I'm picky and I like this one far better than any of the other chow foods restaurants. When I go there, I go for one thing: Seafood. I often stick to the regulars such as ""Simp...

I was a little disappointed with the food.I've been ther twice and I have yet had a meal that would make me recommend the place. Pros: location Cons: food

long wait, bad service 1/9/2003

The food was ok, but not good enough to make up for the terrible service i experienced. It is definitely not the only show in town more

All or Nothing 12/6/2002

It's either really good or really bad...and for the price you better hope that it's really good!! The breakfast is consistently excellent...I recommend the salmon scramble or the french occupation toast...the dinner is more hit or miss...I had salmon that tasted like it was in the freezer for too long...however there have been other nights when it is magnificent... more

VIVA OAXACA ! 8/22/2002

We just experienced Coastal Kitchen's latest featured region, Oaxaca. I was blown away by the decor! It looks better than ever with colored flags streaming everywhere, the art jumping out at you (especially the Day of the Dead people). We got a great deck table and started out with the Rita Bonita. It's a margarita with fresh raspberries. We had the tamales (excellent) and the carne asada with mole (tasty). No room this time for dessert, but will be back for the cinnamon ice cream! They were very busy, but good, polite service. Pros: Cocktails, Decor, Food Cons: Crowded lobby/ bar, Street Parking more

Beautiful, secret deck! 7/26/2002

At first glance, it looks like a 50's diner in the middle of Capitol Hill. Fine for some, but we like more than plain old American food. We were delighted to see all of the asian-inspired art on the walls, and the Vietnamese menu in the window. When we were given the choice of going to an outside deck that was not advertised, we jumped at the chance. It is beautifully decorated with flower boxes, bamboo, and is pleasantly private. The sunny weather helped, of course. The food was gourmet at decent prices, but I must say that the bloody marys were TOO spicy. Although we only experienced the brunch deck atmosphere, we are looking forward to the Vietnamese torch-lit deck experience as well! Pros: Service, Ambience Cons: Spicy bloody marys more

Great brunch place 7/25/2002

I love how Coastal Kitchen highlights a regional or international cuisine every month, however, I always go for breakfast. This is a popular brunch spot, so be warned. The wait can be long during peak times. Pros: Generous portions Cons: Always a brunch crowd more

Fun place for brunch 5/20/2002

Another favorite of mine for breakfast or brunch. The place is lovely, with endless windows filling the space with natural light. The booths are perfect for settling into with friends or family on a Sunday morning. more
