""Raw"" fudge brownie is delicious but expensive 1/9/2010

Wanted to see what eating ""raw"" foods would be like. The ""pizza"" was decent, but the green coconut curry was a little tough to eat - the hardness of the veggies made my mouth hurt after awhile, and the spiciness (kind of like a cabbage/horseradish-type spicy, not a pepper-type spicy) was hard to eat much of. Pros: Healthy Cons: A little tough to eat more

Variety of different foods, fresh quality, friendly staff, cozy environment 10/9/2008

I'm vegan and I brought my non-vegan meat loving friends here and even they loved the food! Pros: Good, exciting food Cons: A little bit of a wait to recieve food more

If you seek raw and/or organic AND vegan, this is a good place 6/16/2008

Their new space is open, airy, light-filled; a lovely cafe setting. Something about this place reminds me a little of the Elliot Bay Bookstore. You will find unique and creative cuisine here, catered especially for raw diets and healthy gurus. It's a bit pricey, and the food I have had so far is just okay, but this really is the only restaurant of its kind in Seattle. A wide array of vegan, raw, even gluten-free deserts await you when you walk in; I recommend trying some. Staff is friendly too. Another reason to eat here is that the food and beverages are almost all organic! Pros: Creativity, Variety, Organic, Vegan, Fresh, Nice Staff and Pleasant Cafe Setting Cons: expensive for the serving size more

Organic Heaven! 9/6/2007

If you haven't heard, Chaco Canyon has moved from its tiny original location just a block to the west (corner of 50th and 12th, across from the YMCA), and WOW what a change! The old place was quaint, if not a bit musty and cramped. The new location is bright, airy and beautiful. As a longtime regular customer, I must say that the change in environment has brought a huge change to everything else. The menu is more extensive. The notorious wait time for food and the frequent outtages of menu items are a thing of the past. The friendly hippie staff from before has been transformed into a bright, cheerful and (as far as I can tell) almost entirely female one. Best of all, the food as always fresh, imaginative, affordable and delicious. I hate going into a cafe and seeing the same items you see everywhere else; Chaco Canyon truly strives towards originality and variety on its menu. If you've never been, go check them out! Pros: Staff, food, ambiance Cons: a little loud more

Healthy and Yummy! 6/20/2006

I ate here this week for the first time. I had the avacado and tomato sandwich- sounds kinda boring, but it was the best I ever had! The bread they used was to die for and the 7003 juice which was just delicious. more

Vegan oasis! 2/14/2006

As a fairly recent vegan, I have been slowly trying all the places in town and i just LOVE this place! The people are so friendly, the food is great, free wireless a huge plus. The thai grinder is always a winner and the pizza! The organic juice menu is awesome too, with prices you can't beat. Thank you for making vegan life a bit easier! Pros: inexpensive, friendly, yummy specials more

Yummy Pesto sandwhich 10/9/2005

The food was good when we finally got it. They didn't have any soup, they didn't have any hummus so I got my third choice the pesto melt. It was very good. My friend had the lasagna. She was surprised and thought it was weird, but she ate every bite. I enjoyed the menu and will probably eat here again as there are several items I want to try. Great fresh juice menu. I picked this restaurant because I avoid eating dairy or wheat. I really like raw food and the menu is creative and reasonably priced. I wasn't the least disappointed in the food or menu. Service was minimal and what we got was in slow motion. We were basically ignored the rest of the time. If your over 21 and have expectations about customer service you might want to consider ordering to go. Pros: Food, Juice Cons: Service, In musty basement more

Excellent Cafe Food! 6/20/2004

I think the previous reviewer had some valid points, but I just needed to put in my $0.02 as a ""longtime"" customer of Chaco Canyon. Yes, their food tends towards the simple side and they do tend toward ""raw patty"" dishes. But given their pricing ($4-$7) one can't expect the dishes that are served in luminarious raw restaurants such as Juliano's and Roxanne's (which cost literally 5-10 times as much for a meal). At $5.95, their Thai Grinder is a bargain -- actually, an amazing deal considering the cafe is ""98 percent"" organic. Though not a dedicated raw foodist myself, I eat there often with my also non-raw foodist partner. Their meals are organic, affordable, fresh and delicious. I would encourage anybody, no matter what their diet, to give it a try when they're in the neighborhood -- you won't be disappointed. Also, their espresso rocks! Pros: food menu, fresh juice, all-out friendly more

Not the best intro to raw foods 6/6/2004

With an amazing ambiance and wonderful staff, Chaco Canyon Cafe seems like it should be a raw foodists dream. And, in some ways it is. The prices are good (meals under $8) and the options tantalizing (spinach lasagne, spicy thai grinder) ... but the dishes won't woo anybody who isn't familiar with raw foods. Perhaps I've been spoiled by the raw restaurants in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, but Chaco Canyon's food fell into the raw foods trap of ""ground up stuff in a patty on a plate of greens."" Dedicated raw foodists will celebrate (the dishes are tasty and hearty), but those unfamiliar with the cuisine won't be swayed....unlike, say, Raw in Santa Monica, where I could bring my carnivourous friends and watch them drool over an all raw, but all amazing meal. Pros: raw foods, organic ingrediants, great prices more

Best Coffee In Seattle Hands Down 5/26/2004

You cant touch the top notch service, supreme quality of food... and the beyond reasonable prices. After living in Seattle a year and visiting dozens of coffee shops Chaco is hands down my favorite. Free internet too! Pros: Inexpensive, Internet, Healthy more

Tasty Veggie Foods, Tantalizing Juices 5/26/2004

I love this cafe! Above and beyond the free wireless, this cafe offers a friendly, warm atmosphere. The juices are delicious, well-balanced, and organic. The food is the best in the city! Raw and cooked alike I know I'm in for a treat when I visit chaco canyon. Suggestions: Emerald City Juice, and the Spicy Thai Grinder. Try the specials, they're amazing! Pros: Raw Foods available, Warm and Friendly, Organics more

Yum!! 10/2/2003

I've never been a health nut or anything, but eating and drinking at Chaco makes me high. The juices are really spunky and the veggie foods are creative and filling. They have coffee, but the juice is all I need to get going. more
