friend who also has curly hair. It was amazing. I'm letting my hair grow long, and the curl sags and my hair tends to be very dry and frizzy. Amie cut it dry, then washed it, and cut it some more. And she talked to me about the best way to style it. It's been two weeks now since I went, and the curl is back. My hair looks gorgeous! She wasn't pushy about the products she used, but I did end up buying some and it really works great for my hair. Amie is my new regular hair stylist. Pros: expert knowledge, funky atmosphere more

Best Birthday treat!!! 8/14/2005

I just got back from the salon. Suzzette is AWESOME! She's sweet, funny and very very professional. I had the best time. Suzzete is SO TALANTED! I got my hair colored and a hair cut. And it looks amazing! I've spend now 30 minutes just looking at my hair in the mirror and smiling :-) The BEST BIRTHDAY TREAT! Love love love it! Once again...Denyce is awesome! 7/4/2005

I don't typically take the time to do things like this, let alone do it twice but I just can't say enough about the talent that Denyce possesses. I never liked getting my dark hair highlighted because it typically gets really brassy, but I put my trust in Denyce and as usual it paid off! I can't stop getting compliments on the cut and color. Chai at Dirty Little Secret is amazing! I told her I wanted something, low maintenance, hip, and fun. She gave me a haircut that is all of the above, works with my natural wave and texture, and flatters my face. At least a dozen people (including three hair stylists) have raved about my cut and asked who did it. She also gives a great scalp massage. The salon is stylish and classy without being snooty or off-putting. I've recommended it to friends and they all have similiar things to say. Pros: skilled, comfortable more

Suzzette has been doing my hair and my wife's for about five years. We would follow her anywhere. She is down to earth, sweet, and really cares about how she makes people look and feel. Dirty Little Secret Salon has a dirty little secret and i'm about to tell you it: SHANNON is the best hairstylist in the world! Everytime she cuts my hair, it looks awesome like a thousand hot dogs! She treats you like a person and not a customer, she gets to know you as a person and takes as long as it needs to get your haircut done. I'm pretty picky about my hair and usually have strict demands on hairstylists. I know what I want, but with SHANNON, I trust her so much that I kind of want her to do whatever she wants to my hair. Denyce from Dirty Little Secret is rad. She was very specific when asking what I wanted and gave me a gorgeous cut. I only had a trim- but my hair looks completely different. Shes super cool, really creative, and loves doing hair. I highly recommend her. more

I highly recommend DLS Salon if you are looking for a non-pretentious, fun and friendly salon experience. DLS offers a casual atmosphere with talented staff that will offer suggestions, but will always do it your way. Prices are extremely reasonable when compared with other salons of this type. I recommend Kristie for a do that is the bomb. She is also a hoot to talk with and get to know. more

I love Dirty Little Secret 1/19/2005

I finally found a hip salon in Portland with reasonable prices! I would recommend Suzette to anyone that needs a great cut and color. I started growing my hair out last May and Suzette kept me from looking like a freak during the awkward stages. I have curly hair and am very picky about my hairdresser--and Suzette is fantastic. Another important thing about DLS--no pressure to buy products, I never feel like I am at a used car lot. more

After years of straightening and frying my naturally curly hair, I found the most brilliant stylist at Dirty Little Secret. Amie listened to my past hair woes and talked to me about cut, color and product options - and gave me the most fantastic cut I have ever had. I can now actually wear my curly hair CURLY and not look like a mushroom head! Every visit to DLS has been a great experience - Amie always patiently listens to me, gives great cuts and fantastic color every time. Overall DLS is a great salon. nothing grows out slower... 1/8/2005

I wish I could say that my experience was great, but, hey, you take a chance going to someone new. I've learned my lesson. Not only was the color not what I asked for, the cut is ...well, disappointing is putting it mildly. I have a mullet (kind of - but that's disrespecting mullets), and I asked for a bob. Maybe my stylist was having an off day, maybe I was unclear, but one thing is for sure, nothing grows out slower than a bad hair cut. Better luck next time.
