I've chosen Bridaltown not because I have a problem with Bridaltown but because they are well known in my area. I went to Bridaltown but I ordered from a different internet site. ...

This was the first place I went looking for a prom dress. I didn't know how much it would cost or what it would be like, and I had no previous biases. At first I was greeted and...

Waste of time, waste of gas 4/28/2008

Contrary to what the website claims, Bridaltown is NOT worth the drive. This was my first appointment to try on wedding gowns and Bridaltown looked fablulous on the Website. From the outside it is rundown and small (not this huge sparkling place with a pond, fountain, gazebo and a huge parking like the picture on the website) Not wanting to judge from it's exterior, and because we had driven 40 minutes, I went in for my appointment. There was not a multitude of dresses as I had expected. In total I tried on 5 dresses, only one of which was even remotely similar to what I was looking for. We weren't allowed to take pictures (they said it was due to copyright laws - in retrospect they probably don't want actual pictures of the place getting out in public anywhere as the handful of dresses and shabby atmosphere don't match the picture they paint on their website) The consultant was initially pleasant but not especially accomodating or helpful. She did not offer me a veil or shoes to help complete the look. She clearly was interested in making the sale and not interested in whether I loved the dress. Because I was looking for a simple dress I requested to see the bridemaids gowns. The consultant did not offer me any assistance in this area, rather she stood there and stared at me as she was clearly not interested in making a sale on a bridesmaids dress. In general my experience was not terrible it was just a major disappointment. The place was nothing like it is advertised on line and the staff was not very personable. My suggestion is that if you want to feel special and have your consultant actually show an interest in you - go somewhere else, where they listen patiently to you, work with you on what you specifically want, where they know their inventory and can make suggestions of dresses and where they actually offer you shoes and a veil to put on. With gas prices being the way they are Bridal town is especially not worth the drive. Pros: no crowds Cons: no fun more

My exp was plus sized AWFUL. 4/21/2008

Oh my god, what an AWFUL experience. I went to Bridaltown cause I thought it was great that they had sample sizes that were not a 6 or 10. I have curves and needed something in a larger size. So I show up for my appointment. They assign the most brain dead zombie to me. She had absolutely no personality. They took me to the Plus size part of the complex that was it's own area. First, for what they are charging, the dresses were not made very well. They did not have many major bridal and bridesmaid product lines either. Second, in the regular size depts, there were individual fitting rooms. In the plus size section, they have just one public fitting room so you need to basically strip down with the sales person and then change in front of other customers. I was mortified. She kept on showing me tacky gown after tacky gown. I could not get out of there fast enough. What a waste of a trip. Cons: where do I start more

Horrible customer service! 4/21/2008

We ordered my bridesmaid dresses the first week in January. The sales lady said they would be here in about 6-10 weeks. So when they didn?t come in by April , I began to call them. Every time I called, I got a different answer. They couldn?t give me a specific date. Then the manager got on the phone and all I said was ?I am getting the run around on when the dresses are coming in? and the manager just went off. ?We don?t give the run around here! I am tired of hearing that!?. Well that just made me worry even more, because apparently a lot of other people felt the same way. Cons: Poor Customer service, Lack of communication, Lazy more

worst place ever 3/19/2008

this place is very deceiving, online it looks huge and when you get there it is very small and verrrrry out dated. There was only one spot for bridesmaid dresses and they were all messed up, also the two women who were supposed to help us, sat on a chair and just staired at us while we tried to find dresses, they only had one size for every dress. We had made an appointment for no reason, it was definitly not worth the drive and I would never recommend anyone goes there. more

Don't believe everything you hear 3/10/2008

I have dealt with bridal town on many occasions in the last couple of years. While I will admit that people have seemed to have had problems, the overall experience was pleasant and helpful. I understand that a wedding is a very important day for everyone involved, but some people tend to take that a little too far. i.e. a woman was picking up a bridesmaids dress and was complaining to the front desk about the fact that the dress was too small. The brides was angry and all but in tears and the other girls there were up in arms about the size of this dress also. The kicker was when the bride went into the back room with another girl and the bridesmaid who was complaining about the dress being to small actually admitted to someone else that SHE HAD GAINED WEIGHT AND DIDN'T WANT TO TELL THE BRIDE. While that was low to begin with, the staff at Bridaltown still tried to help this woman with her problem. (of her own making) Pros: Large selection of dresses, even plus sized dresses Cons: occasional waiting line on the weekends between 12-3pm more

