Best

I have had many experiences at Aequis over the years and I love them :) Every time it has been a wonderful, relaxing, experience. With staff that gives fantastic, sincere and know...

Worst

I visited the new location of Aequis and I have to say the decor is lovely. Although the staff was bending over backward to please me I truly felt that the quality of the massage...

Wow. Great experience. 6/4/2010

I had a really great experience at Aequis. It was my first spa experience, and I wasn't sure exactly what to expect... but they were great, treated me with respect and made me feel really comfortable. And afterward? Wow. I felt great. I'll be back! Thank you!!! Pros: Sensitive to a noobie Cons: none more

Worst Spa 5/12/2010

I worked at Aequis spa last year, and the owner Megan Klein seemed on the up and up, until it came time for payroll. Myself and several other employees were shafted out of wages we worked very hard for. I was very patient and gave owner Megan Klein months to pay me, and it was always one excuse after another. Eventually I filed a claim with the Bureau of Labor and Industry. They agreed I was owed the money and a sheriff from the city served owner Megan Klein with an order of determination stating the amount that was owed to me, and several other employees who were never paid. Owner Megan Klein refused to acknowledge the paperwork from the state, and now a lien has been placed against her, the business and any property she owns. If you want to go to Aequis feel free. I just thought you should know the kind of business owner Megan Klein truly runs. Pros: Smells Nice Cons: Horrible customer service and business practices more

Why would a business do that? 4/16/2010

I have been planning a trip to Portland and after reading the rave reviews below selected Aequis as a spa to visit during my stay. I should have read more reviews! The website is very nice, but they advertise "daily specials" and there are none! The site ssys to " check in here first thing every morning and be the first to call" I have been checking continuously for a week and NOTHING. I was really psyched about going to this place, but I feel uncomfortable dealing with a business that doesn't follow through. They might want to crop down that home page photo too. The smaller (cropped) version at the top is much more flattering. Pros: Good website Cons: All that glitters is not gold more

The Best Spa in Portland 1/14/2010

This is a spa! We were greeted warmly and in a timely manner. It was so fun to select our aromatherapy oils for our massage. Our massage therapists, Krista and Katrina, were friendly and professional, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. There was a bit of outside noise, but it was only for a moment and did not affect my experience. We are coming back regularly! I highly recommend this spa as a terrfic retreat! Pros: Friendly, Accomodating, Relaxing Cons: A tiny amount of outside noise more

I can't even put into words.... 1/5/2010

This might just be the longest post ever because I want EVERYONE to feel how I am feeling right now..... Where on earth do I even begin. I was off to another day in the grind when I all of the sudden was swept away on the best surprise day I have ever had. I had no idea, but apparently a dear friend of mine had arranged an entire spa day just for me AND had also set up little presents for me throughout my spa day. I arrived and was instantly swept away in my sensory journey where I got to completely customize my aromatherapy that would be used throughout my entire visit. I was then taken back to get changed and receive my foot treatment, which is where my first present came to find me. I was delivered my favorite coffee from Starbucks to sip on during my foot massage... it was just perfect. Just before I was about to fall asleep on their huge comfy couches, I was taken by my massage therapist, Jamaica, to my BEAUTIFUL private room. Wow... let me tell you. Deep yummy chocolate colors, golds, reds, candles and Buddha! I was in love... Just as my massage begins, the meditative music gets very quiet and all of the sudden Jack Johnson starts playing! Present number 2, my entire massage was to some of my favorite artists. Michael Jackson, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Damien Rice.... ahhh, I could not believe it. Jamaica was perfection. She read my body like I couldn't even believe. My neck has been bothering me for SO long and now it is if there was never a problem. After my 90 minute massage, I was taken to a lounge and was told that my next therapist would be with me shortly and to just breathe and relax. (which was not going to be hard to do at all) Then came present number 3, a warm, yummy, breakfast sandwich! Which couldn't have been more perfect because I was starving :) I was then greeted by Megan and Samantha, who would be taking me on the next step of my journey. Which apparently was a 90 minute tandem Facial! I didn't really know what I was in for but WOW! While one was working on my face, I had another massaging my hands and then scrubbing and massaging my feet! I didn't know where to focus! With different breathtaking aromas coming at me, hot towels being wrapped around me, 4 hands working simultaneously.... I still have no words to describe how it felt. Megan, I can only thank you for how flawless my skin looks and for my 'glow' that only you could accomplish. And as for Samantha... I type all day long and that hand and arm massage was JUST what I needed. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING, was absolutely perfect! My special visit to Aequis will be something I will remember forever. Every single detail that could have made my day even more perfect, was met AND taken to the next level. If you need to spoil someone you love, trust me, this is the place to do it. I will never be able to thank my friend enough for the thought that was put into my day of relaxation.... It was just what I needed. Thank you so much to the staff at Aequis for making this the most perfect spa day I could ever have asked for! Pros: EVERYTHING was customized just for me Cons: that I can't live there more

