My husband and I recently dined at Shelly's. It's a great atmosphere and the wait staff was very friendly, but the main event - the food - was subpar. I understand the woodfire concept, but I have eaten at other woodfire restaurants that incorporate a lot more flavor into their meats. My husbands beef ribs lacked flavor, and the "barbecue" sauce that came on the side tasted like sweet ketchup with pepper in in. The brisket was so-so. I had the pork tenderloin, which was probably the best thing off both of our plates. Though the meat was a little overdone, the pineapple sauce that covered it was great. The sides were sad - the twice-baked potato tasted a little like dirt - like when you don't wash a potato before you cook it. It just wasn't good. The vegetables were soggy. Given the prices, this was a highly disappointing trip. We won't be back.
Pros: decor
Cons: lack of flavor, prices
