As I arrive for church on Sunday morning (10 a.m.), I am always overwhelmed by the simple beauty of this church; It's beautiful red bricks, steeple with a cross and wide steps as you reach the large doors, where you are warmly greeted by the members of the church, who are always dressed impecably. We pass the ushers, who nod or greet us. The feeling of ""you are always welcome"" is felt each time we visit. Usually the choir and their band are performing. (They really sing and the band rocks!) There is an air of great joy! There are always many speakers, before the Bishop speaks and when he does, it is truly a spiritual happening! It's similar to going to a concert and waiting for the featured act. I call him the Celebrity Bishop. His presence is so profound. I love his sermons. I love how he speaks from his heart. I even love his melodic voice, when he sings! This church is truly a hidden treasure in Waukegan, Illinois. If one is looking for that ""good ole time religion of your youth,"" one will find it at Mt. Moriah. I simply love this church. I have found my spiritual treasure! I urge you to visit this church. If nothing else, I promise you will experience a spiritual awakening. It's been quite a while that I have continued to visit one church. I have not experienced these feelings since my younger days at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Chicago. Reverend James C. May, the pastor has always remained in my thoughts and heart. Such a beautiful church! Mt. Moriah takes me back to those days. VISIT! Pros: They are heavily involved in working with the community.