One the best 12/13/2009

I travel all over the world and have enjoyed great massages in many cities. The massage given by Jamaica was one of the best ever. "I could go on at length, but I will just mention a few aspects. First would be mood and tone. You set that from the outset with your strong but comforting presence. I also found the body work to be practiced at a level I would have to call masterful or virtuosic. You managed intense deep pressurewhere it mattered and knew how to read my body. Finally, your comments at the end about ways I might limber up and work on flexibility were well received and much appreciated. " I was extremely well treated in all respects and have difficulty understanding the negative reviews here. There was no sign of any of those issues - just a completely pleasurable experience from beginning to end. Pros: Excellent massage, great atmosphere, good service Cons: none more

WORST CUSTOMER SEVICE EVER!!!!!! 12/3/2009

My husband bought me 3 package treatments consisting of facial, massage, body exfoliation and pedicure each package was to be 4 hours long and cost 200.00. scheduling appointments were extremely difficult and about 4 weeks out. on my spa day there was scheduling errors and only the facial and massage was preformed. when I asked about the other services we had pre paid for I was told sorry I would have to re schedule but no time for the next month but a manager would give me a call. two days latter no call so I called the manager who was so rude and argued with me regarding what was in my package!. lucky for me my husband had printed out the package when he purchased it. I was so angry after talking to the staff I decided I would wait and cool off and call back later 3 months later I called and asked to have the gift certificates mailed to me again the phone staff was so rude. She actually tried to rip me off and only give me the services that were miss scheduled the first time (pedicure and exfoliaton) and not give me the other whole package which was purchased. We purcharsed a 600.00 package 3 full day spa treatments once this company has money in hand they do not want to deliver on the services I would advise anyone not to go to this establishment and certainly not to buy gift certificates because they make it impossible to use them. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: customer service and managment more

A true retreat 11/13/2009

I feel healed after my hour massage at Aequis. From beginning to end, it was a deeply gratifying experience that relaxed my every nerve. As my mind wandered over work and what people were thinking, the staff at Aequis brought me back to earth allowing me to truely enjoy myself in the moment. It all started with a sensory journey where I blurted, "I like lavender." The therapists informed me, "Close your eyes and what you like might surprise you." Indeed, lavendar smelled like rotten oranges to me as my nose chose what I needed that day. My foot soak and calf and foot rub had me in a trance and ready to receive a body massage. I was comfortable and warm as a kink in my neck disintegrated to the nothing from which it came. My therapist used her abilitys to respond to my bodys needs and some real healing was accomplised. I'm excited for my facial! Pros: Response ability more

Most amazing couples massage ever 11/12/2009

I planned a wonderful couples massage with my husband. Not only was the staff friendly and the atmosphere very pleasing and calm but what makes a great massage is a skilled therapists. I have never had a better massage experience and am going back. Pros: Therapists really know what they are doing Cons: booked pretty far out on the weekends but I've managed more

Instant Transformation 10/30/2009

If you're looking for the total spa experience, there is no spa in Portland that matches Aequis. The minute you walk in, you're taken to a far away tranquil environment that instantly relaxes you. Lighting, decor, staff training, facility, and treatment all work together to reinforce this atmosphere. Superb. I have treatment scheduled next week -this will my first visit since they moved to their new location in the Pearl . Cannot wait. Pros: Atmosphere, treatment, energy Cons: parking more

I'm not going to try THAT hard to give you my business! 10/6/2009

Despite the recent reviews I attempted to make an appt. for a treatment. I never got a call back. I don't care how exclusive you are, it is simply bad business not to return phone calls. I refuse to make attempt after attempt to make an appt. There are plenty of other spas in the area that I'm sure will actually pick up when I call and schedule an appt. Pros: ???? Cons: No respect for prospective clients more

Wonderful 10/6/2009

I just had the most amazing massage! Matthew is amazing he had just the right pressure and worked out all my soar spots. Thank you I will return! Pros: LMTS Cons: none more

Gift Certificates Worked Out 10/2/2009

The girls had the place to themselves and were treated above and beyond what was promised. They did a great job and although they were very difficult to get a hold of, and scheduling was difficult - not sure what happened but once contact was made things fell into place and the princesses were granted their every wish. Pros: The girls were pampered like princesses Cons: Difficult to get a hold of.... more

