I visited the new location of Aequis and I have to say the decor is lovely. Although the staff was bending over backward to please me I truly felt that the quality of the massage...

Best Spa in my Book 11/27/2005

After being in spas all over the country (and asking for refunds from some BIG spas in CA, NY) I think Aequis has to be in my top 10 anywhere. I love their approach to wellness and their kind touch. Aequis is a true vision of what spa is supposed to be - from the beautiful entry to the custom beverages and grounding foot soak before my Dakini Sky Walking Treatment. I love the warm mud, the hot stones and the steam. I've been to many Ayurvedic spas and Aequis truly is a blessing. I think I will skip my next visit to The Chopra Center and come here instead! Pros: Simply Clean Beauty, Spacious, Healing more

Absolutely Beautiful New Space! 11/12/2005

I haven't received a service in the new location yet, but I was able to make it to the open house party on Saturday. The new space is amazing. It is so different from their cozy haven in the pearl, but a lot more accomodating. The showers alone would make it worth the visit. They have a bunch of new products (ones I haven't seen around Portland yet) and everyone seems super excited to be there. There was a model covered with gemstones in one of the rooms and the therapist demonstrated a therapy on me using tuning forks. I heard about some new treatments and I can't wait to try them out- but every time I try to make an appointment it's weeks out! At least my gift certificate doesn't expire. Pros: Personable staff, Decor, Variety Cons: Parking, Scheduling more

Very Average Overall 11/10/2005

I read up on this place and decided to try it since it had a lot of positive feedback. Well, it's not all that it's hyped up to be. A lot of ancient this, ancient that and history; and somewhere the customer & customer service got lost in the middle. I did not feel any better after I left the facility than when I went in. Nice place though. Pros: Decor, Size Cons: Staff, Service more

consistancy is a plus 11/8/2005

This place is always consistant in their customer service and their treatments. While I have my regular "place" I like to visit here when I have company in town or maybe when I just want to spend a few hours getting pampered. It's a great get away. Now all they need is someone to take you home since you are mush when you leave! However for result oriented facials and waxing, this is not the place. Aveda just doesn't offer that kind of service. Pros: consistancy, great atmosphere, peaceful Cons: not result oriented, skin care. more

Class Act - WOW 10/14/2005

A group of us went in for a big spa night at Aequis this weekend (a gift). It was incredible! The staff at Aequis is wonderful and so, so talented. They had a wonderful day planned for us from our Coconut Foot Treatments to all 16 ? of us having facials and massages. The spa is gorgeous and spacious. Some of the girls went out onto the deck - even though is was a little misty they ventured out for fresh air and a view of the city. The food was beautifully presented with fresh herbs and a knowledgable wine selection. Thank you Aequis for a beautiful night filled with candlelight, laughter and a great view. Thank you! Pros: Everything more

Aequis is my Heaven 10/11/2005

So you lay around and wonder if heaven exists. I think if I envisioned heaven there would be blowing fabrics, lots of greenery, big cushy furniture clouds, and angels floating by....I know that sounds crazy....but that is Aequis Spa! You float up this elevator and it opens into a calm, dark, soothing distant place. The speak in whispers and touch your arm when they approach. I had the most seductive day. My pedicure was detailed with a view of the whole spa, my facial was thorough and soothing and my massage was truly heaven. Thank you - you are all truly angels. Pros: Easy Parking, Gorgeous, Loving Angels more

i REFUSE to get a face-lift!! 10/1/2005

I had the privilege to experience the new location and it is beautiful, but not as stunning as the hands that ever so gracefully tease my flesh!!!! I asked for Melanie for my facial and I found out that they carry a whole new array of treatment products. I wanted more of a clinical style facial w/ extractions and a glow... the whole nine yards. She used a vitamin c crystal peel mask, my skin feels terrific! I always feel as though I get more than a facial because Melanie always uses the time I am masking to massage my hands, arms, neck and shoulders. (oh yea and face) I love the new products you are using now. My skin responded very well. Thank you Melanie! Celine McCartney Pros: Melanie, Products, Shower Cons: Vanity area, Was hoping for a, steam or sauna. more

Perfect in every way! 9/23/2005

If anyone is really looking on Citysearch for a spa - this is THE spa to go to in Portland. Actually - the best spa I've been to in the states! When we flew in we read an article about the top 3 things to do in Portland: Columbia Gorge, Portland Art Museum and Aequis Spa. Needless to say - we expected a lot. We arrived and were told that we were at their new location - it's got the zing of Manhattan with the ambiance of asian with the down home feel that I love about Portland. I came in with my friend and had some of the best facials we've ever had - including our regular place in Palm Springs. Aequis is THE BEST - I wish them the best of luck and looking forward to coming in when I visit next! Pros: Beautiful Views, Wonderful Staff, Exotic Treatments Cons: Not in PS! more

Tis Spectacular! 9/22/2005

I got to go into Aequis - finally! I've been waiting and was so excited - the only bummer was I didn't get to see the Tower Suite! There was a couple in there! Darn. I had a great man serve me tea and then I receive the best facial from Melanie. Congratulations guys....the place is stunning. I loved the red shower! Pros: Best Facial EVER! Cons: Can't live there more