HUGE SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1/5/2008

This place is a huge scam.Thank God I did not waste more than about 45 min in this place due to the fact that I had a bad feeling about it as soon as we pulled up to the pink shack. They first of all have false advertisement because when I called they said that they had 150 destination dresses and only had about 25.When I asked where all the 150 destination dresses were they said that they had sold a lot of them. You mean to tell me they sold the other 125 dresses off the shelves (As Is) within a matter of weeks.Doubt it! The woman helping me was rude to begin with and she basically told me that I would need to purchase a dress off the shelves (As Is) which by the way was dirty and looked really worn. They did offer huge 20% off for the stock dress and would spot clean it if they saw anything. The dress was filthy. If they ordered it the dress would take six months but I could pay $100 to had it rushed which would mean 3 months. Are you kidding? The designers tags were missing and replaced with their tags so you could not get it anywhere else.DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!! HUGE SCAM!!!!!!!! Pros: NOTHING Cons: EVERYTHING more

Stay away. 11/25/2007

I would not recommend this place to anyone. My future wife is having nothing but problems after problems with these people. There have been several alteration problems along with excuse after excuse. In addition, it seems as if someone else is always having a problem when we go in to try and resolve our own problems. Check other rating websites before you go into this place. We are considering a suit once the wedding is over. more

Best Service! 8/7/2007

I had a fabulous experience at Bridaltown! The customer service and individualized care was just what I had hoped it would be. I would highly recommend this store to any bride! Pros: individualized attention more

Shady 7/30/2007

I was surprised that a place called Bridaltown had such a small selection of dresses. I was even more surprised when I saw that they are one of those places that rips out all the tags so you can't price shop against them. I told the woman from the start I wanted Bill Levkoff dresses. Thankfully I knew what they looked like from searching online because she offered no help. Even her color swatch sheet had the designers names ripped off all to be replaced with a number code system impossible to follow. I felt like I was trying to buy a used car or something the way she tried to get me to put money down on the spot. We left and I will never go back! Pros: Bright lights and several dressing rooms Cons: Not permitted to take pictures due to ""copyright laws"" and no designer names listed more

MY EXPERIENCE AT BRIDALTOWN 4/6/2007

First I must say how sorry I am for all the brides that had a bad experience at Bridaltown. I know how stressful planning a wedding can be but I must say that my experience there has been nothing but a positive one. I bought a dress there last July (which I was fully aware that I signed a contract that said ALL SALES FINAL) but when we changed from a 2007 destination wedding to a 2008 big wedding at home, I didn't think I wanted the dress I picked anymore. Not only did they hold the dress a year for me at no charge, they were happy to let me do a reselection. The salesperson named Sandy actually came into the shop (on her own time) at 7pm at night, (twice), working around my schedule to help me reselect a dress. They have all been very kind to me. After all that ,I kept the original dress I picked anyway and Sandy never once got inpatient or upset with me. She was happy that I was happy with my decesion. The dress is absolutley beautiful! more

RUN AWAY BRIDE! 10/1/2006

Don't go here. It is a circus. When I went for my appointment, there was a bride in tears because her dress came was the wrong size. The girl must have weighed 100 pounds soaking wet and they ordered her a 16! The worst part was that the sales staff didn't even offer a comforting word! They require money up front for the dress, shipping and alterations before the gown is even ordered. This means that if something is not right, you are at their mercy because they already have ALL of your money. At most bridal shops, your order is placed when you pay for 1/2 the price of the dress, then you pay the other half when you pick it up. Trust me, run away bride! Cons: MEAN sales people more