Happy to see some good posts for a change! 9/22/2009

Glad to see that people are still getting good massages. more

I've just kinda been watching 9/21/2009

This fascinates me. Does anyone really believe that ex-employees just hang out on their former employer's citysearch reviews all day? Further, IF they are ex-employees, do they not see they have far better avenues than this to resolve their issues (assuming this isn't just a defamation play)? Or maybe they don't even want resolution? (which would be reallllllly pathetic.) I've been to Aequis a few times. Most times it was excellent. One time they really bungled up my session. It happens. You know what? Megan took full responsibility for the situation (though it wasn't really her doing... it was one of her staff... maybe you?) , and rectified it to my satisfaction. This leads me to believe from experience that she is one who will take responsibility for her actions, and that your accusations may have ulterior motive. Rather than pursue an ineffective (at best) campaign on citysearch, why don't you pick up the phone, call Megan at Aequis and work to a resolution (here's the number: 503-223-7847). As others have reported, you might get an answering machine. So... give up? Hell no, show some courage and leave a voice mail. Then you two can talk and reach a resolution, UNLESS, of course, this whole citysearch campaign is nothing more than an inability on your part to accept responsibility for YOUR actions (you know, the ones that probably got you fired... you did say ex-employee, correct?) Defamatory fake "reviews" that don't help people decide whether Aequis is right for them are NOT the solution. Heck, I'm not even with Aequis, and your drama has gotten under my skin, enough to prompt me to post. I can only imagine what your former friends still working at Aequis think of you for trying to put them out of a job. Take some responsibility for once, drop the hide-n-seek libel, and IF there truly is an issue, get it resolved. You know, like a civil human. Pros: Good place. more

World Class 9/18/2009

My husband and I had what I would classify as world class massages there. It was a little tricky getting an appointment, but we're originally from NY, so we're pretty used to the good places being hard to get into. Bottom line for us: it was worth it. Pros: Quality. Professional. Relaxed. Cons: Parking enforcement in the area are diligent. more

Please keep going to Aequis so I can get the back pay owed 9/16/2009

It's interesting reading the recent good reviews for Aequis, or that Aequis is even still in business since many, many of it's accounts are in arrears. I have a confirmation from a claims handler at the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industry that there are SEVERAL claims against Aequis and it's owner Megan Klein Fitzgerald. Apparently Megan refuses to respond to any of these claims from the poor employees who were duped into working for her, only to never receive the payment they deserve. Apparently now the state will have to serve her with legal papers and start a more aggressive process to get the delinquent Megan to actually pay her employees. It's so sad and pathetic that Megan and Aequis claim to be all new agey and peace to the world, but in actuality Megan is completely shady and underhanded. I wonder if BeckyJoe who also owned her own small business and thinks we're being mean and petty, actually paid her employees. Or, if BeckyJoe weren't paid by a client, would she go after that person for payment? Does that then make her mean and petty like she thinks we are? Or does she think, as Megan does, that it's perfectly ok not to pay employees? At any rate, if you want to believe these recent positive reviews, then by all means please do. That way Megan still has a business, and income that the state can track down so her employees can actually get paid the money Megan rightfully owes them. Pros: I need the money owed to me by Aequis Cons: Aequis doesn't pay it's employees more

Fantastic Experience Today 9/13/2009

Let me say this, I did have some trouble getting the appointment scheduled similar to some of the reviews below. I did, however, get that worked out with a personal call from the owner, Megan. Today was the day that my boyfriend and I visited the spa and had a really great experience. From the beginning of our appointment where we worked out our aromatherapy to the time we left, we were made to feel extremely special and were well taken care of. For those of you that take reviews seriously, it is pretty apparent from the content/timing of the bad reviews that they don't seem legit. I would highly recommend giving Aequis a try for yourself. The folks that were working there did a great job and we will be back. Pros: therapists, experience, location Cons: tough to get the appointment more

I had a nice time 9/11/2009

I went and had a really wonderful time. I can't say others didn't have the same level of perfect service I got, but reading a few of the previous posts makes me suspect Aequis has a rogue disgruntled employee or jealous competitor. I have run small businesses before so I know how it goes. The way it sounds so personal it sounds like some one or some ones with an agenda, a little time on their hands, and a handful of free easy to create CitySearch accounts. All I can say is, "been there" Aequis. Just keep up the same level of professional experience you showed us and let the rest sort itself out. Pros: Professional and perfect Cons: None for me more

Don't be fooled by the Ratings 9/6/2009

Don't be fooled by these ratings! There have been ONLY seven (7) good ratings for this place in the last year! The overwhelming majority have been HORRIBLE. Stay away as they are not worth your hard earned money in these times! Pros: none Cons: Bad Place more
