Best

It was my first time there last night but not my last!!! I had the house special Thai Sukiyaki and my mind was blown! Great service and nice ambiance as well. RUN, DON"T WALK!!...

Worst

I've been to Thailand and learned to say thank you in Thai. So I said it to the waiter - he said they're Chinese, not Thai. The food was OK but not the best I've had.

Best Thai I ever had 9/21/2011

I had the Spicy Red Curry & in was out of this world. If you don't like spicy try the beef - my friend loved it! more

Average Thai fare 1/10/2008

Bangkok village serves average food that is catered to the American palate. The food is clearly too sweet and loaded with coconut milk from a can. I wish they knew better as there are other options out there. The appetizers are bad and the lunch we ordered was nothing worth mentioning about. We will keep away from the restaurant. more

They're not Thai 8/15/2007

Not the Thai I'm used to - by far... 4/13/2007

Disappointing food, service and attitude of the management. I've been to Thai restaurants all over the country and this was one of the poorest displays of Thai food I've come across. Maybe this was an isolated incedents but the attitude of the manager/owners is representative of the restaurant as a whole. My only recourse is to not return and write this review. A few details... My wife called to discuss our take out order and the manager was indifferent, rude and somewhat deceptive. I picked up a take out order and paid the bill. When I got home my wife wondered why the bill didn't match the price she expected. It turns out the prices on the restaurants website were outdated and the prices had gone up. The funny thing was that my wife asked what the price was for the duck at the beginning of the call and the lady quoted $10.50. When my wife asked why we were charged a different price the manager said it was because the web prices were old and the price had gone up. So, what is the price of the duck? The duck is $12.99, said the manager. Strange. Furthermore, Pad Thai should be a standard an any Amercian Thai restaurant - especially in a downtown suburb like Naperville. Perhaps it was a bad night for the cook - or maybe he called in sick. Whatever the case - the worse Pad Thai ever recorded by my palette. The problem - no sauce and dry noodles. How can you make Pad Thai with no Pad Thai sauce? When my wife commented about the Pad Thai that manager abruptly said, "Just bring the food back and we'll give you your money back." Most restaurants would try to do whatever they could to TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER. Not this place. They clearly could care less about my experience at the restaurant. So, if you're looking for a watered-down Thai spot, this is the place for you. If you want quality Thai food keep looking. more

No way! Save your money! Thank me later... 12/28/2006

The food was very poor. You are not eating anything authentic, its very "out of a bottle" tasting dishes. Pad thai was like made from a prepared packet... I had paid for a party of 11 people and everyone was dissapointed. I had explained my thoughts to the servers and they still charged me for full- tip. Just buy a frozen thai meal a Jewel... Pros: nothing Cons: food, no taste... more

Healthy, delicious 7/10/2006

Didn't eat there; had several items delivered and it was very good. We ordered the beef satay with peanut sauce in leiu of chicken which they ran out of. We weren't disappointed. There were 5 or 6 skewers that each had 3 pieces of VERY lean marinated and broiled flank steak. It was absolutely delicious and I could have eaten the whole thing as a meal by itself. The cucumber salad was excellent with curls of carrot and (I think) radish. the sauce was just right in terms of being spicy-sweet. We also ordered the cold fresh-crepe spring rolls with plum sauce which were good (a refreshingly yummy yet healthy alternative to deep-fried egg rolls). For entres, the Ginger Chicken was lean white-meat chicken, mushrooms, sliced green pepper, and onions in a ginger/lemongrass broth. It was excellent over white rice. The Pad Thai Noodles (tofu only) was not that great To be fair, I've had it better on other dates from the same place but tonight it was dry, there was hardly any scrambled egg, and almost no crunchy bean sprouts to provide an alternate texture to what was pretty much a heap of rice noodles. One thing that annoyed me: the scallions weren't finely diced so as to blend, but were left as (3) big chunks. That means you're either getting a mouthful with no scallions or a giant chunk of scallion. Overall, my girlfriend and I had to rate the experience VERY HIGH though because the food was healthy, tasty, and (this is the best part): all the meat was MINT. If you've ever bitten into kung pao chicken and wondered if it was cat, or bitten into a ground beef burrito and had your jaw bounce back after encountering cartilage, you know it's hard to find places that use "mint" meat (premium cuts, trimmed of absolutely ALL cartilage, ribbons of fat, etc.) The chicken was all white breastmeat, and the beef was lean, trimmed flank steak. Pros: Excellent cuts of meat, fresh vegetables Cons: I don't think they serve alcohol: be aware when dining in. Might be out of the chicken satay. more

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place after moving from the city to Naperville recently. I ordered a stir-fry Shrimp with vegetables and rice noodles. The "vegetables" were about 2 carrot sticks and about 2 whole onions. There was about 3 total shrimp in the whole thing and the rest was rice noodles. Not to mention, it had no taste whatsoever. For $11.95 I expected more than that. My boyfriend's meal was somewhat better, although had an overwhelming garlic taste and was very salty. This place is not worth it and doesn't even compare to the thai food in the city. more

We stumbled across this place one evening after moving to the burbs from the city. What a find! The prices are incredible, the portions are huge, and the food is wonderful. The coconut soup is so awesome I crave it. The owner will even deliver from Naperville to several of the surrounding suburbs. I really can't say enough out it--we think it is right up there with the Thai restaurants in the city, but the personal service is untouchable. Some of the dishes may not arrive at the same time because they are made to order, rather than prepared ahead of time--hence, super fresh! Pros: personal service, will deliver, huge portions Cons: small, may wait more

Excellent 8/7/2003

This place has changed hands a few times in the past 5 years, but the quality of the food remains high. In fact, this is the best Thai place outside the Chicago city limits, in my opinion. I've been eating at this small restaurant for years and am always very pleased with the quality of the food (the red, green, and panang curries are excellent) and the service. Steve and his Thai wife do an incredible job and are a delight. The great food, combined with the dirt cheap prices, make this a first choice. Pros: Excellent food, Amazingly cheap, Great staff Cons: Tiny place, so wait, Naperville parking more

Favorite Suburban Thai 2/7/2003

Entrees are usually not served at the same time (because they are prepared separately by a small kitchen?), but the Paradise Chicken and South Seas Fried Rice are incredible, friendly host more

Good value 11/5/2002

The $5.95 lunch is an excellent bargain. The red curry is excellent. Pros: inexpensive, parking nearby more