Don't buy your dress from here! 9/4/2006

It was a HORRIBLE experience. I purchased a dress from Bridaltown and after 4 months of waiting, it finally arrived. I was extremely excited. However, they took my measurements incorrectly, hence my dress didn't fit in my bust area. The person helping me was extremely rude and stated, ""How much weight have you gained?"" and upon my leaving she made the comment ""If I were you I would consider joining Weight Watchers and going on a serious exercise plan."" Needless to say, I cried the entire day and couldn't believe that someone could be so insensitive and cruel. Well, the manager, Mr. Titze stated that he will call the designer to see if a dress can be rush shipped to me for my wedding and suggested I order a dress 4 sizes bigger. He said I can have it by mid-September however, I would have to pay the cost of $125 for Rush service and delivery. This was extremely upsetting to me. He stated that such a thing never happens, and they would have to charge the costs to me. Well, I went on-line to find out the owner of Bridaltown (Warren Bittner- American Bridal Coop) and realized that I am not the only person to have a nightmare of an experience with them. Other complaints were posted online at ripoffreport (under category Bridal Shops) that stated similar problems. I was so upset that I decided to go an get my dress and take it to a non-Bridaltown seamstress. This seamstress stated that it was a simple fix and if I'd allowed them to order me a dress 4 sizes bigger, I would have to alter the entire dress. Brides have so much emotion wrapped up in their special day, and to have the joy and happiness taken away is just a shame. They should not be in business and should never treat people they way they do. more

DO NOT BUY A DRESS HERE 8/15/2006

I bought a ""couture"" wedding gown here for >$2500- paid in advance for the dress & alterations- waited 6 months for a dress- the designer closed up shop & disappeared with the money. Bridaltown continued to claim that the dress was on its way- it never came. Bridaltown never called me back & refused to return my money on a dress they couldn't even provide for me. I had to go thru my credit card company to get my money refunded. This was absolutely the worst experience & if you want to actually get the dress you pay for, I would suggest you buy it anywhere except Bridaltown. Please trust me on this. more

Wedding Dresses 8/12/2006

Even though some other people have had a bad experience with Bridaltown, I absolutely loved their shop. It was cool because where you went in to try on the dresses, there were mirrors all around and you could get a full view of what the dress looks like on you. The prices really weren't outrageous as people say. My wedding dress was originally $850, I only spent a little over $700. I didn't need alterations and I had a place to keep the dress they took off like $50. The dress that I got there is unbelieveable. I feel in love with the dress the first I had it on. No other place that I went to, I couldn't find one dress that I liked more than the others. The help was really good also. They made sure they ordered me the right size and length. So Koodo's to Bridaltown. Don't always believe what people tell you because you could be missing out on something good! Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Avoid Like the Plague 7/28/2006

The prom dresses we looked at were all picked over, but the salesperson assured us that any defects would be fixed. The dress was too large but two seamstresses said that it could be altered. Maybe by professionals, but that word doesn't describe the people that work at Bridaltown. Even though the dress was in stock, you have to pay for shipping, and for alterations, and for hemming, and for pressing, and for anything else they can think of. Those extras cost me an extra $100. The dress was unwearable after the seamstresses got through butchering it--my daughter looked deformed! It's next to impossible to speak to a manager, and he wouldn't even see me when I brought the dress back. He has to find the time to talk to his own seamstresses before he can even discuss this with me! They have my money and the dress and still I wait. I've filed a dispute with my credit card company to see if they can get these crooks to stand behind their warranty. Do yourself a favor--STAY AWAY!!! Go to a reputable department store, like I ended up doing. Pay the price on the tag without a bunch of overpriced services, and find yourself a reputable tailor if you need alterations. You'll be so much happier. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

Brides to be...go some place else 5/9/2006

To all Brides-to-be, if your excited and looking forward to finding your perfect dress and having a wonderful experience then turn away from Bridaltown. There customer service is absolutely terrible. There are many many other Bridal stores to choose from, take my advice and seak one of them for your wedding dress. The last straw for my wife was when she went to pick up her dress, her dress was dirty (even though you get charged for cleaning it) and the garment bag given to her was filled with dust and dirt. On top of that, once they have your money and the sale is complete...this store including management does not care that your unsatisified with their service. Just trust me, go to another store. Your wedding day is too important to let this company handle anything as important as a wedding dress! more