Excellent Customer Service 9/4/2005

Aequis Spa is EXCELLENCE. I went to Aequis expecting a lot. They are hidden in this old building - you ring the doorbell and this beautiful woman answers the door and invites you in. I was scheduled this a male massage therapist - but said I wanted a female and they immediately offered to change my therapist - but I felt uncomfortable asking so I said it was ok. I had Phil and he is the most incredible massage therapist ever! I was so excited that I didn't switch. I got home that night and guess what? The owner called and apologized that I didn't know it was a male and gave me a free massage! That is customer service! I loved my massage but when I called she wouldn't take the free service back! I'll never go anywhere else and thank you Phil my neck feels 100%! Pros: Follow Through, Excellent Service, Great Massage more

Aequis is Portland- I know I'm home 9/3/2005

I travel all around the world and I make my appointments months in advance! I travel all the time - I go to Europe, Asia, Africa....I plan my trips to Aequis with my flights home to Portland 3-4 times a year. I get off a plane and head in for my treatments. When I'm homesick I think of Aequis - Aequis is Portland - Aequis is home for me. I love the massages with gongs, the facials, the ayurvedic treatments, the ambiance. I love everything about Aequis! Thank you Megan for creating such a beautiful space - I loved chatting and I'll be in soon! Pros: It's in Portland, Relaxing, Soothing more

Such Experts - Surprisingly Thoughtful 9/3/2005

I called Aequis for a pregnancy massage and the woman I spoke to was so caring and asked so many questions to make sure I was comfortable. They seem to really care about not only having me as a customer but making sure I was informed with regard to the massages I was trying to choose. When I went in - the first thing they do is wash and massage your feet - and I was needing it! My massage was wonderful. They are moving and all the staff seem so invested and excited. It seems like a great place to work. I'll be back - AFTER the baby. Thank you Aequis for making my day special. Pros: Knowledable, Thoughtful, Beautiful Spa Cons: Nothing more

a constant in Portland 8/29/2005

While I tend to like a little more result oriented facial, this spa is always consistant in their body treatments. I have always been satisfied with the service's I have received here. They know what they are doing and they hold true to their convictions of being a healing place. You get that the moment you enter the front door. They take Aveda and make it an experience not just a name that is way to overused in the industry. Go here, you won't be disappointed. Pros: staff, atmosphere, service A+ Cons: facial technology more

Again, a perfect experience!! 8/22/2005

I have been to Aequis several times and have never been disappointed. This time I took my husband, who has never been to a spa, with me. We had a fantastic time. We received the Rajas wellness treatment and it was exquisite. I also had a facial and must say that they completely deserve the title of Best Facial in Portland. My husband is a total convert and he cannot wait to return. I am looking forward to visiting Aeguis at their new location next time. This is the best spa I have ever been to. Pros: Educated Staff, Music, Ambience, Everything Cons: 1 bathroom more

Wonderful Experience 8/20/2005

I visited Aequis for the first time today as a gift for my birthday, it was incredible! Have had many massages around the country, this was truly wonderful! The entire experience was blissful, peaceful and all encompassing! Gorgeous atmosphere, and the therapist was beyond belief...a true massage master! I highly reccommend this experience, it was Wonderful in every way! more

Treated like Royalty 8/18/2005

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of exploring Aequis Spa in the Peal District. From the moment we walked in we were engulfed by essences of sweet aromas as you are led through this hidden oasis. The foot treatment set the mood of relaxation as we melted into the custom made sofas. The massages were exquisite and helped to relax the spiritual and physical bodies. Phil and Jesse were very knowledgable and skilled and helped provide us with customized treatments. We are looking forward to returning when they move to their new location. Pros: atmosphere, variety, enlightening Cons: parking more

Over priced 8/18/2005

My experience was okay, average, nothing particular to rave about - but WAY over priced for what it is. Pros: average service, atmosphere Cons: expensive, parking, facial more

What a beautiful experience. 8/9/2005

What I loved best was the aura of mystery- the hidden door in the somewhat cruddy warehouse, the mystical music, the softspoken therapist with her vials of smells. It was not just a salon-style fix-me-up (I had a facial), I mean really, I can pluck my own brows! It was a pampering, loving-touch filled, educational experience that really made me forget that I had dirty dishes and a whiny teenager back home. Although I was gifted this experience I totally plan to come back for another facial, paid for by me, and try a massage too. All in all-fabulous! What hard-working adult doesn't need a little nurturing every now and then? more

Great 6/28/2005

The best place to relax and get amazing service. Everyne should go there more

The Best - Bar None! 6/13/2005

Nymel ("smoke and mirrors") must have been smoking something when he/she wrote the negative review below. I am a long-time customer of Aequis, so I know of what I speak. The treatment times are not inflated. To the contrary, you are pampered from the moment you enter until the moment you (sadly) leave. Did you forget about the soothing foot-soak, the sensual scent-selection, the relaxing beverage and the amazing shower when you said the treatments are only 60 minutes? The beautiful photos of the spa are not digitally altered - this is exactly what this amazing spa looks like. All of these positive reviewers can't be wrong - but a couple of negatives surely can - decide for yourself by visiting this terrific spa. You will not regret it... Pros: atmosphere, service, value more
