I'm an Austin local and everyone who lives here knows the truth about the Oasis: when you have friends in town visiting you MUST take them here for a sunset cocktail, but NOT for dinner. The food and service has always way-below-par for Austin standards but that's not why we keep coming back to the Oasis. The drive up there is beautiful, the views at sunset are great, it's a romantic place to stop and enjoy the lake especially when the weather is not so perfect. But please don't mistakenly take your friends here for a meal or you will be showing them a poor representation of what Austin food, hospitality and friendly people are all about.
