Our A/C unit stopped blowing cold air, so I called Christian Brothers. They came out within a few hours. Their technician was up on the roof for 40 minutes. When he came down, he had with him a notepad that had 4 different “scenarios”. Option 1 was to replace the capacitor that had failed, another capacitor that was not operating at 100%, 2 add on components and a 2-year service plan for $1700.00! I was shocked to hear this, since the capacitor only costs $10.00 retail. Option 4, the lowest cost option, was to only replace the bad capacitor, and a 2-year service agreement, which was $1000.00.\r
I told him no thanks and gave him $70.00 for the service call.\r
I then called Magic Touch Mechanical at the advice of a friend since they fixed his A/C the week before. They were out to the house within an hour. The Tech was up on the roof for 10 minutes and when he came down, he said that there was a failed capacitor and it would cost $350.00. That is reasonable and $650.00 less than the low
